Mini Update - Jan 7th, 2021
Hi everyone! I want to thank you again for all your interest in and support for my game. I’m absolutely floored by it and I hope you like what’s to come in the story!
I have edited the demo on dashingdon to update the current chapters with a few changes. These include:
- New scene (~500 words) added to the middle of chapter 3, gives more background on MC and Drew’s relationship and helps w/ pacing
- Added option to willingly go to OFNA with the intent to learn more before deciding anything
- Added option to input MC’s hair color if you choose ‘dyed hair’ in the hair color selection choice
- Additional choices/reactions in some places
- Messed around with some stats to balance them better
- By popular request, there is now exactly one path and stat check where you can successfully punch Elliot. Have fun!
Also, there has been some interest in nicknaming your familiar. I have added a variable for it to the startup file (among some other ones) and will implement this in a future chapter. I think this means you need to redo any save files? (I’m not actually sure how dashingdon’s save system works…)
At this point, I am probably not going to make any more additions to chapters 1 through 3 in the public version of the demo. I want to get back to where I was in chapter 4 and (hopefully) get that out in February!

I imagine he’s not pleased with mcs that go this route and later affects your relationship with him? It’d be cute if the MC apologizes shyly later.

Sorry, yes I am defintely still grateful for whatever feedback you all provide!
I probably will not be updating those chapters anymore for everyone unless there’s a major change needed or someone finds a bug or something. I’ll just make a note of it and get to it in my private version when I have time or am farther into the story.

So, I’m not going to lock anyone out of a romance or anything, but I did store the punch as a permanent variable and it might come up from time to time again later in the story.
I mean he doesn’t love it but you’re not the only person who punched him that day and he’ll get over it. He was trying to kidnap you, after all.

Awesome, thanks! I just have a couple super minor things, but didn’t want to nitpick if you weren’t currently looking for feedback. 
So when you reference your minimum wage soul (great line!) my thought is that servers typically don’t make minimum wage, especially not in a diner. I don’t know if that’s worth changing though, because I really like the line.
With choosing: “Who cares what time it is? They seem like they could tip well, and god knows you could use the money. Might as well butter them up.” It’s repeated on the next screen after you tell them that they can order food. To me, it reads a bit like you’re having the same exact thought twice; once when you choose it, and once when it’s in the text.
This is just a general observation, not a request of any kind, but I’m not on board with Jeremy calling me kid!

I had the same thought but also liked the line so I left it in 
I may revise it at some point. Maybe I could change it just a little bit and have mostly the same sentiment.
Do you just not like the nickname or is it because they’re an RO that you don’t like it? Just curious! But I do have a j_nick variable coded in so the nickname can and will be updated throughout the story FYI and there will be a chance to say “I’m not even sure if you’re older than me” or something along those lines.
And I will check on the repeating text, thank you! I know I’ve done that accidentally a few times throughout.

Keeping it as a permanent variable makes it BETTER.
Catch me romancing Elliot and punching him in the same playthrough. Only 300 IQ plays here.

Easy. Step 1 be angry about the cult and being forced into it.
Step 2 refuse to show up on your own and make them send someone to get you.
Step 3 click option depicting connecting fist to face.
Step 4 profit

Oh sorry didn’t meat to post that. That was an excerpt from my day planner for the next week cause you know bird brain deserves it and more and since for the moment that is the only pain I can inflict on him till the option to tie him to a flag pole in his underwear with a sign that says “I’m a kidnapping bird cultist.” Around his neck becomes available.
