Im thinking of making a game but want to gauge intrest before actually committing too far so here I go.

The Realm of Enwor -

You stand on trial for a crime you didn’t even commit, anxiously waiting for an outcome that seemed as though it would certainly not end in your favor. Yet just as the verdict that you awaited came, you were suddenly standing on a dirt path in the middle of nowhere with what appeared to be a cart led by horses barreling towards you at breakneck speeds. You have been transported to The Realm of Enwor, a realm where fantasy is no longer fantasy and magic is as commonplace as a cellphone is on Earth. You don’t know why; you don’t know how, but all you do know is that for now you see no way out, so better make the most of it. Right?

The Realm of Enwor is an dark fantasy isekai novel where you are thrust into a nation divided by three kingdoms that seem on the brink of civil war. You are thrust into a revolution led by Rakkshas Bashir, the half-demon that hopes to unite these three kingdoms and avoid what seems to be an inevitable collapse.

At least that’s what seems to be the case, yet you are plagued with night terrors whenever you go to sleep, where a mysterious voice speaks to you. Telling you the same thing every night:

“Do not trust Bashir.”

Alongside this voice, you get these dreams of a town burning in black flames with maniacal laughter coming from a mysterious figure.

Regardless of what this voice may imply every choice you make is your own to make:

Play as either Male, Female, or nonbinary.

Figure out what type of magic between Fire, Water, Wind, Earth, Light, and Dark then train your magic to either project outward or use it to enhance your own body

Romance or befriend a wide cast of characters, including a half-demon who leads the revolution, an elven girl who seems to be hiding something, a demigod child with a savior complex, a self-entitled scheming noble, a sarcastic druid cut off from his god, a silver-haired girl trying to reunite her family, a half-angel trying to stop the revolution, and a fairy princess sent on a mission by her family. Help lead the revolution to success or attempt to sabotage it

Fight a wide variety of enemies and threats that you can either slay or spare

Attempt to figure out why you were transported here

Maybe even find out who framed you

Welcome to The Realm of Enwor.

(Slight Spoilers Ahead)

The Nation of Eldes -

Eldes would be the primary location in this first game of the series. It is the largest nation alongside The Eastern Wall in Enwor. Eldes is comprised of three different islands, each with a separate kingdom ruling them: Bruwind, Naverenth, and Virin. These kingdoms agreed to work together 2000 years ago, forming the supernation known as Eldes.

Bruwind: Bruwind was initially a very proud and traditional kingdom that believed in raw might over magic. However, these formerly proud values have been warped, and now the kingdom believes in human supremacy over all. Very recently they have begun putting up checkpoints to forbid all nonhumans, or as they call them, “Manabloods,” from entering Bruwind.

Naverenth: Naverenth was initially an incredibly militaristic kingdom that took pride in fighting and military conquest. It was always an aggressive and strong kingdom, but this proud fighting spirit was ingrained in its people. Now these militaristic beliefs have morphed even further to the point where children are taken away from families at birth to be raised into the military. Naverenth has no qualms using whatever means necessary to continue growing the strongest military.

Virin: Virin was always the polar opposite of its two fellow kingdoms. Rather than focusing on military might or strong traditional values, they were very progressive. Currently they stand as the most technologically advanced nation on the Eastern Side of the wall. However, rumors have recently begun circulating on unethical measures that have taken place to ensure they keep rapidly advancing.

Recently the differences between these three kingdoms have begun dividing them further and further. Now it seems inevitable that these three kingdoms will be embroiled in Civil War separating this long-held union.

This is just a brief overview of Eldes; there is more, but yeah.

Romance Options: There are eight total romance options in The Realm of Enwor for the first book. They all have thier own set gender and sexuality but I am open to change thier sexuality I don’t want to get super im depth on them out of risk of this post being too long but they have vauge descriptions in the intro to the game.

Magic System: There are two types of mana primarly Inner and Outer.

