Alright, back home and brainstorming Sophia’s requests. Has the castle/palace ever received a proper name?

None that I know of.

(sigh This description of a castle courtyard is not going to fit with the castle up in post #1 Just going to go off one similar to the recent pictures posted. Still, we’ll see what @Sophia thinks.)

The castle of Torquilstone (name is merely a placeholder, don’t use it. I think Warcraft has dibs on this name) was never meant to be a fortress. It is said that when King Darius began construction of this building, he wanted the building to reflect the newfound peace within the realm, free of the threat of the demons. As such, the walls surrounding the castle were thin compared to older fortresses found in Darvis from the days we were at war. Instead, the walls gleamed with an outer layer of white plaster covering solid granite. The walls reflected the light of the sun, to serve as a beacon to the people of Darvis. Inscribed at the bottom of the walls were colorful runes providing extra strength to the structure while serving as a barrier to siege weapons and damaging spells.

The gates of the castle were made from polished oak wood with a large beam resting near the gatehouse in the advent that the castle needed to be shut off. The beauty of the castle did not stop at the walls, Darius wished to continue his theme of peace within the grounds itself, however he did not wish to sacrifice the functions of the castle either. So a compromise was struck. To the left of the main path leading into the palace proper, resided the castle stables housing the royal horses as well as horses for guests and the troops stationed within.

Near the stable was the castle armory and barracks where the guardsmen stayed. It was a two-story building that was as tall as the wall with easy access to the ramparts at the top of the barrack’s roof. To the side of the barracks was the forge of the royal smith and armorer who were in charge of the production and maintenance of the equipment within the castle.

Finally, near the forge were the castle kitchens. Due to the dangers of fire , some of the cooking was done outside and animals for meals were kept in pens. It was an odd combination of smells, the manure of the animals mingled with the smells of fresh vegetables, cooking meats and baked breads.

However, none of this compared to the grounds to the right of the path. Lust, green grasses spread out over many acres. The grass was as soft as some of the rugs within the palace, near the castle walls several targets were set up for hunters and guardsmen to practice their archery. Even young pages and squires were taught how to use their bows here. Closer to the palace on the lawn was a very large, circular fountain… The fountain was made from marble brought in from the quarries within the kingdom. In the center was a basin and a fixture that was sculpted to resemble the first king and queen dancing together. It was supposedly built to commemorate the first ball held at the castle.

(Ugh, I could continue with a hedge maze but my kid is making life difficult atm. Hope it helps.)

Not exact representations but have some similar personality attributes

We should rename it “The Banter topic. Subtopic - Kingdoms a man’s journey”

For what ?

Why ? so that it takes me 1 hour instead of 30 minutes everyday reading that.

PS: it’s more fun reading science than the war posts

I sold my sole to become taller (I know I’m about 6 feet) and I became an 8th of an inch taller

And here I was thinking about ghost rider

Well, if we do a good job, we’ll do for science what Cataphrak has done for warfare, politics and economics in his thread.

And don’t get banned because science isn’t a triggering topic. Cool. And it doesn’t hurt that it’s interesting.
