It’s a weird hill to die on. Apparently the MC needs to be called hot on every page to not be considered a hideous beast.
ngl the whole argument is stupid and beaten to death atp the author even stated on her tumblr that the mc is hot like let’s….move on !!! someone talk about who seven was talking to on the phone or something
So does anyone think that G and Blake are related? Like brothers/sisters or cousins or something? And that G somehow stole Blake’s chance at mega stardom (in Blake’s mind, anyway) and that’s why they have beef with each other and why G wants to keep Blake as far away as possible?
I think it was either Sevens mom or maybe MCs mom!! Then again Idk, Based on the conversation MC had with their mom, it’s obvious that it used to be normal for them to check in on eachother’s parents. But at the same time, I don’t think Seven would be having that much of a serious talk with MCs mom, so yeah, maybe their own mother.
What I really want to know is what the Freak is up with G and the “selfish” or personal reasons they picked our band. I wonder if it’s going to come around and bite us in the butt, even though we didn’t know about it.
I feel it’s more a parallel to us/Seven. They were doing this together, until they weren’t. Like G got their chance, but left Blake behind.
Oooo that didn’t even cross my mind. That would be interesting. Like Maybe if not full siblings or cousins, it could be one of them was adopted or a step sibling and maybe they had always been treated differently; which caused a Rival situation once G took off.
@Anarore_Kriptih That’s the thought I originally had honestly. No matter what, I definitely think it’s going to be a Situation similar, if slightly different to MC and Seven.
Oh, they’re absolutely paralleling MC/Seven in some ways. Like, they were a duo, but only G was scouted and he just never bothered to include Blake. Maybe G passed Blake’s demo tape off as their own, or passed it off as a solo project instead of a collaboration between G and Blake, and that’s why Blake calls them a cheater — because they got famous off of Blake’s work. Because if I remember correctly, G’s little intro speech about Viktor scouting them mentions that the demo tape had shit lyrics, but the singing was good, and Blake’s band is noted as having particularly terrible lyrics. I know some people took the “cheater” thing as physical cheating, as in Blake and G were romantically involved, but I don’t think so. Also, Blake’s gender changes depending on whether you play f!G or m!G, and there’s a moment on the bus if you choose to ride with UW that Blake reminds MC of G.
Yes! It’s definitely personal. MC is just collateral, unfortunately. I thought lovers at first, too, but that never quite made sense, y’know? And then I re-read the demo and felt like my third eye was opened. I mean, I sort of understand Blake. G is, like, a super star — even if they didn’t actually do anything to Blake, it must hurt to feel left behind by someone who was supposed to care about you, whatever Blake and G are to each other and whether G had a valid reason for doing it.
I’m the kind of person that would enjoy having an average as heck mc and the Ros questioning why they love my trainwreck.
Attractive or not I need somebody to cook with me for plot (reasons)
Because this template is literally me when I play this games I’m a mess
One last note about that whole mess of an argument, but i replayed it ln and in the scene where you go to get G out of bed, they call you a cutie before they even remember who you are. So G DEFINITELY thinks you’re attractive beyond whatever schemes they might be having behind the scenes. And G is a superstar who’s married to a movie star, and is constantly around some of the most attractive people around. So if G is willing to flirt with you IN FEONT OF THEIR WIFE, it’s safe to say you’re attractive.
No, they do not. This is the scene when V drags you to see G right? Unless you have another demo from Patreon or something G is toying with the mc here, as usual, after waking up, but nowhere do they call mc cute.
From Dashingdon
“Told her to go home,” ${g} mumbles into ${ghis} pillow. “Gave her a day off.”
“And gave me more work to do,” Victoria grumbles.
${g} rolls ${ghis} eyes as ${ghe} props ${ghim}self on ${ghis} elbows, gazing around the room with squinted eyes. When ${ghis} eyes land on you, ${ghis} face briefly brightens. “Oh. You brought a guest.” Then confusion. “Why do I feel like I know you? Wait.” ${ghe} stops you from speaking. ${ghe} snaps ${ghis} fingers. “We met before.”

${g} stares at you blankly as you stumble over your words.
"Sorry," you clear your throat. You try to settle your nerves, inhaling sharply. "We talked briefly back at the audition."
$!{g}'s eyes flutter with realization, and ${ghe} cranes ${ghis} neck with a yawn.' "Riiiight."
#Ignore ${g} and turn to Victoria. "I'll help you clean up."