Inner Mana is the mana that all living creatures are born with. Inner Mana is flexible and can change depending on the person a person can also increase the amount Of Inner mana they have; some people are born incapable of properly Harnessing their mana, but it’s still there however In very rare cases, some people are born with no Mana meaning they can use no form of magic there are five factors that contribute to Inner Mana

Personal Experience Bloodline Natural Aptitude Training Race

These factors will all affect your inner Mana and decide how that manifests, whether it be slinging fireballs or something much more rare, like manipulation of blood. When it comes to your inner mana, there are also a large variety of types that inner mana will be depending on the above factors.

Enwor ManaThis is the Mana of the Earthen plane of Enwor; it is typically regarded as the weakest form of Mana as most Earthen Plane inhabitants cannot properly use Mana due to Enwor’s large variety of races over quality of races as such most will manifest Earthen Mana as things like Curses, Wards, or Enchantments and the weakest Form of elemental magics.

Underworld Mana This is the mana of the Underworld and is characterized by being extremely destructive. Demons are born with a natural aptitude for this type of Mana and any creature born in the underworld is likely to have some noticeable form of Underworld Mana

Overworld ManaThis Mana is the mana of the overworld and is known to be less destructive and focused more on healing or creation this Mana comes naturally to angels.

Unique Mana This is a type of Mana that is not able to be put into the category of being from a certain plane, and the powers they bring don’t vary by the type of Mana used these Powers include things such as clairvoyance, Necromancy, blood manipulation, and Pure Mana usage.

Godly Mana This is the Mana That all gods are born with And is considered to be by far the most powerful form of Mana being able to use all the previous attributes (depending on the type of god) of the other mana types this however is not to be confused with Commandments as one can still learn Godly mana while they can’t learn Commandments

Royal Mana This is unique in terms Of mana as it cannot be learned by anybody, and only those born of an original Royal family can use it, it focuses on commanding and leading people as opposed to varied capabilities like other Manas

It is important to note that all types of mana can do the same things (With the exception of Royal mana and Unique Mana) just in different ways a really simple example is Fire Magic: Earthen Fire Magic and create our orange Earthen Flames but they can change the temp. Underworld Fire Magic or Hell Flames burn much hotter than Earthen Fire Magic but they can’t make the flames burn less. Overworld Fire Magic or White Flames heal as opposed to burning, and Godly mana can do all. The things the other Mana types canThere will be chances for the

MC to learn all of these with the exception of Royal and Unique mana as the series progresses.

The second form of Mana being Outer Mana is as the name would imply, the mana that comes from the outside worlds around you. Harnessing this mana is much harder than Harnessing Inner Mana but it also provides the benefit of being able to output attacks anywhere in your surroundings. Outer Mana does not change in type while it is on the outside and will always be considered the same until harnessed by a mage, where they change it and imbue it with their inner mana to change it. The only thing that does vary about Outer Mana naturally is how much of it there is in a certain place the ways the Outer Mana can be used are dependent on the user’s Inner Mana; for example, one who uses Earthen Water Magic can channel Outer Mana into just that.

Commandments and Weapons: These two both have thier own unique power system but I won’t go into depth on that here.

But yeah thats my yap there’s much more that could be covered but I dont want to drag this post on too much. Let me know if this peaks anybodys interest.

It looks interesting! I love a good isekai.

As for the ROs having a set gender and sexuality, that isn’t a bad thing. But before you get too deep into the writing, I would ask yourself if you’re wanting a wide range of players. If you do, just check and make sure the gender and sexuality divide is about even. For example, if gay men have 3 choices and straight men have 4, then that divide isn’t a big deal. But if gay women have 5 and straight women have 2, then that’s not super even. And you might want to think about what changes would make sense. But you don’t have to make any changes, if you don’t want to.

I’ll also say that with 8 ROs, that’s enough that each player should have access to at least 2. Just to ensure a good choice.

