Alrighty then!
Nack just reminded me.
Special characters? :]
Ace Ventura- Pet detective~
It’s on my To Do list but my goal right now is to get the first 7-8 chapters up. It takes a long time to factor in professions. For example, with the carpenter, in the scene with Brad the injured man in the apartment lobby, I put in ways to break down the door that only a carpenter can do. That is a completely extra choice option I had to write, which is very time consuming. But I really like the idea of replaying the game with other professions, so it is definitely something I will do.
I put in the minister, because I have never seen a character like it in all of the zombie comics, movies, and TV shows I’ve watched. (There is a movie coming out called Priest, who fights undead, but I haven’t seen it). The idea of a gun-toting preacher zombie hunter seems bad ass. Right now, I consider minister hard mode, though there are actually extra options for the minister that can get he or she out of trouble. The soldier is easy mode but I like the idea of a Special Forces veteran playing through the story.
I definitely want to do:
- medical doctor
- teacher (important later in the story)
- fireman
- and something completely different, like a rodeo clown
Thanks for the ideas, and I am certainly willing to add in anything people want to see.
MrYoungzman- Wow Thats the first anyone time guessed that guy.
Jim- Heres and idea like in some movies it shows US troops jumping out of a helicopter into a heavy combat zone maybe if ur a soldier u could make a part that a soldier does that or something like jumping out of an explosion or fire. Maybe a part with some religious fundamentalist.
Nack, I’m not sure where I can fit it in, but if I can find a good place, it sounds like a good idea.
You can do whatever you want its your game.
I have put up a new chapter of Zombie Exodus, available here:
http://zombieexodus.com/mygame/index.html
It is still in beta testing, so please feel free to send comments, criticisms, etc. I also added a “table of contents” so you can choose which part to play (1 - Escape or 2 - Exodus). I am not including it past beta but am using it for my own testing and thought people who played it that want to skip ahead may appreciate it.
Nice. The way I did it, though, was quite short (Highway), with a lack of problems, but it was still really well written, and got me interested in that game straight away (again!)
This is getting really good man, i’ve played both parts so far, and i’m looking foward to part two! One thing i will say though, is that i agree with Devex, my choice for the expressway was also quite devoid of problems. Though still interesting. :).
My thought for the start of Part II is to develop the relationships among the players. So most choices for the next few chapters just gives ways to increase or decrease how well liked you are by Emma, Heather, and Devlin, which I track with hidden variables. There’s less action, more character development.
Do you think it needs more action?
Hey Jim in the first part I took my research notes. Then when the I talked to the guard honestly and he asked for proof I could not show him my research notes.
Also In the first part, I never got the rifle but in Exodus it gives me the option to use it.
I just checked and the research notes section should be ok. If you take them in the beginning, there is a selectable option to choose “Show them your research files”. I will try it a few times to see if maybe the logic gets bugged.
For Exodus, for the testing phase, I am just letting people pick whatever they want even if they didn’t get the items in Part 1.
Wow, wow, wow. Love this game.
Still noticing a few gender swaps, being referred to in Part 2 as “he” when I should be a “she”.
Also, this might be a silly question, but is it possible to die yet in this game? I’m the kind of player who likes trying a really self destructive way of playing on occasion, but I’ve survived it all so far.
@tveldore, thanks! I will have to look at Part 2 more. Sorry about the gender issues.
Yes you can die in Part 1, but I didn’t put too many ways. It will be easier in Part 2, because there will be zombie and human threats.
You step up to the glass door.
“Officer, I am a research scientist…”
At this part I chose Explain honestly that you can help the government to find a cure
Then this is what happens
Murdock shifts in his feet. “Do you have any proof?”
You realize your research files are upstairs in the apartment but have no desire to trek back to get them. You have made it this far and need to figure another way to get past these policemen.
explain you need to reach your sister.
fight my way out.
use Candace and Mindy to get past the cops.
bribe your way out.
This happens even if I have the research papers.
@cool74 is the option gray: Show them your research files
If so, it means you didn’t take the research files in the beginning. I just tried playing the game with the research files and it does work. If you are sure you picked them, I’ll change the programming around and test it further. It’s odd because I have checked and re-checked the code.
In the version I am seeing it is not even an option. Did you do the steps I took?
Bug! When I went to threaten the nerd[Sorry, can’t remember the name, kinda sped through to the option until I got there], and seeing a new option I decided to click the “Give me the phone or I’ll break your neck” option.
Encountered this:
@cool74 I will have to do more thorough testing. Thanks for testing it.
@MrYoungzman I fixed it. Thanks for the screenshot.
