I recommend reading the code of some of your favorite games, and then picking something tiny they implemented and then starting to make your own from there. I parsed the code for Samurai of Hyuuga, Creme De La Creme and a bunch of other games while trying to figure out how to work my own code.

If anyone of you needs help understanding how to code, the Choicescript wiki is actually a pretty good resource. There are also a bunch of people here on this forum who are more than willing to help you figure out anything you are struggling with.
Also, as Niki mentioned, to rifle through the code of other games can also be a great opportunity to learn. Each author might have their own techniques as well so you can see a bunch of different ways to go about what you wish to do.
I just got again very quickly into the game to see if I remembered correctly the part with a woman crying and I think that I confused the games between them, as I last played this game a few months ago. So, in short, there wasn’t any scene with a woman crying. The real bug that I encountered was, in fact, this one: chapter1 line 2262: Non-existent variable ‘him’

This is the kingdom the game’s dynasty is based off of. The dynasty in the game is called the Hao Dynasty, ruled by the Hao clan. as of right now, I don’t have any further worldbuilding around the dynasty itself, but as it comes, I’ll keep you all apprised!
Early days yet, I know, but I am very excited at the possibilities. I can feel your passion and interest in the time period in the game, and I think the addition of (optional)… I guess honestly body horror, is an amazing one. Frankly speaking that change was due to An LuShan’s rebellion, the long story short, when An LuShan rebelled, Xuanzhong emperor had no solid troops in his imperial corps, and he and his successor, Suzhong emperor had to pull out the majority of troops that were stationed in the Anxi and the borders that was watching over the Tibetan empire, and ever since Tibet always had their eyes on the Anxi’s wealth and strategic importance since the first day, they invaded and annexed the Anxi. Thus the Great Tang loss the western territories to the Tibetans, the Muslims and the horse tribes. A sad story, sad and painful story.