Update on this idea, since I kinda dropped it and repurposed it into something else. It truly was an insane idea, and have no idea what I was thinking.

Tales of Heroics and Redemption

Fate has always been a fickle thing, unquantifiable and unknown, but enough of that. This is your story about the choices you have made in the past and the ones you will make in the future. The question is, will you redeem yourself in the eyes of the public, or fall back into bad habits at the cost of your career?

Follow your meteoric rise through the ranking for superheroes and costumed vigilantes, because of your insane strength and speed, alongside your very unique hero persona. This granted you a unique opportunity to be invited to the premier team, The Vanguards of Peace.

Only one issue, you managed to blow up any real shot that you had at joining the team, with the incident, and it almost cost you everything. Luckily, your reputation, work ethic, and sponsor company were able to allow you to keep your status as a hero, even if you are stuck on probation and have to attend biweekly rehab group meetings.

Now you have nowhere to go but up or step back into old habits, for now, all you have to do is perform your duties as a hero with your new partner and handler, attend your court-mandated group sessions, and maybe see what is going on with the newly forming group of villains positioning themselves against the vanguard.

Will you ever live up to the shadow that your father left in your life, or will you resent him until the very end?

Features

Play as Male or Female
Customize your appearance, skin tone, hero suit, and how you use your powers.
Manage your reputation as a hero.
Balance your personal life and hero persona.
Learn more about yourself and those around you.
Live up to a shadow that follows you through life.
Romance one of four ROs or all of them.

So, I write a lot of quests over on RP forums, but the advantage of being a GM is that you can just… improvise. Harder to do that with a computer program.

Anyway, I kinda have a story I might want to tell. It would be a bit like the old “Oregon Trail” game, but in a fantastic setting with orcs and dragons and magic and such. You’d be guiding a wagon train of settlers to the west, managing your limited resources, and attempting to accomplish small, optional, quests along the way for, essentially, bragging points.

I plan for there to be six/seven ‘legs’ to the journey, each with a different theme and escalating difficulty. First leg would be in mostly settled lands where money is important but it’s hard to hunt or forage. Second leg would be the start of the wilderness, fertile lands with good hunting, fishing, and foraging where enough people live that there’s still some opportunities to earn and spend money. There’s a lot of rivers and crossing them becomes a periodic problem. Third leg is the desert, harsh and unforgiving. Little water, and little food. Fourth leg is the mountains, where snowfall is more common and traversal sometimes requires backtracking or clever solutions as the pass may be blocked. Fifth leg is downhill and involves encountering and trading or fighting with the natives. Sixth ‘leg’ is either where you decide how to allocate the resources you brought with you for settling, or a quicker sea trip to the starting city pick up another group to guide. Seventh leg would be an optional leg to a fabled city of psions in ‘the badlands’, which is full of magically mutated dangers, in-between the third and fourth leg

“Redeemer’s Apologue”

First Thing’s First!
Redeemer’s Apologue is the product of almost 2 years of brainstorming and reading more IF books than is probably healthy. I’ve been a reader on COG for a good while now, and while I’m only 19 and I don’t have much writing experience beyond fan fiction and occasionally writing for my OCs, I thought it might be fun to give it a try. I’m also hoping to learn a thing or two about coding along the way, as it’s a skill I’ve been hoping to learn for some time now.

I also want to emphasize that while I do plan on doing this when I can, please understand that I’m currently working on getting into college. Updates will likely be few and far between, and I cannot guarantee that this will ever be finished. Although things may change in the future, at the moment this is purely a hobby of mine and not something I’m planning to do full-time.

At the moment, romance options and central characters are still being fleshed out.

Plot Summary (Much of this is subject to change.)

You are the Redeemer, and you will become a god.

Since the deposition of the Creator, Progenitor of All That Has and Will Exist, from Their throne in the unseen skies above Daskona well over four-thousand years ago, the Pantheon has maintained it’s divine law over all people that exist on it’s surface. For the generations afterwards, the continent of Keihm has existed in relative, albeit unstable peace under the Panethon’s will.

