@Pumpkaboo Thanks! Very glad to hear you’re enjoying it.

@CaesarCzech I appreciate the thought, but “necro” might be putting it a bit strongly - it’s only been a month since my last update! :slightly_smiling_face:

For the record, this is still an active project, although I admit that it has been slow going. I’m buried away in the heart of the English countryside this week, and we’ve had enough wet weather that I’m finally making some serious inroads into the remaining paths through the battle. Hoping to have the rest of the scene up this weekend - but no promises.

Afternoon, all. I’ve fleshed out Mordred’s paths through the battle if he chooses to fight from the back of the shield-wall, and made some more edits elsewhere in the text. Aiming to have the few remaining scenes from the battle up tomorrow.

It’s a bit embarrassing to be coming back to feedback that was offered last October after so many months - but I’d particularly like to thank @AmericanShakespeare and @Eiwynn for their pointers on improving the battle scene (which I’ve now, belatedly, implemented).

Edit: Oh, and we’re now at 32,756 words.

So I had heard that this was one of the best WIPs on the forum… I am not disappointed if only for the fact that my first choice was to tell Merlin where to go.

Unfortunately I’m not getting much further in because of an error, I’d just agreed a night raid with Lancelot and asked him to take me too then chosen the scholar background and when I tried to apologize for being late I got: chapter 1 line 262: Non-existent variable ‘knows_hostage’

I’m getting similar when I try to view the stats screen: choicescript_stats line 41: Non-existent variable ‘flame_of_battle’

Which, if they’re fairly new would suggest to me the stats text on Dashingdon might need updating, but beyond that I’m not sure.

I’d really like to get further in, but on the basis of what I’ve seen up to now it’s a very interesting concept.

I keep getting an error message saying I know the hostage independent variable. I tried skipping to the feast but it still popped up.

Cheers - my head’s expanding by the minute over here. :joy:

You’re absolutely right - I’m working between a couple of devices, and had uploaded an outdated version of one of the game files. I’ve sorted that out, and the game’s now passing Randomtest - but please give me a shout if you spot any more errors.

Evening, folks. I’ve just made a minor update with the conclusion to the battle - sorry it’s taken so long! Afraid there isn’t much new content for those of you who’ve played before. (Not much I can say really, apart from writer’s block, and that I am honestly trying to get back into the swing of writing again.)

As always, community feedback is very welcome.

We are still here and will be. Writer’s block and burn-out is a part of a writer’s life. Most of us understand what you go through in that regard.

I’m sure you’ll get inspiration soon enough and we’ll get an update you are happy to release.

It’s a really interesting take on the arturian myth, can’t wait to see where it goes

I just have a thing to say though, the ‘warrior’ background is currently the only background who can actualy shine in the demo, making the other background look somewhat bad, i know it’s because it’s a war scene and obviously a warrior will be better in that situation but it’s just the feeling i got

Oh I like the looks of this!

Steady on, the Scholar and Wastrel have opportunities to shine as well. For example, they can capture the Prophetess (or strike a deal with her), which the Warrior currently can’t. That said, I agree that the Warrior background’s probably the most straightforward to play.

Is there anything specific you’d like the Scholar or Wastrel to be able to do that they currently can’t?

I hadn’t noticed for the prophetess stuff

well, nothing i can think of, except maybe when the Pict Champion come out and throw his challenge, the westrel can mock him (maybe to get him to give back the girl ? after all it’s pretty easy to shame a guy around that kind of thing) and the scholar can order to shoot him with an arrow ? it would allow them to show their strenght around the same time as the warrior does
