Alright finished writing the last two pages last night and it is in for edits :smile:. I feel I am on track to put out the full opening update for the first. I still have a lot of little chunks of coding to do and finish a lot in the stat screen.

Happy dance, have finally recoded the log tracker so it now shows the order in which you make your choices. It is something that I will be leaving in game but proved to be a huge challenge for me to make work correctly.

Still have a mountain of code that is causing me problems such as the age display and birthday tracker. I have moved all the stats to a choice that wll be offered each time there are choices. The biggest reason is I had 800+ line of code and the stat screen was not really liking that. Now I can break this all up and use gosub_scene.

Pushing hard to make the 1st update and while coding is much slower while I am on the road I still think I am on track for it. :smile:

No time for coding the next couple of days due to time constraints of the load I am under so just plotting out the story line. Trying to give the game a sandbox feel without the impossible amount of code that would be required to make a true sandbox world.

There are two main plot lines which can be looped into each other. The frist plot line is to free your family, second is to ftee Raven. Of course what would be and RPG game without mini paths.

The first plot line will allow you to explore the city of Torif and follow up to seventy mini missions. The scond plot line will lead you across Norif giving you many changes to interact with smaller towns and villages.You will be offered up to fourty mini missions as well.

You can follow just the main paths, or do some if not all the mini games. Along the way you will be able to build skills through traing, books, and magic. Of course there is a long list of skills to choose from so choose wisely

Someday you need to write a CoG about being a long hauler … just don’t go the Ice Road route and I’m sure it would become a best seller.

I have just finished the skills list which gives you 49 choices, with many of them combinable and more then a few sub-choices. Still have to tie this into the level page but won’t be that much effort involved with that.

I still need to reset from first death using a Gods coin. Very rare and power little item, perhaps maybe three can be found in the first book. I do not like killing a player off right from off the bat but wanted to show there are consequences for your choices. Using the Gods coin will jump you back in time to your last choice so you do not need to atart over from the begining. Unsure if I will keep these in the full version.

As I still have a mountain of code to add in after the update I really feel a save system at this point would be rather pointless. To many var and changing of code would make the saves invaild.

I think the mojority of the coding I still need to do is in the lapstone acreen as a lot is going on there plus I still have three pages to code in the log page, which by the way now shows which order you do make your choices. With code, word count is know 82K, more then likely going to break 90k before it is time to put out this update. :smile:

I think I am going code blind lol. Ok so I still have a lot of background code I need to finish but with so much going on I think I am missing things. Therefore putting the update out early to ask for help finding.

Hmm a lot of views and 4 likes. I am thankful for the likes but comments, good, bad, or indifferent are helpful. I realize this will not be to everyone’s cup of tea but please leave a comment. This not only helpful with development and it keeps me motivated. It is hard to write something so big and not even get a negative comment lol. Spelling, bug finds, or even reasons you dislike it, no worries I have a thick skin, are helpful thanks. :smile:

I have the books requested. As you hurry to bring the books to him you trip on something books go flying everywhere as you are headed for a face plant. After “something” should there be a period? It kind of reads as a run on sentence, I hope this helps. Also when I close the stats thing, the uh “lapstone thingy” during the choosing weapon scene. it goes to the “play again” screen. Sorry about the formatting, I’m on my phone. Am I doing this right?

I love all the choices but when I get to the skills list it will let me pick my skills. But then it will go straight to the play again screen. It will not let me make any wepon choices. I don’t know if it was just the combination of skills I picked or what. Still seems interesting though can’t wait to read more.

It is very slow going as it is a complex game and my job takes up a large amount of my time, but thanks to your feedback I’ll keep plugging away at it. :smile:

It was a very pesky bug, but in the process of fixing it. I improve a bit of code that was bugging me, fixed the run on words, fixed another bug I did not spot before, and solved.the original bug. :smile: All thanks you guys and gals so thank you.

**Edit seems I failed.to notice up til now that when I copied the edits from google doc it changed the formating which is causimg all the strange text. I now have to go back through and hunt this all done and correct which is going to be very time consuming so sorry for the yet another delay.

I have slacked off the last week as I have been in the truck to long lol but the itch to write is coming back. Will be working on finishing up all the loose end but also now adding in @CitizenShawn inventory system which is going to be a challange, but one I am looking forward to. :smile:

Once I have add this will update again. Most of the next update, which may take some time to combine into my system, will be background mechanical system code so you will not see much change in the game.

I will have to take some time out after adding the inventory system as I have a lot of map work that needs to be done. Sadly my laptop cannot handle the map program so I only can do this while at home. During the gaps I cannot be home I will be adding the very long list to the inventory.

I have four final steps that will be needed to be completed before moving on with the story.

  1. Battle code
  2. NPC’s List
  3. Monster list
  4. Magic.

Still a long ways to go but I have my sights on having this all completed by the end of the year. The bulk of the code will be in place then will begin the story phase of the project which is going to be fairly large. Right now guessing the game will be in the range of 600k to 900k. Not the biggest out there but still a massive bit of work. Book two and three should be about the same size.

I plan on having demos up for each next section of code for testing such as shopping and battle. Once I go into writing phase I will leave the opening section open to the public but will be looking for beta testers as this will be closed testing.

Spent the last two days working on maps but tonight I am writing. I have Torif, the capital city, broken up into 16 Districts. I have also developed an encounter system for traveling between the districts, many sub plot lines are mixed into these. Currently writing out the shop and services for each district, turning into a sizable list. An example is district 1: West Port has fourteen places you can visit for buying goods or interacting to find other sub plot lines. This is going to be a rather massive section as I am also binding in the inventory system as well so going to take a month or better to complete, so if I am silent for a while just know I am working very hard on the next update. Also any bugs or problems you run across let me know so I can add them in for the next update thanks.

I appear to be stuck on the “level up” screen.

I try to pick “I am Done” but that choice leads me to the weapon skills upgrades.

Is this supposed to happen?

No it should go on to the last two pages I will try to replicate the bug tonight thanks.

*Edit going to call it a night. Spent about six hours working on shops then three hours working on improving the level up page. Nine hours of work yet lol only the smallest of dent into both. Have one more night at home but will be putting time into my other game. Take care all.
