This game is absolutely incredible so far! Honestly, I love everything about it.

The initial writing was good. When I first started up I was excited to get to know my new co-workers and explore your ideas of game development. I have to admit to initially being a little salty at not being able to join the writing team but further in game that decision makes so much more sense.

Getting in game? Wow! I have to admit to being startled at the characters saying my MC’s name-- which, playing as yourself makes this game a million times more meta, and I love it.

Secondly. Wow! Just wow. Your storytelling is so good! I can see every RPG I’ve ever played and an entirely new one while reading your words. “Trapped in a virtual world” is not a new concept, and yet you’ve breathed so much life into this idea.

I haven’t even finished my initial run and I just had to stop and praise you. Your pacing, your characters and this incredibly honest and hilarious narrative are just SO good. I can’t wait to keep playing and see this finished and read more from you.

I did notice a few typos here and there, but I haven’t documented them just yet. But you have so far is beautiful and so immersive you made my escapist heart cry with joy.

I just know this game will be legendary when finished. It’s incredible so far.

Thank you so much. That’s a lot of praise I wasn’t expecting, and I’m really glad that you enjoyed it. Believe me, this story is something that I think a lot about even when away from it.

I’m not sure when the next update will be, but I want it to be substantial enough to warrant it. I do have some new things already, but I want every path to feel right before updating everything.

Again, thank you very much and I hope you continue to enjoy the rest.

Don’t blame you. Authors shouldn’t have to keep up with demands anyway.

Hello, I’ve just finished playing the alpha version and it was very…it was interesting.

The exposition was entertaining - perhaps more in the artists and audio employees corners, though.

You did a fair job of handling 9 characters with just distinct enough personalities.

I was a little disappointed that no NPC appeared in the relationship list in the stats and Morris and the D. guy…well, you know. But then I read your post about being able to have solid interactions with some of them later and…yeah!

The different appearance we choose for our avatar didn’t translate once the MC get stuck in the game…but I can understand how that would make things too complicated to handle realistically if a roleplay skill was in the mix. After all we can already customize the MC. (Imagine roleplaying someone who would roleplay. Heh.)

Oh, another thing that especially important for me: will there be other intelligent races, or is the setting in a human-only world? I mean will there be strange things, xenophobia-sensible med-fan stuff? Different kingdoms? Will some characters be able to align with the bad guys like in WoW, or something? Or is the only difference with our world a matter of: different time period + magic + dragons?
Talking about magic: Will it be a skill with a sort of alignment, or will there be different schools with different specializations, etc. ?

But most importantly, since we’re talking LitRPG : will the player-employees be able to level up?

I know I’m asking a lot of things and I don’t want to make you feel pressured (really don’t mean to) … But I can’t help it! CX Your game got my imagination running ; I mean this is a freaking LitRPG interactive story! It’s bound to be made of awesome, anyway.
I was just hoping the guys at Choice of Games would eventually launch a series like that and I stumble on this.
Thank you for making this come true!

Oh gosh I really like this. The descriptions are clear and comprehensive (and the game inside the game definitively feels like an RPG haha). I love the sense of humor, especially Zoey and Claire’s XD They had me laughing or smiling almost every time they spoke :joy: And I love the different dynamics between the group members!! Will we get to see/hear what happened to the group members that we didn’t stay with? Also, I thought I would like Nelson as an RO the most but by the time I finished the current version of the demo, I actually liked Barry more ahaha and strangely, I’m curious about Louis after his reaction to the split too

Hello, thanks for checking it out. To start out with, a lot of what you’re asking is stuff I’ve been planning and thinking up in my head already. I’m unsure if I’ve stated anywhere else on some of these things, but as the story goes on, what’s shown in the stats screen becomes more and more understandable as to why that’s there.

As it is, soon after what’s already posted, the PC can mention how they can “sense” these sorts of things innately, and then someone makes an offhanded joke about literal stats. Then it’s discovered that that’s actually the case, however there’s a lot missing from what would have been other stats in the in game game. And the reason you only see the other coworkers in the relationship screen is because you have a literal connection with them that the player can actually gauge and sense. For everyone else, you kind of have to read into it and feel everything out (as you would a real relationship). And there is a tiny time frame where Darien is in the stats screen, but that’s more just a joke for people who check the stats after every click (which I too am guilty of).

Let’s see, appearance will come back later. There’s a reason that one with the odd fish bowl helmet is so focused on you.

I do like having other races being a thing. Magic exists, after all. That means natural and artificial selection would allow more diverse and wondrous things popping up all over the place.

On good and evil, yes and no. I’m of the mind that it’s mostly subjective, so instead of thinking stuff that way, I try to view is as “motivations and end goals”. This helps me, especially, since I 9 times out of 10 will play as the shining golden child of the world trying to right every wrong. And by thinking of simply “what are people trying to get”, then I can put morality to the side and let the player choose what they want. That said, morality isn’t absent. Some people might still have something to say if you do something that is just “inherently wrong” or “right”.

And I do have a plan for different focuses in magic. I’ve tried hinting at this at the campfire scene, with Barry’s magic seeming to be more “ethereal” or abstract than Tyson’s ice. And because the mages get to branch off a little, I’m also working on ways to let others branch off so it’s fair all around.

Leveling up… Kind of? The player will definitely get stronger as the story progresses, but so too will the others. Some will devote a lot of time to this very end, and for others, it might just be a perk that comes with other things they’re doing. Already, each of them is more capable than a typical human of this new world.

I think that’s everything. Hope I answered it all. And again, thank you for reading it and enjoying it.

Holy heavens @Mfloyd is alive!!!
(I thought this wip was going to the shadow realms)

Thanks! I’ll try to approach each point with its own paragraph.

Again, thank you. I’m definitely trying to make this feel like a video game world that’s just been upgraded to some place where people might have to actually live in. And thanks for liking those two people’s humor. I don’t want to say I have favorites (and realistically, I don’t, they each have quirks I like), but some dialogue is more fun for myself to write than others.

You do get to hear how everyone’s doing (to degrees upon who’s asking/being asked and how they might feel about you), but I decided that I’d have a rotating cast of who’s on various journeys with you. As a rule of thumb, I’ll try to keep the holy trinity intact of rogue, warrior, mage, but I decided to force who goes along this stuff for multiple reasons. The first is it would have been a nightmare to code. The second is this makes more sense and would make them feel more like people who have their own reasons for doing things. The last is that in games that let you decide (mass effect, for instance), I find that I tend to stick with a couple and then I wonder if I’m missing out on interesting combinations or instances of “if so-and-so was here instead”.

And on the ROs, thanks. I don’t know exactly what the struck out bit means, but in regards to Louis, him, and any other RO might have to ask themselves some tough questions if there was a change between how they first knew you and how they know you now.

Nah

At least, not if I can help it.

The last option before the end of the demo lets you start a new town or claim land? (Or both) @Mfloyd ?

Sorry for the late reply, but in regards to heading to the Broken Plains, yes. You’d head to previously unheld territory and over time create a settlement (in the vein of the three who also went there as a way for long-term living).

Don sweat it but…new question can I outsmart them and become the defacto leader of the territory?

Kinda sorta. As it is, I plan that you can have the job as “leader” either in practice or just in name only, depending on what someone might want.