*set victoria %+ 5

You move to help her but she waves a hand, softening the rejection with an appreciative smile. "It's okay, I got it." She quickly turns around, grabbing a paper towel and wiping down the counters.
"${name}!" ${G} says loudly. "That's your name."
"Congrats," Victoria grumbles.

${g} smirks, resting a chin on ${ghis} hand. "Maybe you just weren't memorable enough." $!{ghe} winks, rearing back to look at you again. "No. That's not true."
"${g}," Victoria says in warning. ${g} shoots you an exasperated look.
#You fold your arms. "${name}," you remind ${ghim} flatly.

${g} grins, snapping a finger at you. "I knew that."
#"You probably don't remember me," you say with a polite smile.

"On the contrary." $!{ghe} tilts ${ghis} head, ${ghis} face twisting with concentration. "….${name}…?" ${ghe} tries uncertainly.
Oh. "I stand corrected."
${G} grins, clearly proud of ${ghim}self.
As ${g} lazily grabs ${ghis} phone, wincing at the light of the screen, Victoria rummages through the kitchen. She grabs a box of what you guess is medicine, grabs one and plops it in water, watching as it fizzles and turns orange.
She walks over to ${g} who, already knowing what it is, begins to shake ${ghis} head. “I don’t need it—”
G remembers mc, G toys with them, at no point do they comment on mc’s appearance, no matter what you choose.
This is the sentence that is on dashingdon’s demo of G waking up and seeing the mc.
They do not call the mc anything at all before remembering who the mc is supposed to be here and afterwards they just toy with mc as they usually do. Mc can make various flattering comments on G’s appearance in this scene, the reverse is absolutely not true.
Too long... surprise...
I just played the demo for the first time last night, and agree with this statement:
I noticed pretty quickly after beginning the demo that the MC is the only character never described as being hot, cute, or otherwise physically attractive. The closest the game gets to this is Sebastian checking them out. So yeah, I think the MC is intentionally being painted as unattractive by the author. Not sure why, but it seems weird that it’s a game where every character but the MC is attractive enough to mention it. Maybe that’s why all of the ROs seem resistant to some degree, ranging from Orion simply ignoring the MC’s obvious feelings to Seven, who clearly wants the MC to die in a fiery plan crash so they never have to see them again.
That aside, I liked the demo. I had seen people complaining about Seven and kind of wanted to check that out to be contrary. I was playing with my test OC, a very nice young woman that forgives and forgets easily but isn’t above being a tiny bit bitchy if someone crosses the line (her line is way over there somewhere and I’ve rarely seen anyone get near it).
Seven… oddly… didn’t get near that line. His attitude sucks, that’s for sure, and he is cold as ice to her, but she still cares about him. I played up to the point where we learn Seven was forced out of the band and then restarted, because my MC’s attitude changed once she knew more of her own backstory. She really doesn’t blame him for being mad–they were in love and even though my MC voted for Seven to stay with the band, she was “overruled”. In other words, she didn’t have the balls to stand up to the others and insist Seven stay or go with him when he left. Maybe he wasn’t working out, but the two of them were in love and it did seem like a betrayal. Maybe that will change when we get more info, but it also seemed like something else was going on, given one comment during the photo shoot about whatever happened.
Griffin, on the other hand, started out seeming like a nice guy then got worse and worse. The implication that he hand-picked the MC’s band to keep Blake and out of the competition didn’t sit well. My MC was attracted to him, but he’s married, ffs. That’s not a line she’s willing to cross and she’s not into women, so a poly with the wife is out. Plus, it seems more that they want to use her to spice up their marriage than actually giving a damn about her, and though she’s really nice, she’s not a doormat. At least, unless the game forces her to be one.
I love Orion. The first run through, before I restarted, she was trying to hit on him. He makes it too apparent he’s not interested, though, and she’s not going to force herself on the guy. Besides, when I restarted, she was going back in still in love with Seven, which also seems like a disaster since he flat out hates her.
Didn’t have much to do with Blake in the demo, other than him being a prick. I really don’t like the guy, and my MC isn’t fond of him either. Perhaps that changes if you choose to let their band travel with you?
I like the game. It’s well-written, save for a few typos I ran across (like “you orders” when you’re ordering G out of bed). The characters who aren’t player controlled are interesting. The MC far less so, which is par for the course in games lately. The choices for the MC’s personality seem to swing widely between “run over your own mother to succeed” and “it’s for the music” (which apparently translates into not caring about your career?). Mia went the professional route, mostly, until her emotions get the better of her.
