Yeah, but anything after Rome is interesting,

I like Egypt for the vast engineering capabilies that they had used to turn a desert region into something habitable.

Being the first “great” empire, there are a lot of examples of the development of the ruling class, early forms of taxation, strong bronze age military. (Iron, while available was in short supply as well as trees needed to heat the forges.)

Greece, I appreciate for the philosophy, architecture and system of education. A lot of Alexander’s systems actually helped out the Roman empire a great deal. While Rome conquered Greece, the culture of Greece conquered Rome.

EDIT: I could bring up Babylon, Persia and the Hittites, if you wish.

I can definitely understand why they were important, and I appreciate the impact all of them have had, I just personally dont find anything before Rome interesting.

See I got into the Greeks and Romans because of how they did Infantry. The Roman Legionnaire was highly influential in my career path

Fair enough. I just find all of history interesting.

If you want to talk about babylon ask @Fiogan his game is based off babylon i am pretty sure

Nothing gets me more excited than a well disciplined group of heavy infantry that can just out slog anyone else just by being higher quality of Warriors.

Also my favourite historic era would have to be medieval Europe

Dont get me wrong, I love history in its entirety, and if someone told me to study Babylon or Greece I would Happily do so. I just meant that compared to Roman history I dont find them interesting (should have been more clear about that, my bad.).

I would agree with you except for the collapse of the western Roman empire. Granted, the empire’s corruption among other issues at home greatly undermined the effectiveness of the Roman military. So I won’t place the blame solely on the military. However the sheer numbers of the “barbarians” in the frontiers overwhelmed the Roman legions.

(My statement was a summary and by no means encapsulates the displacement of Asian tribes, i.e. the Huns and various other people groups causing Germanic tribes to push into Roman turf.)

Well yeah, part of war is logistics and numbers are ALWAYS important. I just look up to those guys is basically the short of it

Well, in their prime, they were top notch. You can see how their formations and tactics were used by European armies for centuries after Rome’s fall (heavy cavalry tactics, battle lines, the rediscovery of the Roman catapult in the crusades leading to the trebuchet.)

It astounds me how much was “lost” after Rome’s fall.

@Sophia, Sophiaaaa… I’m not feeling inspired right now. Can I read something new from yours?

Or you could read 1984. If youve already read it, read it again. Its the greatest book ever created (at least to me). Also gives me a lot of inspiration for writing, especially towards the end.

whispers Silence! I am fishing for new content and spoilers! It feels like it has been so long…

I just watch the first three episodes of star wars so I can come up with ideas on stuff of which I shouldn’t do. Example don’t add a comic relief character that is annoying.

Ugggh I missed all the activity by sleeping again…

Dammit, there goes my idea of having a Jar-Jar character.

I’m deleting all my posts on your thread if you do, and don’t even think of adding a jedi rock to an edit of your original book.
