I would but any sign of being different the goverment would take them away… hmm on second thought could add something under the flaws, somethimg they have to hide. Muwahahaha

Thanks to @CitizenShawn first round of edits are done and I am working on fleshing out the last half of the opening. It may still be a few weeks before I have an update ready, sorry working hard but a LOT of content that needs to play nice with each other still. I am excited to put it up but this time around I want something that is complete so we can do some real bug hunt and what not.

In the flaws you will be able to pick some of the racial traits but was wondering what you all would like to see. Elf is one of the most hated of the races but the traits are a bit simpler to hide. If you would like to see a trait i will also need some way of hiding it. Elf ears can be hid under a hat, being short like a Dwarf can be passed off with out much effort, etc…

Any ideas are welcome, looking for about 10 to 15 of them. Thanks

What are some distinct details of some of the races?

I thought about this for a long time but I am going to go with the classic races, think Lord of the rings with exception of Elves. Three finger blue tint tall and skinny with the classic pointy ears.

How about having webbed feet or maybe white eyes so you pretend your blind…that would be difficult to write actually

Progress update: Moving right along but I think this is going to be a month before I will have an update for you all. I have two pages still to go through on the opening, I am also redoing a fair amount of the var to make the system work better. Then I will be adding in the inventory system then have to write the var one more time to match features in the inventory system lol. Add all the items in for the shops and set locations and names. Then the battle system, which I am very happy to say works well.

I will not be putting the battle system in the update as that is going to be a fairly long stretch as I have to write all the magic and monster into the system. Going through and cleaning four years of notes and failed ideas so this is also time consuming. Still I am rather upbeat about the project. Will keep ya posted and thanks for hanging in there for me.

Progress report. Not much time this week so only small progress. Have fleshed out the last page and added the missing encounter. There is now an easter egg and you will also be able to try and crack the lock on a lapstone. Need to still finish one page and fill out the flaws and skills page. Still one week out on the road and close of CScomp is right around the corner so many be two weeks before I can work on this again. Sorry no update on the opening until I get it where it can be fully beta tested. Thanks for hanging in there.

I am plugging away at the lock pick program, it works great but it was pointed out it need a little something more so busy adding it.

I am debating if to add classes such as fighter, thief, etc. You cannot choose a race as you are a mix of the different races. But still uncertain if you want the classic style of class or just go with skills that will award you different titles.

Both require a bit of coding to setup but need to decide so I know which direction to go. A little poll time.

  • Classic class system
  • Custom class system
  • Title and skill system
  • Other

I got some old dormant code I can let you have for title implementation if you want.

That would be awesome thanks

I have decided, and the votes helped thanks, to go with title and skill checks. Moved one set closer to finishing the lock add on code. Lvl ten is working and very happy with the results. Still have to program for lvl three through nine but now that it works worth the effort.

Alright five plus hours of coding and I have the new code for the lock section done. Have also added four new achievements. Now back to the flaws page, inch by inch getting close to finish the opening.

Well CSComp went over very well  and great job on all those submission. Been working as often as possible on this and still have a lot of odds and ends to still do.

Currently working on the log list which will allow you to go to stat screen and see the choices you have made. The reasoning behind it is hopefully it will help with bug hunting. Simply go to the log copy and paste and the bug you hit.

I am working hard to have to opening done by the first of Aug. but I will not have the inventory or battle system in there yet. Those are going to be very big projects to blend in so more then likely will be separate updates.

That’s a great idea. The game freezes at an error but the stats screen doesn’t!

I skimmed through our many conversations and can’t say you said it directly but I am confident the concept can from something you said.

Edit ow we talking about allowing the player to track their progress or something very close to that.

Alright I have six pages done for the log for a total of 68 choices. I left the code simple so I will know which choices you made but it may not necessarily be in the order you choose them. This is just a tool for bug hunting. Of course if I get a lot of feedback saying they really would like this in the game then I will take the time to add more code to have it show the choices you made in the order that you made them.

I still have to finish up a lot of code in the last half of the section then have edits done before I add the code to the last four pages for the log. One more step down but how many more to finsh this darn opening lol. Reminds me of that Christmas song put one foot in front of the other and soon you’ll be walking out the door. Lol