Is this going to be a one game thing? Or a series? I’m guessing that, either way, all the romances are going to be slow burn and progress at a snail’s pace, since the ROs for my male-attracted MC are basically: guy who would rather eat a pile of duck shit than be within a billion yards of her, guy who ignores her flirting with him and seems exasperated over it, guy who sees her as a sister (Rowan, I think), guy with a kid who’s a fan and is extremely shy, or married guy who wants to use her for whatever purpose he has (probably to spice up the marriage, along with keeping his rival away). Should be interesting to see the MC grovel and beg for one of the ROs to give a damn about them, lol. I’m wondering just how far she’ll have to prostrate herself to actually get a romance.
So, yeah, no one really likes her much at all. She does get along with Victoria, however, so perhaps she’ll make a new friend.
As for the plot, I suspect things will get a lot worse for the MC as things progress, since everyone is shitting all over them for “cheating”. It’s already beginning to wear my “nice” test MC down. Maybe it’d be more fun with a complete asshole of a MC, but I tend not to enjoy playing the asshole types without good reason. Other than everyone except her band members being nasty to her, I haven’t found a good reason for it yet.
Curious to see where this goes.
They’re not, they’re leaving that up to headcanon. They said they may add a system later where you can choose traits, so if you wanna be super attractive or not people will comment on it.
… Can we all just agree that MC is somehow the walking definition of a Corroded Disembodied Beat Down Ugly Monster, who will never be Nothing in life, except a shadow of those around them?? I mean. from what I’m gathering that’s how they’re written, so lets all just accept it. Let’s just accept that fact. It’s Obviously, the only way to find enlightenment within these Dark Times. (Sarcasm, This is Sarcasm, I’m 100% being Sarcastic)
Also, who here plans to try and get Seven back? Part of me wants to try. But the other part of me- who loves playing an MC who takes no Rude crap from anybody, wants to antagonize, every time they even just look at us wrong lol.
This is Coming from the person who Literally wants Blake
That is true and this is another instance where the mc is being a doormat, though I can forgive this one considering the mc was younger here and the others were their other highschool friends, they may have caved to a bit of unhealthy peer pressure there. Like I said this is one doormat instance I can kinda forgive, considering Seven really goes out of their way to hurt the mc after this and also generally handles this breakup in a really immature fashion. So both parties were at fault here.
Unfortunately the game does that a lot in chapter 2, from walking Sebastian to the hotel to letting Victoria drag you along, the mc is really handed a couple of idiot balls here. I mean how can someone who grew up in the age of social media and has been in the industry for nearly a decade now not comprehend how this is gonna look?
Blake is a lot better in their one on one conversation with the mc if you choose their bus and talk to them in relative privacy, apart from maybe Sebastian he seems to be the best RO right now. Music industry wise mc and Blake could make a really good team, every bit as good as they used to be with Seven. Because the one thing the game really does give the mc credit for right now, being a good songwriter is the exact area Blake seems to be lacking in the most with their lyrics being kinda sucky during their audition.
In public Blake absolutely acts like an ass, but his cheating grievance does seem legitimate when taking G’s behaviour towards the mc into account and unlike the mc he seems to know how showbiz and reality TV work, so he is trying to provoke the mc and their band in on-camera confrontations for his own gain. Yes, the mc is innocent here but G does his absolute best to make it appear otherwise and if the mc is not a mind reader then Blake can be forgiven for making the assumption that mc is colluding with G here with whom Blake seems to have a not great history to boot too.
Nevertheless, I find Blake to be the most honest character in the game, apart from maybe Sebastian, unfortunately with Sebastian’s daughter being mc’s stalking mega-fan I feel pursuing Sebastian makes mc the creep.
I agree with you on Orion, too bad Orion is only interested in the mc as a singer/songwriter and not romantically as a person and I agree he seems to make that abundantly clear. So my mc is not going to be a creep and constantly, desperately push his boundaries until he gives in. My mc is not going to become some Yandere stalker until Orion caves, that sort of behaviour is disturbing and unprofessional, not cute and endearing.
Unfortunately in this game that is not shy about calling out the other characters for being good-looking and is set very much in an environment were it would be a tremendous asset, showbiz and reality TV at that it has the effect of making the mc plain at best.
I hope they do, so that the mc can at least compete on a level playing field with Blake and Seven where that part is concerned.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but I attempted that and you can’t be a cocky “bad-boy” asshole. Ultimately no matter what you do mc is ultimately too shy, naive and ignorant to make that work in the game as it is right now.
In the Dashingdon Demo that plain never, ever happens. G toys with the mc, but I wouldn’t call it flirting. In any case they never call the mc cute in the stuff that is on Dashingdon.
Completely agree and while the mc does not seem to have that option I am less and less impressed with Griffin with every subsequent appearance they make in the game.
Perhaps not even that, it seems to be headed to a divorce the way I see it and wouldn’t you know mc is the perfect idiot to shoulder all the blame for breaking up the world’s perfect ValenReign showbiz couple. If that happens G gets his freedom back, minus a couple million bucks, V also gets her freedom back plus a couple of million bucks and the mc gets all the blame in the media for being a homewrecker to the world’s most perfect couple while G and V come out smelling like roses…fun.
Isn’t Blake’s gender always the same as G’s? So if you have Gina you get female Blake too? They may be an ass in public but they do not require meddling in a marriage.
MC is very rarely physically described as anything (positively or negatively) because the author wanted to leave the details of this character’s physical appearance up to the player.
Rowan is not an RO. That said, I think male-attracted MCs have the better selection of options, female-attracted MCs get Seven, G and Victoria, two of which require meddling in a marriage (which I don’t want to do) and the other one openly hates MC (privately, maybe not as much as they put on but I’m not into being cussed out this constantly and this viciously)
The real best option is for nb-attracted MCs though, August gang rise up
Blake isn’t a full romance route, they’re what the author is calling a sub-route, that’s why they’re not in my list. The list of full, actual ROs is Orion, Seven, G, Victoria, Seb and August. If they want a full romance route, female-attracted players really only have the options of messing with this marriage or their ex who keeps calling them a jerk.
Love August!! Idk if I love them more than Seb or Orion, but I enjoy their route. It’s something about it. Especially when both them and your MC are Shy. I thought the whole holding hands thing and them waiting for MC outside the bus was so wholesome!!
I do! I like bully romances and enemies-to-lovers, so them being mean doesn’t faze me at all, especially because it’s so clear that they want MC so badly it makes them look stupid. But if you want to antagonize them while romancing them, you can! The romance and relationship variables are different, so you can, in theory, have a fairly low relationship with them and still end up together. You can be mean to them right now, too — it doesn’t lock you out yet, I don’t think.
Nah I’m moving on. Though not sure who I’m gonna romance though. I don’t particularly like any of the female ROs
Idk what this whole argument about MC is. My MC is hot.
Then again, I don’t really need the story to spell it out for me. This really sounds like the tumblr anons who throw things at the author “the MC is a loser”. Darling, if you made your MC a loser and headcanon them a loser, maybe that’s your own insert issue.
At least if you follow tumblr, you know it’s going to get wild. All the drama. The angst. August being the more “stable”, no that isn’t the right word, “less drama” route, maybe, out of all of them. That being said, I am buckled up for the pain of an ex-Seven romance. While flirting with G and Blake because I’m just messy like that. It’s reality tv. Bring on the mess. At least she will have her bff Rowan there to pick her up when she inevitably has to handle the receipts. Is aid it before, I will say it again, I love the platonic flirting. I need more of it from, everywhere. I think that is honestly what is missing for me from ace plays in other IFs. The ability to flirt and it just be platonic.
Honestly depends on how tuned in I get with the MC. If I connect right with the story and my MC, not long at all to imagine them. How long it takes me to put them to visual is another story entirely. For me, my MC is a sort of living brain creature (as I imagine characters can be for authors). Some MC are happy to be drawn (like my Absentia and Infamous MC) and some are bog gremlins who don’t want to see the light of day (Ouroboros MC).
Infamous causes brain worms and I legit have to sit on my hands to stop myself from constantly doodling my MC and the other characters. My MC being relatively calm and cool most times. Except when it comes to Seven, because they just have that way of pushing her buttons. Excited to see the flashback of The Incident. I usually play the most Mary Sue of characters so it would be weird to see my MC do anything to add to a fight, but after giving it some thought I like it. It makes the characters more human and alive. I know some people do know how to say the “right” thing in the moment, but I think it’s more common for people to say the wrong thing without realizing it in the heat of the moment. So……I love it.
