True, but kitsune can use fire too, and you can’t beat mind manipulation powers.

You don’t have to worry about being caught using illusion magic, it (probably) requires less energy, and can be used as an excellent excuse if you’re caught using control magic (“No, I would never use control magic! 
I’m simply very skilled at creating illusions”). Although, I do suppose being really good at control magic it makes all other powers moot. Like I said, you can’t beat mind manipulation powers.
Of course, but there’s always a risk that you’re opponent is smarter, stronger, or otherwise more powerful than you.

I think it’s mentioned that illusions are close to control magic, but not as powerful. But yeah, control magic is awesome! Can’t wait to have a chance to conciously use it.
Someone with mind manipulation powers could just control said dragon, or control a more powerful dragon to fight it.
Then just give your Dragonborn MC high Willpower and high Fighting/Shifting.
Simple as that.

There’s always the risk of the control magic user having even higher willpower, as well as other abilities.
But yeah, dragonborn are pretty awesome (they’re my second favorite species).

As well as elementals, cambions and nephilims.
Every magi is badass in their own way. Let’s just leave it at that.

Just pick fire for your element.

I managed to become a kitsune with a cunning of just 1, so no.

Yep, it has alternated between fire powers and high manipulation/cunning, but currently it’s fire.

I was dating Astrid as a nephilim and I thought there would be a scene when you tell her and see how she reacts.
