Alice’s daily progress report for yesterday: Since I pushed the demo I didn’t get all that much done. A quick bugfix and a mere 500 additional words. Still pleased to have done a little bit, no matter how small.
This is not a writing developer month review. It is from The Beyond Skyrim Atlmora project. However, the poetry and working did by fans of Elder Scrolls that want To recreate no only Tamriel They want to Recreate Mundus. Without any hope of publication. Just based on a pure and passionate love for a franchise. The trailers are Triple-A their soundtracks are triple-A and have probably several of best writers even taking account they are amateur.
For me Beyond Skyrim are a big inspiration and their videos are incredible. Far better than Bethesda.
Did you ever explore Tamriel Rebuilt for Morrowind Mara?
The standard for being “better” then Bethesda is quite low.
I played several Morrowind makeovers with years. Still, Skywind is a new game not the Morrowind original. Beyond Skyrim, Morrowind is more interesting to me . See for first time the province after the eruption.
Anyway, Cyrodil and the Illac bay are my personal favourites.
One of my colleagues used to write for Beyond Skyrim! Modding is an awesome and much underrated skill.
I’ve got the week off for this coming week and I’m hoping to crack on with my CoG project. I’ve been chipping away very slowly at it but now that I’ll have a good chunk of time to myself, my goal is to get most of Chapter 2 drafted during the week. Let’s see how it goes! Ideas have been percolating around in my head in the meantime about increasing tension and risk for the main character so hopefully I’ll be ready to get going on Monday.
Daily update to keep me motivated: 2000 words written today. It was slow progress - i’m working on new content but its hard work; I keep ploughing on though.
Project of the first half of July has been a “mini” chapter 1.5…which quickly ballooned up to almost 9k+ words and counting. Still, I’m quite happy with it and I think it adds to my story, so no complaints here!
The 100 degree heat, on the other hand…
Given the rumours about Bethesda planning to refresh Skyrim again for next gen it would be awesome if they approached the teams and elected to upscale all of Tameriel for the full game. Would make the wait for ES6 easier…
This really is not the place to discuss video games.
You are right sorry
So… I’ve been procrastinating my online classes by writing songs. I have no experience writing them (or have any musical talent at all), but they’re surprisingly fun!
I wasn’t too fond of the last scene in my prologue, but I got a burst of inspiration and realized that an upbeat song in the prologue (rather than waiting until Chapter 1 for the first song) would establish the tone and mood of the story better. It’s a nice way to do some exposition too. Now I’ve more or less completed two out of four character introduction songs, plus bits and pieces for future songs in later chapters. My story has gone full musical and I love it.
If you haven’t done so before, try writing a song (or poem) sometime!
Maybe you’ll discover something new
And find it fun too
Glad to see I’m not the only one here.
I’ve been working hard today! I’ve done a bit of edits on Chapter 1, finished off a scene in Chapter 2 that was hanging over me, plus another new Chapter 2 scene. I foolishly didn’t check what my word count was this morning but I think I’ve done about 2500 words. Feeling good about it!
That’s super cool Hannah
Alice daily moticational update: I am at 341 000 words, finally broke another 10k barrier, well on my way to 350k. That means ive written 2000 words today just about. Yay.
I wrote just under 5,000 words on the weekend, but I also deleted 2,000 words.
The project seems to be oscillating between 396,000 and 399,000 words. I’m writing a lot of new material but I’m also swinging an axe a lot.
I know that feeling. Happens after some more efficient coding too. Oh well, word count is still an easy and fun measure.
@AChubbyBlackCat I absolutely love the sand castle post. I find myself shovelling sand to get through a rough patch when two plots need to be joined. I often write something just to get it in and then come back and polish it into something I’m happy with.
I’m making great progress. I don’t have a new word count because I prefer to use an online counter and I’m writing with limited Internet, but it’s going really well.
I rewrote the frame of a scene from several chapters again and now I’m happy with how it looks. It was the third rewrite. I also fixed a few other sand-filled scenes and polished them into castles.
But I’ve also made some headway with new content which is really great. I’d love to have the sandbox filled with castles and sand by the end of July and then spend all of August polishing before a September beta test, but we’ll see.
