I’m curious, though, it sounds like most people have just gotten the iterations where Mentor is gone, is Mentor still around for anyone?

Yeah, actually when I got to the ending Mentor was still around. But I doubt they are going to be happy with Etana. I’m really interested seeing where this story goes.

I don’t think I’ve ever read a COG game so interestingly unique in the form the story is told (impressive considering I’ve played nearly every COG and hosted games game). While I’m sure the main story and the story within the story will connect in some way further down the road, as it stands, you’re essentially telling two stories. And yet you manage to make both pull in the reader so much. The method of telling the second story is brilliant (it works amazingly well in COG format, too). I never found myself disappointed to be switching between the two plots–yes, I wanted to know what happened next, but that was true for each.

Currently there’s so many questions and mystery. It’s awesome how you’ve managed to instill this sense of…leaving me with the sense that the answer to everything is on the tip of my tongue? Like there’s just one piece missing (even if that isn’t the case). It creates a really immersive experience for the reader.

I look forward to seeing more😄

I’m always worried with this kinda plot that I’m either giving away too much or too little, I don’t want it to be made entirely clear so there’s no incentive to continue on with trying to find out the mystery, but I also don’t want it to be so vague that the reader has no idea what’s going on. So I’m happy you think its worked out so far!

I’m just trying to figure out how my metal face grows with my body… getting it replaced every few months sounds painful…

It is! (But that’s why they use sedatives). And that’s exactly what happens.

Thing is- metal doesn’t grow. So every City Limb needs to be replaced as the City Child grows older, and continue to be so every month or so until they stop growing.

The severity of the repercussion if the limb is not replaced varies from limb to limb.

For example, if you don’t replace your arm… well, it’d be painful and awkward but not necessarily lethal.

But a face? Or a torso? You can’t forget your appointment there. (Sucks that those two also require more frequent replacements, but that’s how the body grows for ya.)

If you want, I put a little post on the drawbacks of each City Limb a ways up (post 79) but here’s the Face’s tidbit (which talks a bit on the replacement of the Face-style City Limb):

The Face’s main problems come from the eye and replacing it, and applying it in the first place. It has to be replaced ASAP like the torso, because otherwise you risk having it crush your skull. Applying it in the first place is near impossible, and half the time those that require facial prosthetics are on the verge of death (like the torso) to begin with. Also skin it’s not detachable like the arm or leg, the skin can grow over the face. That’s… not good. It hides any rust, speeds up rust, and is prone to infection. It’s like when you leave an earring in for too long, the skin grows over the earring and you have to cut it out of your ear, lots of blood and pain (an experience I know all too well…) The facial prosthetic owner has to be wary of this… but there’s really no way to prevent it? Other than scraping off your skin whenever it gets too close, that is.

The second major problem in the face is the eye, which is basically a glass eye… mostly just cosmetic, but as City technology gets better more and more goes into developing a way for the eye to actually see and be hooked up to the brain. Right now, someone with a facial prosthetic might be able to see vaguely fuzzy, nearly colorless forms with their prosthetic eye (assuming vision in the other eye is fine, then they’d still be able to see out of their other eye normally). But having poor sight is bad in such working conditions, it makes it hard to move and do certain tasks, especially those that require precision, like repairing the smallest gears.

So… yeah, it would be very painful without sedatives.

It’s a full anti-city run. Was in Julie’s house, digging through everything, had found the key and gotten into her room, opened drawers, didn’t search them, looked at clothes, then… I don’t remember if I was trying to leave the room or if I was trying a different option… sorry.
