Out now! "Specters of the Deep"—Die for the realm, rise to save the world!

I got more or less the same stuff you did, except with Cecilia instead and with a more sardonic and intimidation/dread/throwing his weight around build

I considered going royalist, but Alek’s whole vibe was so off-putting to me. His whole “your bones are in my castle so they belong to me” thing was so gross.

I didn’t like him much either, but I hated the council even more because of how obnoxious they were and how they really wanted to take political advantage of a situation where it wasn’t the time in place for it

Just finished my first playthrough of this wonderful game! There’s so much I enjoyed:

  • Really rich setting which we get to see through different perspectives, since we are a ghost

  • Stats that were fair but sometimes a little tough (in a very good way) and with very interesting consequences (I reloaded this, but the loss of the MC’s hand was pretty interesting)

  • The chapter saves - I did go back and replay a chapter a few times, because I was really interested to see a different result, so I was very happy about this option

  • The different factions and choices - I felt really pulled between them

  • Horizon. Such an agent of chaos! Also I felt like he would make a great match with Senna, at the end…

  • The extensive epilogue which felt like a celebration of everything and everyone in the game

  • The fact that I got to give Vatrai’s eye to Cecilia at the end, just to throw a complete curveball. I’m sure that choice will have no consequences whatsoever…

I played a fairly dutiful and kind MC with high ghost communion, but I think next time I want to replay as a grumpy morbid ghost who supports someone else entirely.

All in all, Specters of the Deep has found a place as one of my favourite ChoiceScript games.

Just finished this. Really enjoyed it. Cecilia is best girl. I’d say I would die for her, but, well…

I’m only on chapter 7 so far, but I wanted to say I love the tension, dynamics and options available when playing as friends with Cecilia. Abby, you write including these complicated nuances that make me have to stop for a minute and consider everything before proceeding, and I absolutely love it.

Also, I’ve chosen Frey as the love interest, definitely not an easy character to write, and again, there’s such attention to little details that another author (me) might not have considered. I was semi-obsessed re-playing Stars Arisen repeatedly when it released, and I think I’m enjoying the richness of Specters of the Deep even more.

Help, I can’t purchase the game through the app.

Send an email to support@choiceofgames.com and we’ll help you out! (It will still be me, it’s just easier to handle over email than in the forum thread.)

It works again, thank you, @abbytrevor

Heroes of Myth was one of my favourite games. It even inspired me to create one of my best drawings.

My Heroes of Myth MC

So I’m super excited about this game. The word count is promising too. Though I started two games at the same time so my progress is slow. I’ll probably come back later, when I can comment about this game more.

Can I return one or both of the eyes to Leviathan and still side with Galdrin?

Not exactly - Leviathan is angry enough that it’s pretty much going to press on with attacking Galdrin even if you return the Eyes, so there isn’t an option to do it while you’ve sided with Galdrin because there’s no situation where it wouldn’t make things significantly worse for you. That said, there are a few possibilities that might get at something similar to what you’re looking for: it’s possible to persuade Leviathan to ultimately leave Galdrin in peace, whether you’re on Galdrin’s side or Leviathan’s. So it would be possible to side with Leviathan, return one or both of the Eyes to it, and then convince it to leave Galdrin alone, although not without some collateral damage first. It’s also possible in some cases to give the Eyes to Cecilia in the epilogue and have her then give them to Leviathan, although that’s mostly presented as a negative outcome and would probably be hard to do deliberately - there’s a lot going on behind the scenes determining whether Cecilia keeps the Eye(s) for herself or brings them back to Leviathan at that point.

This one was as good as Heroes of Myth and Stars Arisen, two of the best CoG games imho. I enjoyed both main paths very much. I can say for certain that no matter what I choose, Cecilia is the best girl.

I finally finished the IF Book, and I loved playing as a ghost it’s fun along with commanding the fellow ghosts to do my bidding for fights. Although I ended up dating Frey I did like the extra interactions with Cecilia, so i tried to befriend her at every choice apart and her ending scene was a nice way to add closure.

Also I liked the chapter saves and I plan to go back and try out different endings for the Ch 10 and epligue.

Long time lurker emerging from the deep to show my appreciation!

This story hit me right in the heart. I work in oceanography, am a big fantasy fan, and I love tragic characters. I bought it as a treat to myself since I’ve been recovering from a bad injury, and I’ve been replaying it non-stop.

Perhaps I’m not the best player, but I do find it delightful when my stats don’t always align with the choices I’m given. This game makes being wrong very thrilling. Even heroes aren’t perfect

Thank you dear author for crafting such a beautiful story!

That’s the best thing about CoG games in particular - you really can’t be bad at them. Every ending is valid, and even “bad” endings are written to be a fulfilling conclusion to the story. And by design, there’s no one ideal approach, or even one narrowly defined goal. The story becomes what you make it, something truly yours as well as the author’s.

Welcome to the community! And I hope you feel better soon!

P.S. If you haven’t yet, I recommend you check out Atlantis Academy, The Sea Eternal, and Stars Arisen.

Holy hell, this game is great! It might just be my favorite choice game out there, only tied with Zombie Exodus and Siege of Treboulain. I loved Cecilia and played a few chapters over and over again to see all the things she could say and do. Truly a 10 out of 10 game — shame it isn’t more popular tho cant wait to see whats in store for the future.

Uh, question how do you get the achievement “The Abyss Gazes Also: Offer a new kind of companionship” (20 points)? Does that mean it’s possible to romance the Leviathan, or is it something else?

I’m pretty sure that’s exactly what that achievement is referring to .

Wait, how do we romance him then? I haven’t seen any dialogue options about that
