Sophia and the MC’s match can be compared to Melissa’s match with Marxus, purely political with both participants forced. Its denial of emotional love and dominance of their crown state’s manipulation.
Sophia is actually just like Melissa in that regard, Marxus had to marry Melissa so that her father wouldn’t rebel while the MC had to marry Sophia for some fragile armistice to take hold between Darvis and Lucarex.

I had come to the understanding that Duke Clarent was the most powerful vassal of King Andus, therefore to ensure his influence couldn’t be used against the crown the duke’s daughter was married to the Crown Prince (and to cancel out Queen Victoria’s plan to have her wed to the Second Prince to strengthen his claim to the throne).
If she supports the rebel, then there will be no place for her son to get the throne

Neither the Duke or the Queen are rebels. The Queen doesn’t necessarily want to replace Andus with the MC yet, instead she wants to make sure when Andus dies then the MC will become King instead of Marxus.
