Hello, thanks for checking it out. To start out with, a lot of what you’re asking is stuff I’ve been planning and thinking up in my head already. I’m unsure if I’ve stated anywhere else on some of these things, but as the story goes on, what’s shown in the stats screen becomes more and more understandable as to why that’s there.
As it is, soon after what’s already posted, the PC can mention how they can “sense” these sorts of things innately, and then someone makes an offhanded joke about literal stats. Then it’s discovered that that’s actually the case, however there’s a lot missing from what would have been other stats in the in game game. And the reason you only see the other coworkers in the relationship screen is because you have a literal connection with them that the player can actually gauge and sense. For everyone else, you kind of have to read into it and feel everything out (as you would a real relationship). And there is a tiny time frame where Darien is in the stats screen, but that’s more just a joke for people who check the stats after every click (which I too am guilty of).
Let’s see, appearance will come back later. There’s a reason that one with the odd fish bowl helmet is so focused on you.
I do like having other races being a thing. Magic exists, after all. That means natural and artificial selection would allow more diverse and wondrous things popping up all over the place.
On good and evil, yes and no. I’m of the mind that it’s mostly subjective, so instead of thinking stuff that way, I try to view is as “motivations and end goals”. This helps me, especially, since I 9 times out of 10 will play as the shining golden child of the world trying to right every wrong. And by thinking of simply “what are people trying to get”, then I can put morality to the side and let the player choose what they want. That said, morality isn’t absent. Some people might still have something to say if you do something that is just “inherently wrong” or “right”.
And I do have a plan for different focuses in magic. I’ve tried hinting at this at the campfire scene, with Barry’s magic seeming to be more “ethereal” or abstract than Tyson’s ice. And because the mages get to branch off a little, I’m also working on ways to let others branch off so it’s fair all around.
Leveling up… Kind of? The player will definitely get stronger as the story progresses, but so too will the others. Some will devote a lot of time to this very end, and for others, it might just be a perk that comes with other things they’re doing. Already, each of them is more capable than a typical human of this new world.
I think that’s everything. Hope I answered it all. And again, thank you for reading it and enjoying it.
