Love is a reward

I disagree, romance with cyborg had already being explore in tv series or movie, and especially in Terminator : Sarah Connir chronicle , where fans are shipping John connor and his cyborg protector Cameron, the intepretation of their vague romance is what made fans rooting for them…

I had joint their forum and one of the most intriguing arguement was that, the love with a cyborg is the most truthful one, simply because when the cyborg processor gives an output of I love you, it will be the definite processed output… no lies, no trick and no manipulation … people insert the definition and the condition for the meaning of Love, and the processor process the circumstances based on the actual definition of love … which mean the cyborg lover could be the one most loyal to you

But would it be ethical to make a game of it? To make cyborgs or AI to love if we are only doing it for our entertainment? If those 1 and 0 keeps running once we reach the end of the story.

If the AI was so advanced would we potentially be murdering a personality each time we reached the end of the story and closed the APP?

Or would the AI be more like an actor who agreed to play pretend with us?

Also is it love if one of the participant do not have the options of turning it off? (Also I think choice of robots touched on this in the heart route.)

I don’t know. I feel that ultimately I don’t want games to be exactly like real life relationships because then I would no longer be able to play them.

It would be too real and then I would have to think about it as something other than entertainment.

you missed the point . The point wasnt that AI cant love…

But if they dont have a free will…its equal to raping them in a sense . Since a human can make the choice…but an AI who cant , its wrong .

I was actually thinking of creating an AI that could process their own output based on the inputs we provide … and an anvanced processor will eventually manage to evolve and interpret these inputs , thus making their judgement out of all those data…

I don’t suppose the game want to create a cyborg that only do certain things repeatly without processing the data, then that will be weird…

In the tv series i mention, the cyborg Cameron was initially design to infiltrate the human society and befriend with the protagonist , since she is an infiltrator , her processor contain all the possible human reaction to variety of circumstance, in one scene the protagonist ask her " I know it is too good for a girl like you to want to befriend a guy like me, are you program to do so all along" ?

Cameron looks at him and didn’t answer for a moment before finally saying " I am different"

The story had written in a way that the cyborg was processing the action and definition of human behaviour , since she couldn’t understand it yet, she hesitate to answer…

It all depends on how a writer develop a love story with an AI, and with a good script … the love relationship is not weird at all, especially AI means Artificial Intelligent… the key term is Intelligent where the processor is intelligent enough to “think”, it is different from mere GIGO " Garbage In Garbage Out" from what we learn from our text book

dunno…

if you create the AI…thats like your kid . I wouldn’t go and say ‘‘Now smooche it!’’ just cose its build in a human adult size .

yup…still weird .

Hmmm… no offence , but sometimes when the discussion dealt too deep into personal interpretation , it might cause friction due to each person’s persistant of an “idea”

I initially want to say, if based on your interpretation , a farmer grows his/her own vegetable , may seems like eating his/her own children as well in a different form …

Hope you don’t mind my counter suggestion

not the same thing though . them vegetable…arent alive per se . they dont have though , they dont have leg to run away . though that be funny! eric chase that broccolee! its escaping! :joy:

Ahhh… i remember there once be a big argument on whether plant and vegetables are alive … there were scientific interpretation on plant and vegetables are life of their own right as well

But let us not debate on that too :-):joy:

Well… each of us are trying to mold our own interpretation into an idea, since we aren’t going to convert each other, let us just agree to disagree

there would be always debate like that…

I wont be surprised if some idiot would come with the theory that oxygen has feeling and we should all stop breathing

Oxygen is just a particle, unlike plant which has the form and reaction as life

People we aren’t even near of simulate the mind process of a spider so admitted by neurologists and scientists we won’t near emulate a reptile in like many decades to current technology development rate. Not without quantum computers.

What clever Game developers can do is VIRTUAL intelligence. a entire set of millions of pre made scripts to a very complex detail level TRY to covering any possible player action and write down an accurate answer that looks like the program thinks. But program doesn’t SELF AWARE doesn’t have mind and capability of thinking is just mathematics. If a is =2 say i love you.

In my college i destroyed two poor computer designer students when they say Try our behavioural program chat with it… The poor thing can’t even handled a evil role player the npcwas there saying how nice is me saying hello…Spoilers mara was stolen him blind

I think AI developing in a direction that we would have to be worried about issues of consent in sexual situations is strictly the realm of science fiction. Sentience in human beings is still so poorly understood, the idea that we’ll one day develop a computer that thinks “like us,” doesn’t seem possible.

first create a something that could d working by itself

Then that learning auto create its own actions like animals and create its own instincts and reactions to external stimulus

Then self awareness of oneself image

Then empathize others as living beings that you can talk and interact WITH.

Then understand and have feelings for those living beings

Lol we humans haven’t finished to figure out our own to think in create something that does by itself

Okay, 3 things:

  1. This is pretty much the same discussion as that around AI sexbots or “intelligent” sexdolls, and I think (or rather hope) that most well adjusted people agree that that is creepy as fuck.

  2. Most of this is heavy speculation.

and 3. This is off topic, people.

I get pretty attached to characters in CoG if they’re particularly well written but I am under no assumption that these characters are real people. That’s the problem with expecting hyper realistic relationships in video games. They’re not real people. And they will never be. There’s only so much you can do in terms of writing and coding to give the reader the illusion that they’re actually interacting with another person.

I genuinely don’t mean to offend but if people are looking for the most realistic human experience…their best bet would to actually go out (either physically or online) and interact with other people. How can we expect a realistic relationship experience without things like rejection?

I agree on the point that a kiss or sex as a the last wining base of romance is silly. It’s just the beginning of hell and trials. But, about the chasing aspect… some girls really need to hunt. The kind of open hunt they can’t have in real life depending of their culture and other bs.

Seriously, I just want the chase to be about plot choices with varying multiplcators. And close-but-not-quite meeting of requirment that trigger second chances options such a a side quest, or a mini quizz game, or just a simple offer, just like Vega’s from Affairs of the Court.

Chasing Vega was interesting because it felt like the MC had to be a coherent political character with neutral good morale, but… if the MC had almost fitting stats, just shy of being the required amount, then it triggered the choice to directly make a move on him.

A bad one, still in my opinion, would be the impossible dragon mate from Choice of the Dragon. Or its opposite : Obligatory Black Mamba from the Hero Choice series.
That narcissist RO was forcing their personal drama and feelings all over the place at the worst possible moments of the plot. It felt so invasive that I lost interest in the whole series.

Old thread; many other threads focused on what makes a good romantic interest/plot.
