i know… thats why i asked, unless it was some fool duke, i dont see how can someone rebel against the King if he have no military force to opose him.

then that can be one of the reason this duke rebel too, is humiliating for someone with the most powerful army to be just a duke and not the hand of the King… even though i will prefer if his reason is marxus, it will make it more easy for our mc.