However, things have taken a turn in the last century. Cooperation between the Pantheon has gradually broken down, shattered by petty disagreements on where to steer mortalkind. The war goddess Nuris, the one said to have slain the Creator, wishes to plunge mortals into eternal conflict, left restless by thousands of years of peace. The regnant god Yor desires direct rulership over all mortals, believing it to be the only way to stop chaos from spreading. The six other gods lie in waiting, unable to choose a side.

Not all are content to watch as the Pantheon rips the world apart, however. The Prophet, founder of the Progenite Order, will not stand idly by as the false gods further plunge the Creator’s world into conflict. It is to him that you owe your existence, your life, and your future. He created you, as you created him.

You are the reincarnation of the Creator, given mortal form as the Redeemer. It is your duty and fate to reclaim your throne in the sky, and establish order to what the Pantheon has destroyed. You will become a god. You do not have a choice.

The question is, what kind of god will you be?

Features
  • Trek across the entire continent of Keihm and kill a few gods along the way. No big deal.
  • Defy the circumstances of your birth and be free from the boundaries of gender.
  • Be true to who you are and love whom you will. Or avoid romance altogether.
  • Fall in love with your emotionally constipated general and advisor, a wise but socially inept bird-wizard, a less than holy and painfully obnoxious priest, or a bright-eyed bard who seems to be enjoying this far too much considering the circumstances.
  • Your choices shape the ending. Enforce your will on all around you as the Creator did, or dare to be a force of compassion in a world where little exists.
  • Determine the fate of Daskona and every life that resides within.

Sounds interesting that plot intrigues me. As the mortal reincarnation of what seems to be the head of the pantheon will the MC come into their strength ? Or will we already have some power ? Considering that it appears we’ll have to kill some deities .

Good question. Both, sort of. The MC will have a great deal of power right off the bat, but only in comparison to the mortals around them. The idea I have at the moment is that it will be a cultivation thing, you get progressively stronger as you kill each member of the Pantheon. Another idea I have in regards to the plot was that the Creator’s power was divided between them, and you reclaim that power step-by-step as you kill stronger gods.

So you can romance all ROs in a single playthrough? Will there be consequences?

Sounds very interesting! Is there romance? I enjoyed hearing about the diverse journey pieces. Are there any creatures specific to any lands?

Passion is great! Your first work need not be perfect. And, recently, I’ve seen younger and younger authors.

Say less. I’m sold.

As Myeraland said, you don’t have to worry about that and it’s all about the passion and your intent. Bad Grammar can be improved and worked on, but what’s most important is your vision and the path you want for yourself.

Yeah, the MC may or may not have gotten in trouble for being a bit too promiscuous with their interpersonal relationships in their hero persona. So I wanted to reflect that with the ROs, there will be consequences, but you can try to mitigate them.

Yes, I have 4 RO in mind.

(Player can choose their sex/gender)

One of them is a Kobold, a native of the lands. (The animals and people in the new world are mostly lizards, dragons, dinosaurs, and birds)

One of them is a young doctor, an orc (Orcs have anti-magic and most doctors use magic), s/he’s a potential member of your wagon train.

One of them is a human psion who deals with a lot of bigotry for being a psion and not a mage. s/he’s traveling parallel to your group in their own wagon train.

The last is a somewhat manipulative dwarven businessman who’s always selling scams and appears in most of the towns along your way.

hello guys,

been thinking of making a zombie-themed gamebook

the settings is modern world, but kinda afraid that I may take too much references from resident evil and end up with copyright problem or something similar

are there any big-no-no in zombie world building to avoid copyright? is that okay if I’m asking them here?

any replies are much appreciated, thank you :folded_hands:

Zombie apocalypse has been done to exhaustion. It’s a genre in itself. There’s rarely, if any, new unexplored idea. So as long as you’re not lifting names and characters ipsis litteris, it would be pretty safe, even if you’re making a knockoff version. On the other hand, if you’re putting in the effort to write a book, make it your own! However, if you’re making fan-fiction, that’s fine too, but you won’t be able to commercialize it.

