Help with Tin Star

I usually just blow up the dam as well. Take along Schmidt and he usually kills the bear for me. Then use his knowledge of explosives to blow the dam, earning respect from Yiska.

I usually like to resolve a situation without bullets, or at least not killing anyone if I can help it. But if it comes to it, pumping Rifle and Pistol stats early pays off towards the end.

With the Stage Coach, I usually have 50% into both of them by that time, so sniping them with the rifle then switching to the pistol that kicks like a rifle means they’re gone before they can touch the wagon.

And Caraway/Maria? Didn’t know that was possible. Need to check that myself.

@ErinRosado: The proper time to do so is right after dealing with the flood. You have to have clashed with him before (or clash with him then) yell at him and hit him. And then, if you’ve got enough passion (which means you and he have pissed each other off) and a good enough relationship, you’ll get the chance to kiss him.

Bah. Real Marshals kill bears with their bare hands!

@Ramidel I almost never have a high enough brawl stat for that. That’s where Schmidt comes in, while you distract the bear, he kills it with his bare hands but you still get credited with the kill, adding towards your legend. Plus he can also blow up the dam and seems to know Yiska as well, so that’s why I usually bring him along for that part of the story.

@ErinRosado Sharpshooting can be used to take out the barrel of powder on the hill, as well as pistols and such as well.

I usually ride escort, calm the horses down, ride up to the hill to snipe some people, then send the stagecoach. Snipe the barrel, and then intercept any of the gang that get close. With 50% or so, you should be able to fend them off before Hungry Snake gets on the stage coach. If not, probably best to run the horses before he gets a chance to board.

Went though again and Caraway/Maria was interesting. End result was either Marshal married to Maria with Carrie as a mistress or married to Carrie and seeing Maria on the side. I think I prefer the first one, as if the Marshal were to travel down south, Carrie would follow. (Usually make her my deputy). :3

Mind you I think you need a pretty big persuasion score to even attempt something like this. My marshal could charm a safe open though, so hard could a Countessa and a bandito’s daughter be?

I have the needed brawl skill if I decide from the start that I’m going to rely on my fists instead of my guns.

Also, if you can punch the bear into submission, you can let it go, and it…may become important later in the game.

@Ramidel You’ve made me curious now re: brawling with the bear. I want to try it out.

I have romanced Preston (lol my phone kept autocorrecting to financed) several times! On one playthrough I had three on the go. I was a busy Marshal. I wasn’t keen on Preston’s reaction when I chose him but I like how he doesn’t want to share.

The proper thing to do is to romance everyone at once.

I scared the bear off by growling at it. I’m not sure which one is manlier.

@Ramidel Is that even possible? I can romance three at a time but I haven’t managed them all lol

@Golgot I like that. Haha I shot the bear in the eye today and killed it myself, for the first time. Who needs Schmidt? :stuck_out_tongue:

I like wrestling the bear into submission, then have Carrie shoot it, then bear steaks for everyone.

I’m trying to do an evil playthrough and I keep getting killed by the fake Marshal. :frowning:

Are you killing Caraway? Don’t kill Caraway, she’s excellent backup in this fight and other fights.

If you have Caraway and you know how to use your smoke-wagons, you should come out on top against Steele and hopefully cause pain and panic in the crowd.

Huh, must be a very different playthrough on an evil play, since Carrie and Steel are never in each others presence from what I remember.

Help I can’t get the nameless Marshall achievement can someone give me a walkthrough or a few hints?

Wait, you can romance PRESTON?! Since when?! I never knew that! I thought he married his maid!

He does if you don’t get in there instead. Hint: it involves conflict with him.

I tried but the option never pops up,maybe I’m not pissing him off enough?

I ended up bailing out of the stage coach when you first see the dynamite coming down, then taking what gold I could carry back to town.

That part before, where you’re talking with Hartigan- make certain choices and he tells you “That’s a thin broth you’re giving me to work with, there.” - which has become a part of my regular vocabulary. XD

If I recall correctly,

after the Pretson Springs flood, you can romance him.

Oh~ So you have to flood Preston Springs… I kept preventing it…
