Uh-oh. I’m noticing another problem.

Each place you have a *rand check, if a player goes to the stats screen and returns to the game, the *rand is re-rolled, leading to a different result coming back from the stats screen as going in to it.

Luckily! This just so happens to be the very problem I was having a couple days ago which Vendetta helped me solve. - By predetermining the *rand rolls. Essentially, numbering/naming a bunch of *rand rolls and setting them all up at the beginning of the game. Like calling the check to determing your name *rand namecheck 1 X, at the beginning of the game, and then inserting the *if namecheck (or whatever) =, !=, >, <, ect where you need it. Separating the *rand roll from the content determined by it with a *page_break seems to be the only way to solve the problem. Letting you know now because it will take some re-coding. It did for me. : \

Yes I do know the limits and frustration with *rand, have been removing as many as I can.I think I only have one set that I still have not been able to remove with out the desired affect. As far as I can recall it is only on one page but for the life of me right now cannot recall what it does. I have no *rand in the stat screen so it is happening from one of the pages before going into the stats. What is it you notice that was being affected. Thanks.

*Edit if it the weather you noticed, that will be resolved with the new weather system I am currently writing, there will be no *rand commands for that.

The name your mother calls you, and the time of day you’re born, seem to be randomized.

Hmm ok maybe I still have two *rand problems to resolve lol. Thanks for the spot.

Alright looking through, yes the name does change and I will have to fix that. The clock does change as it should. If you look below the clock you will see:

You were born on
Feb/15/1214
You were born in the morning hours. - (this will change dependent on the time of day you were born but so far once it is set I do not see it changing.)

Of course testing this back and forth trying to replicate the problem I found another bug in the clock code :unamused: Should be a simple matter to track this bug down tonight. I may need to space out all the info so when you were born to make it stand out more.

*Edit finally the update is showing.

  1. “Scar” not “scare”
  2. And that bracket randomly there

Thanks for the spot have fixed will show up in the next update.

Working on a sizable update for tonight, that is if the royal family leaves me be for a few hours. I have named them such as they are being a royal pain in my behind, lol. Is it not enough that I am sacrificing my time to write tomorrow so we can have a family day. They are prying my keyboard from my grasp to go fishing. Like sun and fun is a good thing.

Will try and do what I can today, and have a sizable list to try and tackle, no pun intended. Maybe I can sneak my phone and work on my other game tomorrow. :stuck_out_tongue:

I found a bug (sorry if it been reported already) after I choose a weapon (I chose the short sword) the game resets to my birthday and it asks for my name again.

*Edit maybe its my ghost game trying to creep in since I have ignored it so long. lol

After testing it has to be coming from the server. It really has a problem with updating text. When I upload the changes tonight I will make a fresh link, this should solve the problem for now. Will have to do some reading to see if I can find a way to refresh the server to display the new text files when I upload them right away.

Ok have update the link in the top post. Was trying to work for a few more hours but the family demands will not end so this is it for a couple of days.
Fixed a few mods
fixed good vrs evil bug
fixed spelling and bracket
finished page 8 which defines your action a tab bit on good and evil
fixed clock bug
Was working on a new layout for the stat screen but the name var pops up for a strang reason where it should not. Its ghosting on me and driving me crazy trying to find why. Will try again when I have fresh eyes.

Don’t know why, but when I hit the ‘next’ button at ‘I have the books’, the game basically crashes, without a coding error- it says ‘there was a network error while loading game data’ (I don’t think this has to do with my internet, unless it’s that I’m using Chrome)- though if I from there go to the stats and back, it continues. Also, in the options, for the first choice, you misspelled ‘opposite’ as ‘oppiste’. Also ‘starting’ as ‘startng’ for ‘starting down the darker path’ (somehow? How did I become evil?) Then there’s ‘Your know fourteen’ which should be ‘You are now fourteen’. (are you using a mobile? Turn autocorrect off if you can ; P ) Then ‘their hungry’ should be ‘they’re hungry’. - The network error is happening a lot trying to play the game, actually. Can anyone else say if they have this problem?

This game is is buggier than Detroit motel room. Jeez.

For some reason that post made me think of the old movie ‘Joe’s Apartment’. XD

This might be a pricey solution but a proper grammar checker works wonders XD https://www.grammarly.com/ .So far I like the premise and it seems you have an ideal of where you are going XD. On the stat selection a lot of people have a prefence of what type of character they wish to play and it seems off putting if we are not able to create that character. So maybe a point trade so we could move points from one attribute to another.

I may need to start compiling the game I guess maybe that will solve it.

@Jinx_the_Atomic_Cat
This game is under development so I realize there may be some problems, but just calling it buggy real does not help me fix the problems. If you would point out where the problems are I can address them.

@Pace675 I will be adding a place to adjust your stats before jumping into the game kinda think the goat test from Fallout. CSIDE has a spell check and I use it as much as possible but I am dyslexic and struggle with language, that is why I am always happy when you all point out spelling or grammar problems.

@everyone
I will finish the opening here in a week or two then focus on the battle system and all the problem code. Thanks

Alright just concept thoughts. Have been thinking on how I can address the player being able to change stats. By the time you finish jumping through time you with lvl up.

Each time you lvl up you will be presented with points and choices where you can set the points. You will be abe to use these points on stats, skills, or weapons skill. Stats can not exceed 18, it will require special training or magic to raise above that mark. Weapon skill will not exceed 10 without magic.

There are many races in the game but the player will only able to play human, I think once it is discovered why they can only choose human will make a huge amount of sense, but must stay hush hush for now as it would be a spolier.

I will compile the next update in the hopes it plays better. Heading back out on the road for two week so progress is going to be slow. Plus, the close of the CScomp is coming soon and will be very busy.

Alright I have compiled what I have, not a update per say, but loads faster and seems to work better. I am hoping to have a few hours free tonight to work on an update, close to finishing the opening then can go back and work on all the code. In the meantime please let me know if you hit any bugs, thanks.

I crammed tonight so bug city and some be gaps, but it passes quicktest and I have the general layout I need. So now you will go up a lvl, then pick flaws then bump up stats and weapon skills. I did upload but even with it complied it still takes time for the server to show the changes, more then likely late morning before it updates. It does have a lot of problems but pushing towards the end of the opening. I have a long list of changes, filler code that need to be completed, design changes, bug fixes that still need to be done. On top that I still need to finish the battle system which is a huge project in its self. No fears  I am moving in the right direction and feel good so shall keep at it.

The update never did show from last time so have now fixed. Just a reminder the flaws section is incomplete. But for the most part you can adjust your stats. I still also need to code in the reset feature.

I am currently working on a very sizable update, of course the CScomp is coming to a close for the writer’s so I am going to get very busy. More then likely will not have this update done for a few weeks. On the list of updates.

Added two magical item
Adding all the plus type weapons, still need to create specialty types
Adding the closing two pages of the opening part of the game, these come after you adjust your stats.
Adding all 157 books to the store section for testing, I still need to write out roughly another 100 books as the first set mostly deal with your stats where the second set will bring your skills up.
You can now go to the shops from the main link so they can be tested
Fixing some grammar and a slew of bugs.
