The entire United Fleet is currently led by Grand Admiral Victor Maximoff, who was already a well respected officer before the War of Annihilation, and became a legend afterwards. He’s certainly a Hackett like figure.
That said, your dad is also well respected. It’s worth noting that even if you don’t pick the Admiral background, your father still exists. Well he’s not your father anymore, but he is still Admiral Forest, commanding officer of 3rd Fleet, 2nd Armada. He will make an appearance later on regardless of whether you’re related or not.
I was reading the code and I noticed that there was a ‘set Lucas_skill +1’ variable, but it doesn’t seem to affect anything? I thought that it would at least change his win-loss record a bit but it’s static.
Also during the passage about space sickness there’s this:
*if home = “miner”
*set crew_loyalty %+10
*set Callaway %-5
That is set before it changes depending on if you’re a Captain or a Commander, meaning if you’re a Captain then Callaway is cursing your existence from another ship.
Happy December everyone! It looks like it’s time for another monthly update.
Obviously this past month was a big one, with me putting the finishing touches on and releasing Chapter 3. Thank you all again for your feedback and support in that regard, it was more than I could have hoped for!
Moving forward you can expect a few things in the coming days and weeks. I’m going to push another minor update to fix some of the things mentioned more recently since my previous minor update. Nothing major, just correcting some typos and things people pointed out. I also plan on getting a Tumblr up and running relatively soon. Maybe even a discord if I’m feeling ambitious.
Other than that though, I’m just working on Chapter 4. I’ve started, but aren’t very far into it just yet. However, as I’ve mentioned in the past, I suspect this one is going to be shorter than Chapter 3, which hopefully means you’re not waiting around another six months for an update. (Famous last words, I know).
With all that said, I’ll end with what at this point is probably getting old, but is no less true than the first time I said it. Thank you all so much for your continued support and interest in this little story of mine. It means a great deal to me.
Odd. Are you sure you have 65+ adaptability during the battle? If your fatigue is too high, a temporary debuff is applied to all stats during the fight (to simulate the effects that lack of proper rest can have on the human mind) and might have dropped it below the threshold. It’s removed at the end of the battle so it is admittedly easy to miss. That’s my only guess right now, but if it’s not that please let me know so I can look into it more. Thanks for the feedback.
That’s weird when I posted the problem , I had tried multiple times getting adaptability to 65 and 66 , checked it right before the stat check and still failed.
But I tried it today with the same exact choices and got 64 adaptability. I believe it might have just been some visual bug on my end . Sorry for disturbing you
Can we get like, a POV of ordinary character on our ship like how they see us and what exactly going through there mind during that time. Like in the boarding action we can have a small POV of marine Vs your own ship security depending on what you choose and one more I can think of when you manage to win against her ( I forgot her name) in the last battle during the academy like how when you win other cades reaction. It will be interesting like in few places around the whole game one or two page POV.
I won’t be switching POV exactly, but there should be opportunities in the future for you to get insight into how other people view you. Whether that be positive or… less than positive.
I got a question, I what’s the advantage of performing well in academy you will get the same ship, it’s kinda take the only the best will become the captain scale. If you perform really well you are one of the top 5, or I can understand if you are 10-11 when you are playing the youngest character in top 20 of your class and have defeated your last opponent ( I forgot her name) it’s understandable that you get the captain and a new ship because of potential to grow is very strong. But if you intentionally buter your reputation and absolutely bad score what happened you still get the same ship, there should be a text flavour of what condition you get that ship and just change stats of the ships or reputation, since no matter if you have 68 reputation or 38 you get 26 reputation when you become a caption understandable but getting no benefit or penalty if you perform well in academy make it feel like your actions have no consequence.
Your reputation stat is higher, and you can take more of the admirals support offers e.g. marines and fighters rather than having to pick one or the other
