Disney is trying to bring Star Wars into the “post-modern” era of thought. Where there is no more good, or bad or in other words: no absolutes. If they are really going down this path (we’ll get a better idea by the time we watch 8), then I’ll be saddened.
For its failures, Lucas still held to the absolutes within his prequels. He would’ve been much better off if someone else directed it and wrote the script but I’ll give him credit for that.

I like this, I might have to use it…
That was so insane and would have broke canon due to Palpatine’s eventual rise to power. I’ve seen many youtube videos with Dark Lord Jar-Jar. It’s funny but I would never give Lucas or any other holder of the SW series a single penny if he pulled that stunt off.
