Sarcasm is the poor mans wit they said. If thats true then I must be the protagonist from Down and Out in Paris and London.
Either, because I have many more shakespeare quotes to combat the zombie movie quotes.
I also like to write History and stuff… Basically anything about th fictional world I created.
I can’t speak for @Sophia but writing characters is hard sometimes. Writing it out definitely helps but you still have to capture words, feelings and mannerisms that are completely foreign from who you are.
Sometimes you can fake it or get help/inspiration from people you know. Even that has limits.
Oh absolutely. Sometimes I use friends from the real world as like the building block. Then I imagine if a few major moments in their lives had been different, then how would their personalities have changed do to it? That’s the most interesting method I have so far
I use the people around me as inspiration.
And stuff I’ve watched in the TV.
Im by no means a great writer, but one bit of advice I have is try to think of the character youre writing as a person by himself. What would they do in a certain situation based off of how you characterize them? That usually helps me.
I’ve done that from time to time, but almost always end up Mary Sue’ing them into Garrus
I usually read the History of the Roman Emperors like Caligula, Nero and Acommodus.
Then try to think this, they good at this skill and what would most likely be their weakness?
For example, they good at sword fighting, that mean go to enemy head on, but likely to not used to not go to enemy’s literally
Sheesh, I must be the “method actor” version of the writer. I try to get “inside the head” of my characters and work out feelings and such. Pure observation on TV or my real life inspirations just never seems to be enough for me.
Shh, I’m calibrating my characters.
Yeah, I can relate to that. At that point I usually ask my roomate how to fix something (the perks of having a roomate whos an English Major).
I love Roman history. I was that one kid who read the history textbook in school because I thought it was interesting. (Mostly only Rome and after though, anything before bores me).
Yeah, thats what I meant.
hey I already erase my replies

How do you feel about the other great empires of antiquity? I.e. Greece, Egypt, Babylon, etc.
I used hate history, since all our teachers before are so boring. Until last year… We tackled the Roman history!
Then I watched GoT and played CK2.
The history of my story was just created last year.
coughs Holy Roman Empire
I love Babylon for Hammurabis Code (it wasnt fair to most people and I dont like that part of it, but the idea that what you do to someone can legally be done to you appeals to me immensely). I dont have too mich of an opinion on Greece and Egypt bores me to death.
Antiquity. HRE is more High Middle Age/Renaissance and beyond.