Hey! Would you play the IF exploring this theme?

Space Solitude

After the Age of Delusion and a series of fatal mistakes, the remainder of humanity managed to create a society of high moral standards that solved major global problems and advanced far into space.

What will the Earth look like in such a future? Will it be populated with flying cars and skyscrapers on every inch of its surface, with AI-controlled societies and vertial matrices to distract people from the harshness of the world? Not in this reality! Here, people live modest lifestyles surrounded by the bare minimum of technology. The majority of small communities practice self-sufficiency, and governments are chosen by pure chance and play only administrative roles. You will grow up in this new world to make it better or worse (you decide), discover new horizons, explore the origins of life itself; and all to answer one main question – Is humankind all alone in the eternity of space?

  • Play out your life in the post-post-apocalyptic future utopian society.
  • Take your initiation in the steppes of what used to be known as Central Asia.
  • Find the missing piece to an ultimate theory, learn to control black holes, invent a philosopher’s stone, or create a marvelous piece of art that will forever shape the world.
  • Become the captain of a spaceship and travel to the frontiers of distant stellar systems.
  • Master liberal arts: choose between trivium that is focused on disciplines understanding human, quadrivium to strive to understand the laws of cosmic nature, or try to be versatile and find a balance between the two.
  • Be torn between your mission and your family; get ready to make some really tough decisions.
  • Explore space to understand the essence of being a humanbeing.
  • Every choice you make has an impact on those around you, and, of course, on yourself.

Did you time this with Artemis II’s launch? I absolutely adore space games, and I would love to know where the trivium and quadtrivium terms come from? They roll off the tongue nicely.

Ooo, I’ve learned something new! I can’t wait. Well, I can wait. Take your time!

Yep – Artemis II + Project Hail Mary and personal space-related reasons  Thanks for your interest!

Trivium (grammar, rhetoric, logic) and quadrivium (arithmetic, geometry, music, astronomy) come from the medieval education system of Seven Liberal Arts (septem artes liberales). These arts were believed to be the most important for the upbringing of an educated person. In the world of “Space Solitude” there will be arts that accordingly respond to the challenges of future. Everything old is new again.

The Sixth Trumpet

An up and coming band just about to make it big decides to continue their tour even as Biblical, Lovecraftian, and man-made apocalypses all strike at the same time and the world swiftly comes to an end. A mostly slow paced and melancholic look back at the entangled lives of the protagonist and the other two band members as they press on even when there’s no point. Playing to bars with the roof torn off and thousand eyed angels looking in, stadiums empty save for one sobbing riot cop. Lots of conversations with the band members about past dramas, desires, love triangles, all of which seems so pointless now. They both want to know that, if there was more time, you’d pick them.

Know that everything is meaningless. Find the motivation to continue anyways or give up. Discover love and acceptance years too late. Wonder on what could’ve become. Waste your time trying to find a way to stop it all from ending. Hear the Sixth Trumpet.

Genies In June:

You are the lead singer of a struggling indie rock band. Your band members have vowed to quit and move on with their lives if your next show doesn’t change your fortunes. This band, your friends, are all you have, but they’re slipping away as creative differences, financial struggles, and lack of success threaten to splinter your group.

Then you find a genie in a lamp at a garage sale. The genie promises to grant your band money and fame, but with one cost: your very soul.

  • Play as male, female, or nonbinary
  • Romance a guitarist, bassist, drummer, or keyboardist

When you are forced to choose between losing everything or gaining everything and losing your humanity, what will you choose?

Projected length: 150k words

Genre: supernatural

This game will be similar to Meteoric, but with an indie rock band and a genie instead of a death metal band and an alien.

Here is a playlist I made for it:
