Rather well, thank you for asking~

@Vattena and @AmericanShakespeare, you already know that I am fully committed to our heretical purposes. We, the illuminati, will rule this thread from the shadows

Long live our fair lady Melissa!

This is where I would need access to some business-side data.

I remember when Redemption Season first came out, the reviews hammered the characters and the “preachiness” of the story. A lot of those reviews are gone on Google Play and Steam, however I don’t know how that affected sales.

Then there was the HG that was set in Russian folklore that had the non-binary sibling that many people debated over. Not sure how much affect debates and reviews had on the bottom line.

Long story short: Bad press is bad but how detrimental is it?

bows in the most charming way possible

Well then @Nightgazer it seems you no longer need my services throws smoke grenade and vanishes into the night whispers you all know where to find me

Sir?!
Did I hear the word “spy”?
Might a purge be necessary amogst our brothers?

whispers in ear i can make him disappear, for the right price

I quite liked that even though it was kinda linear but I bought it just to see what role my Hero Star-Lord played in the game

I’m pretty sure it depends if it’s a standalone and/or from a famous author because even though there’s not enough substance still people would go to see a Christopher Nolan movie cause he’s…Nolan…whereas if AmericanShakespeare made a movie noone would go to see that one unless it wasn’t a pure hit

It is a sad day when even the Church of Clithus needs an inquisition.

no-no Sir Mappolo he’s a spy but from our ally not from the enemies I’ll deal with him later but wishpers you keep an eye on him

many not willing to buy new release game because they want to know the review first, it is worth it? That what they thought so yeah, I think it’s quite detrimental. (To me at least)

Not very, I would think. I mean, when the whole premise of your creation is the story, then those reviews are just how those people perceive it. That’s just my opinion though, I’m no business magnate.

@moonwalkerdragon
I see you’ve changed your profile picture, now it doesn’t even resemble a dragon anymore, much less a moonwalking one. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Indeed my friend, the times, they are changing.

No he’s not! Are you @MAppolo??

cause if you are then don’t worry cause I’m playing a bigger game here to make Clithus the goddess it is supposed to be rather be overshadowed by Melissa

@MAppolo i could take care of the this situation for a few mesly gold pieces lets moonlight shine of dagger :smiling_imp::smiling_imp::smiling_imp::smiling_imp::smiling_imp::smiling_imp::smiling_imp::smiling_imp:

Well, what you are touching on is “brand recognition.” You bought Sergei’s book because, let’s face it, he is a “brand” among CoG readers. Same with Lucid, Goshman, Cataphrak etc.

They have goodwill stored up with their followers that would permit a dud or two so long as they recover. Novelists like King aren’t always churning hits bit they have enough to maintain goodwill.

Coke can change the “classic” flavor, absorb the negative blowback but find their brand recovers after they fix the mistake. (I am going to miss you, Coke Zero…)

Anyways, you and I don’t have that luxury of writing a bomb or not. To be successful, we have to have a couole of great works from the start.
