As you may or may not be aware but me and my family lost our beloved Fur baby Merlin our 17 year old cat on Saturday. So I’ve taken a break from writing for a bit until things calm down a little and when we finally get his ashes back.
I may not be writing this week but that doesn’t mind I’m not thinking of this game. For example in honour of our Merlin the Merry Men camp will soon become home to a delightful Black and White cat (a tuxedo cat to be precise) called Merlin. And obviously he shall be pettable.
Hi all. Now I’ve got my Merlin’s ashes back I’ve gotten back to writing this game. I want to get Chapter Three finished by the end of the month.
Still to do are; finish the melee tournament, write the Archery tournament, expand on a few earlier scenes, add the cat to the camp scenes, and write the end part of chapter three.
Now, this brings me to a question, during the earlier fights Robin can choose to lose on purpose. Especially if you do it in your first fight there will be less scenes overall as you will miss the other fights. My answer at the moment is to let Robin return to exploring the town, or maybe just relax and watch the rest of the fights.
I also had a thought and think would people be interested in the chance to steal the prize money for the melee?
Depending on who actually earns the winnings, stealing them could be very fun, but I wouldn’t want to take it from one seriously lucky farmer, if you follow what I mean. A pompous jerk type of noble, or knight on the other hand? All your cash are belong to the poor, now!
Is it just a cash prize? If there’s a trophy or something it would be fun to steal it and put it some place high up where, when it’s time for the award ceremony, a lot of people are going to notice and struggle to get it back down to earth.
Now, suppose Robin doesn’t win against Ethelred (the farmer). In that case, the farmer will lose the next match against either a former mercenary or a bodyguard (determined by an earlier Robin choice), and the final match would be against Moran (the disguised Marian).
You’ve just given me the idea to allow Robin to help sabotage Ethelred’s next opponent so he wins again. Marian will still win, but she will offer him the prize money as she doesn’t really need it. That could be fun to figure out ways to do that.
At the moment it’s just a prize money but that is another fun idea so I’ll add in a trophy as well (maybe an exotic sword that the Sheriff had commissioned for the winner)
However I did find a bug after I restarted. Basically, when I open the game the first thing I do is to go to “Settings”. But when I press “Return to game” it basically send me to the settings screen again, practically trapping me in a loop (I didn’t press any other options when I was in the settings page except “Return to game”).
Hope this helps.
Also I’m curious about the Author’s Note (or Code, i don’t remember tbh).
