For the moment I have a more numb mindset for my MC - their character is disappointed at being unable to marry Melissa and has dispassionately resigned themselves to a political marriage. Princess Sophia may hate her situation and Melissa might be heartbroken but I picture my MC as bordering on apathy, knowing he can’t be with the one he loves and bracing himself for whatever trouble Sophia might give him, although he does try to be nice to her for both of their convenience, all the while becoming isolated from them both as he retreats into his own mind for solace.
BTW I don’t resent King Andus at all, I can totally appreciate his perspective, it is a Prince’s duty to be a pawn for their monarch, pragmatism over romanticism, giving up individuality for the good of the state.
I still like Princess Sophia, she sees circumstances for what they truly are rather than what others want her to see, I can respect that, she would make an ideal Queen. I’m terrified of the wedding dance though, all I want is to keep my head down and read a book, but it would be nice to get to know Sophia and come to some mutual understanding about our situation.
I can like her I think, there is the potential for admiration, I have no desire to hurt her either but my love for Melissa remains, and now I have doubts it could ever subside or that the MC could ever truly love two women.
