Keeper of the Sun and Moon (WIP)

Yep. Seems to me that Cressida has adapted by adopting the persona that would allow her to manage the pressures she’s been put under… which does make her potentially more interesting than just insincere rich girl  (and would be why I’m not putting her in my most disliked list )

Hmm, right… the consequences if she hadn’t brought us could’ve been pretty disastrous :grimacing:

Then could you kindly just let us have our fun when one of us says let’s talk about the guys, rather than dismissing it by saying we’re already the most vocal minority?

This makes sense  I could see it leading to perpetuation of whatever the previous leaders valued, which could explain them remaining very traditional and just not moving with the times as much

This makes sense to me  it doesn’t place as many restrictions on the player, but the history is there. So, I’d gather that the nymph group was fairly matriarchal… did other groups tend to be more patriarchal, matriarchal, or vary a lot? (Kind of stuff that’d be interesting in magic history classes…)

As regards other backgrounds, I see a lot of those would entail having had more experience in the magic world? Are they backgrounds that you would unlock after gaining experience, or would it involve the MC having a past they don’t know about, or how would you implement that?

Hybrids are always cool :pensive:

That’s what I thought but if it’s relating to species then +1 to Hybrid it’ll be interesting to see where they stand in the current magi society/politics.

Same, he already hates my MC for being quite chaotic :joy:

Well, I’d assume you wouldn’t have full power during the game…

How do we know the regular kitsune isn’t already that? Besides, it’s the same problem as the Delacroix dragonborn: is it really that much better than the regular kitsune/dragonborn, and how would anyone find out, anyway?

@daydreamsincolor: just to reiterate, while I’m not really interested in a secret species that’s simply a slightly better version of one of the other species, I’m very much against the idea of the secret species retconning the MC’s character (as the “secretly a [whatever] spy” species would do). This means that our character prior to choosing our species was basically all a lie, which would leave me feeling cheated (and I know I could just choose a different species, but still)…

That last bit is basically what I was wondering about  only I was wondering if it would mean the main character themself doesn’t know about this stuff. Because in that case I think it might not be so problematic… it wouldn’t lead to a narration that contradicts itself. If the MC is just as clueless as the reader, that’s what I’m saying. You could have magically induced amnesia or something  and some of the backgrounds could be a “parent secret” thing, like if you were Delacroix but raised separately, or a wraith whose parents used you as a front or something. Ah, and as far as the nymph possibility goes, I personally think that’d work best as something to be achieved in play… I think that would be a really nifty achievement…

Least Favorites:
Astair - mainly cause i haven’t talked to him much at all. Maybe i will change my mind once i start paying attention to him (the only reason i know his name is cause of the previous comments ).
Astrid - She just kinda irritates me with her attitude and the whole kidnapping business.
Cressida’s bro - I will probably like him once i get him to stop being a jerk and again start paying actual attention to him (and you know, remember his name).

I mean no offense to daydreamsincolor that i can’t remember the brother’s name.

Three of those, whilst they sound fun, would require the MC to be an unreliable narrator or amenisiac (as stated by @TSSL ), which would alienate a lot of players. That said, I was looking forward to the nephilim/cambion hybrid. Since that option (along with the Delacroix dragonborn ) wouldn’t require any changes pre-species selection, it might be a better fit. Alternatively, the secret species selection could come up earlier than the regular one, and allow the player to select a secret species (if unlocked) or carry on as normal.

While i agree making the narrator an unreliable narrator or amnesiac might not be the best idea (although done well that can quickly change), i would like the secret stuff as a way to justify some of the protagonist’s more passive reactions and options to certain events.

I give a 10/10 to the angel/demon hybrid.
Seriously, it just sounds so badass.

Stuff like the experienced hunter (and nymph, as someone stated earlier) are better left as something you earn throughout the game rather than something that’s given to you. Hell, the fact that you have to work your way to earn it rather than simply getting it at the beginning of the game makes it more rewarding when you finally get it.

Personally, I’d scrap the Delacroix dragonborn and kitsune spy. Like others said,
it just seems like an upgrade to something that we already have. And I don’t know about you, but romancing Seraphina as the Delacroix dragonborn would be…awkward, to say the least.

Well you know, making the protagonist a Delacroix dragonborn might help expand the relationship with Seraphina to a newer and possibly more interesting way.

Maybe, but that still doesn’t change the fact that the person Seraphina develops genuinely romantic feelings for turns out to be her (only)
relative is pretty damn awkward.

BAHAHAHA, i didn’t actually think of that. I think i got my memory on the game slightly off.

Since you can’t romance Seraphina before the species selection, I’m assuming the romance would be disabled in that case. :expressionless:

Watches the joke of Seraphina romancing her only relative fly over justme’s head.

Uhh… Mind explaining?

But that would make the mc feel artificially gimped and under-powered and brings back all of my bad memories of Children of the Gods and Harry Potter both, while one thing this game is doing right at the moment is making me feel my mc is neither over, nor under-powered (especially since despite his performance in the wilds he still loses to little kitty cat in the sims, now that I get his intelligence up enough to be a good student), even if we lack some knowledge of useful utility spells and general knowledge about the magical world. I loved the fact that in chapter 5 my mc wasn’t a dead-weight burden to the team (and that he wasn’t the single-handed slayer of everything either). Anything that screws with that balance would make the game worse, imho.

I do agree with you that the secret species shouldn’t just be slightly better versions of the ones that are already there with the exception of the cambion/nephilim hybrid maybe, but then they’d have their own unique twist, and angst. I’m sorry but like mentioned above I think that power-wise someone as supposedly powerful as a full angel/demon hybrid would feel off for me and would screw up the game balance too much. I also wouldn’t like to meet that mc’s “parents”.

Well they’d probably be second-cousins, so it might just verge on acceptable

We’re blue blooded it’s fine

I fail to see the problem…

Gotta keep that lineage pure, amirite?

Not really, the mc would lack both the blue-blooded education/socialization and the money and I don’t think a hypothetical Delacroix would get any of the inheritance though, since even Sera might not have full-access to it.
You’d be just as, or even more penniless then most of the other mc’s.

All that really matter is the lineage, and faking the attitude. Though with mind reading around…

Dating your own cousin would be awkward!
