Congratulations, Mara, that’s awesome!
And also to everyone above, especially @rinari; I can only imagine being able to finish a book manuscript!
My progress has been a lot slower this month than I’d like; I’m in the process of both forgiving myself for that and trying to put in the work in the last few days here to at least make it halfway, so we’ll see what I manage to squeak in before August!

“Don’t worry about my browser history, I’m a writer.” @AChubbyBlackCat
So true. I look suspicious of some terrible crimes, depending on which scene I was researching.

I took a break from writing for a couple of days in order to re-center and re-orientate myself, I was too deep in the game and not actually doing anything except replaying the intro and constantly making minute changes to sentences. I did a little bit of actual writing today and felt pretty good, rather than being filled with doubt.
Current wordcount of the beast: 363 700. As a modest target I would like to break 400 000 at least by the end of the year

Today I discovered a whole nest of bugs in my stats-screen code … I’ve fixed one of the major bugs but I have more to tackle tonight/tomorrow/the rest of this week.
Just when I was feeling confident… typical. lol.

Really annoyed that adding
*if (variable = true)
*return
to a *fake_choice kills it, meaning I have to change it to a *choice and add a bunch of *gotos and a *label.
Anyway been knocking out a respectable pace of 500-1000 words a day over the weekend and Mon-Tues just to keep momentum going. Been walking and exercising more, too. Still doesn’t quell the anxieties or help me sleep, but you gotta do this stuff for yourself regardless.

Bugtest and spellcheck phase, I can feel the end of this chapter-cycle coming to a close.

It was a terrible day for me, I only did 500 words. I was just paralyzed by my own fears and the fact the next scene is basically fellatio and It will be difficult for me to write it right. Maybe I will have to skip it but that choice is vital for one of the branches.

That is a good pun lol, you blow me out of the park

@Alice-chan Excellent progress and good modest goals, slow and steady winds the race.
@Eiwynn Good luck with the bugs. I find that wrestling with them is the best way to improve your programming skills.
I’m working on a very pivotal vignette. I wrote four pages of notes, beat outlines, variables and listed the end-states which will resonate for the rest of the game.

Thanks, but for the contest I am in a deadline. I like contests as a way to practice with complete games between 1,500 words to 99,000. This one is now around 15k and y hope no more than 30 k I know that for cog standards that are nothing but in a way that is a short novel in a month and several days.
When the contest ends, returns the scary part of continuing my real game until it is ready

Novachrome’s log:
Wrote ideas and reviewed inconsistencies in plot.
It’s seems I need to write the right way.
Also did a lot of conditional statement experiments.

Today I hit 40k+ words with my WIP, which is super exciting! I honestly don’t know where I would be without spellchecking friends and betas. Having a pair of fresh eyes is literally invaluable.
Also I got a pour over coffee set, which is pretty much my gasoline.

Squashed a lot of bugs today
; I’ve stopped keeping track of how many words ive added/subtracted since this phase means things go up and down very little compared to the amount of work that goes in to testing.
I’ll say its 366000 now and I’ll compare that to what it is when I push the update, hopefully soon

Today I have written almost 1 k. That includes the infamous fellatio scene. I asked @Eiwynn if I can jolt it down here and she agreed. So feedback on it is welcomed. Don’t worry is teen rating still I will hide it.
Scene
The digital creature says nothing more and goes to work on you with the productive disdain of an electronic device. The television continues to go on and on with its incessant chatter, swallowing up the background silence, while you try to close your eyes and let yourself be upheld by your animal instincts.
The tension rises, your mind floats trying to take you to other times with real lovers and beautiful words. Nothing remains of those moments except the desire of your body job and revenge.
The hologram continues its work with the surgical precision of a laser scalpel, using static electricity and suction to emulate the caring embrace of real lips.
The announcement of the new Honey pot sex robot model makes you laugh “Why empathize and surrender to the requirements of a living being when My honey pot is always open for you. Dream Alone/ it is always better than reality.”
Your body moves and twists at is own will, swaggering a dance older than the planetary system you are in. While your mind tries to lose itself forever in oblivion.
The suction gets faster and faster as the hologram begins to fake gasps that remind you of the snarls of an asthmatic pig
“Shut up, at once! No more paraphernalia is necessary for this transaction.” You scream in amazement at your own vehemence.
The first waves of pleasure, for an instant, leave you like a fool looking at the red wall until your entire body contorts like the spring of a crossbow about to fire
“Ahh” you confused scream between pleasure and pain. As a lurking holographic device shoots at your neck a burning ray. A barcode marking you as cattle in your moment of weakness
But the bubble keeps growing, following the momentum. Until it bursts between moisture and moans, returning you marked to the damp solitude of a painful barcode, empty hotel room and cold words.

Like I said before, seems fine to me and tastefully written for your story.

End is right Mara; you don’t give yourself much slack at times.
You already received my feedback, so no need to repeat it over
