Oh I don’t want to give democracy, I want the people to seize that for themselves, by stripping the commoners of all human dignities, by giving nobles complete ownership over them and making myself a cult of personality who represents the public face of the increasingly corrupt nobility that exploits the peasants, making the lower class rebel, while I sabotage efforts to suppress them, letting them win and defeat me along with the rest of the aristocratic system, allowing them to break up the kingdoms and devolve into self-governance with their own proletariat rules.
My aim isn’t to create a fair and just society. My MC literally wants to watch his world burn.
I wouldn’t say it would necessarily result in the greater good, tyrannies are often replaced with systems just as bad, although I definitely got the inspiration for being public enemy no.1 from Code Geass, ultimately my MC is throwing a very selfish tantrum in response to feeling dejected by the world he was born into.
If the commoners form a better system then good for them, I only cared about having them revolt and burn the MC’s corrupt world to the ground, so that Marxus, Sophia, Queen Victoria, King Andus and even Melissa would rue the day fate decided not to favor me.
If anything the aftermath of such a revolution might just create another corrupt system, my MC hasn’t saved anyone, he is intentionally trying to become a villain to realize a specific goal (destroying the aristocracy) and let the world run its own course afterwards.
Once Marxus realizes this and tries to stop my madness, he will become the tragic hero of the story.
A lover? That might complicate plans… I’ll need to eliminate him before he throws a wrench into my plans.

The difference is simple, while your MC manipulate events around him to start a fire, mine just pour gasoline all over it and used his lighter. Who needs subtlety when you can bend the world to your will?
