and sorry for doublepost, but everyone whose been saying the divorce and asylum and drug “endings” are endings, are wrong. there are 4 endings, and the only time you know when u get the endings is when it gives you the option to play again. the rest of those “endings” are all part of figuring out the big puzzle that is the game

@zolo999 Are you sure there’s a good ending?

I thought the only endings with your good partner were you can choose not to ever meet them, you can let them die in the train crash, or you can end up divorced and apart from them.

I didn’t think there was any ending where you could end up with things perfect. I thought it was one of the themes of the game that the more you try to fix everything the more it all falls apart. So you just have to choose which bad ending you want, if it’s divorce, or letting your lover die, or never meeting them.

Was that changed in the final release?

I cannot, for the life of me, find the option to get faster. I’ve joined the gun club, but I see no option at my wedding.

Ah, never mind, found it. I have to say Lucid, this is one of the best games I’ve played from this site. It’s very original, thought provoking, and headache inducing :P. Amazing work.

@fairygodfeather i am positive. if you persist an fix everything that went “wrong” you:
BEWARE: SPOILERS BELOW, READ AT YOUR OWN RISK
eventually kill yourself, causing a paradox factor (i think thats what it says) bringing you back to before the headaches began. (a side effect from timetraveling) but your character remains happy with his life.
SPOILERS OVER:
they foreshadow the choices thing with the mouse experiment also. the mouse learned lessons from the future, and changed what he did in the past (pulling the green lever every time to avoid a painful shock) you have to go through the game and fix everything in order to get MY ending. but it doesn’t really end till you get a play again option, dont be fooled.

@zolo999 Also the mouse is named Marty, which I thought was nice touch

<spoilers, of course>
You aren’t going back to a time before the headaches began, you’re causing a paradox at a time before the headaches began (whenever you go into the box).
Honestly, i found the paradox factor ending to be the most interesting ending, if a bit disturbing. Your character kinda suffers a mental breakdown and murders his friends and wife before killing himself. I honestly found any other to be better, because instead of going down the dark path your character learns to accept his life.

The one that I found to be the best was the original train ending (albeit modified a bit), because that way your family is happy. Living apart, you had a pretty crappy marriage. You dedicate your life to saving your children, but you grow apart from your wife and leave your kids with emotional trauma. If you go down the train ending, you don’t go to the gun club, you don’t do martial arts, you just give your family the happiest life possible, and then a quick death.

This is the best dark themed psychological thriller text based game that I’ve ever played in my entire life, thanks for this!

A part of me wishes that there WAS a totally happy ending, but I get why there isn’t, and having one would ruin the message of the game.

Totally worth playing. I spent days trying to find all the endings.

Hi,

Just to say I absolutely loved this game. I really like how the game-mechanics (constantly finding yourself thwarted in your attempts to change the future by the past) match with the stories ideas about time travel.

Nightmarish at times, but so worth playing  Thanks.

How do I get the suicide ending? (I’ve been trying for, like, 3 hous!)

@lackofmops Are you kidding me? That’s the easiest one.

SPOILERS!

You just run over your Terry (I think that’s his name.) and poison Jim’s drink at the wedding, I don’t remember the rest, but if you go through all the times you’ll find it.

I didn’t think that was the easiest one. It certainly wasn’t the one I found first.

@Havenstone Really? That’s the only one I can find.

Even i found it later lol. it wad one of last i found

I’ve found all four endings and some are off the beaten path. They’re all great and everyone should see each one.

I’ll list them below, skip if you want to discover them yourself. I can’t list step by step directions, just revisit all past events if you get stuck. I think the only one you never interact with later is the investor meeting.

SPOILER WARNING:

  1. You commit suicide. This causes paradox and resets your memory to before using the time travel device. You married the good spouse and had children but they died on the train. To do this you have to kill off all of your partners including your spouse. First you meet Terry on the rooftop and he stops you from suicide. You then kill Terry by going back a year and killing him on the side of the road, but Jim takes his place on the roof. Poison him at your wedding. Now your spouse is on the roof with you, so kill him/her with the train event. Now you will be free to blow your brains out and cause paradox.

  2. What I call the Batman ending. You figure out how to save your kids from the kidnappers, but you alienate them in the process. In order to get this you have to locate the farmhouse, sabotage it prior to the kidnapping (hit the chair only once, DON’T hit the TV, wreck everything else), buy a gun, join a gun club, resolve to stay in shape, and learn martial arts. You also have to discover each next step by repeated failure - ie, get shot, go back and buy a gun, get shot again, go back and learn to shoot, etc. This result is a jumping off point for other endings, but it’s probably the least bitter if you accept the divorce.

  3. No loss - realizing that trying to save your ideal family will always backfire in some way, you go back and choose to marry bad spouse. Get a prenup and eventually divorce him/her. Instead of going to the lab, accept your life.

  4. Train death part 2. After trying to save your children and finding it just causes more heartache, you revisit the train trip and proceed with it. After their funeral, you accept the loss.

@The_Ravenclaw and @Bobsmyuncle

How do I kill them? There’s no option to poison his drink at the wedding, and no scene where I’m on a rooftop. And none of the other options showed up.

@lackofmops Have you done the kidnapping bit?

@The_Ravenclaw yes I did the kidnapping (with the stock market)… Thanks for helping me out, by the way!

There may be no happy endings but this is an amazing game. I bought it as soon as I read the blurb and it didn’t disappoint. It was so unique and the story really touched me too. Lucid, your talent as a writer never ceases to amaze me.

GAH, stuck on the kidnapping. I read somewhere here you have to get fit by resolving to do so earlier on, and something about martial arts. How do I do that? I’ve looked everywhere, even the sports section of the newspaper but there was no option there.
