How fun, I want to take the other road. I want to make her see that being super duper angry and unwilling to forgive stuff (Rade, Vedran) is unhealthy. But realistic, yes, it would be hard not to feel a little resentful/angry at her even if you were a saint.
Wouldn’t Milon be the one that the Queen has to negotiage with, regardless of which one is romanced? Could get funny with Milon trying to explain how he must get something to marry off Lada.
Milon would have to negotiate with Elya for the (Loyalist) Marshal’s hand, since [the Marshal]'s the Queen’s Beloved Sister and Magister Militum (assuming the rehonoring isn’t yet finished and Loyalist F!Marshal isn’t Princess Marshal, in which case he would absolutely need Elya’s permission), since she’s the (de jure) head of their family and state. M!Marshal would have to go to Milon for Lada’s hand for the same reasons. Both because of etiquette (and possibly laws; Kanton law about lesser royalty marrying without permission of the sovereign is unknown) and because it’s polite to see how the other members of a family feel about you marrying one of their own. Even if you’re 100 percent sure they’d be happy/give permission.
If F!Marshal is the Queen/Regent Milon would still have to woo her since she outranks him. King/Regent M!Marshal could marry Lada without Milon’s permission, but it’s a bad look and impolite.
Milon himself would likely do things by the book and ask Elya (as of Chapter 3 she’s right there) for permission. Even if it is not treasonous for him to marry the sovereign’s sister without [the sovereign’s] permission (Treason Act 1351 - Wikipedia, unsure if there is such a law on Kanton’s books), he would do it because Elya’s the Marshal’s sister and sole relative whose opinion she values.
As for Mira, she has as much power as Elya chooses to grant her (which is currently none. Care, yes, but no power). Even in the household itself, she is only powerful if Elya listens to her. The Marshal certainly won’t.
Elya is the head of the state but not of the family. She is the Marshal’s younger half-sister which doesn’t make her the head of the house in any capacity. (this becomes extra muddled if Mira is still alive, because she’s then technically the “queen mother” with undetermined authority over the family matters) Being the Marshal’s employer doesn’t mean she’s got any say in who the Marshal would marry, either – the Marshal can tell her “fuck off, i quit” at any moment.
Also, probably worth to keep in mind that, as a Queen, Elya wouldn’t typically have full control even over her own potential marriage, as that’d be a matter of some sort of compromise with the country’s nobles and/or council.
Getting rehonored only matters to me if it doesn’t affect my hooking up with Kate or needs rehonored to hook up with Kate?
Confused yet how this will end up. Considering others did confirm Obren/M!Marshall hid. I was aware Vedran and Obren did. Yep, I keep making them lovers, or exs. I still put Rade and his bff as lovers. Though they could have tight friendships without that aspect. I just prefer to put them together. Similar to Vedran and Obren, they’d been great friends instead of lovers, but… well. Its more fun watching them hating each other as x lovers than x friends. X friends is just, whatever, in reality, as they are literal nothingburgers vs x’s that tend to have more impacts. (Crowing up moving through dozens of schools caused that, easy break friendships that dont affect me that much vs x’s that did.)

My 1966 MC isn’t the only eldritch version of my MC
The mold in my Marshal’s cowboy hat head is the most powerful and malicious eldritch being in the multiverse. It is only barely kept at bay by my Marshal’s obsession with Rade.
Also Cowboy Gov’nors ride pink Utahraptors to battle
I only realized while drawing this that both my 1966 and ITFO MCs wear crowns over their hats
Sounds like a good explanation, I only based my perception of how it works from Crusader Kings.
The Normal Marshal exists in the Cowboy Marshal Saga
Neither of them know the other exists. The reason why they’ve never met is because the Cowboy Marshal showed up midway to Krorid and everyone mistook him for the Normal Marshal. They all left the Normal Marshal behind while he was sleeping. If they ever meet, they will fight to the death.
You’re probably wondering, how does all this work? How were they born? What about the other cowboy gov’nors?
Well the answer is simple: dragon breaks exist in Kanton.
Also if the mold in the Cowboy Marshal’s hat head is ever unleashed, it will cause the Kantonian equivalent of the black plague. That is my ideal ending.
I noticed midway through making this that I have only ever drawn Elya happy once.
btw remember when I said I wasn’t sure if Obren romance was canon in the Cowboy Marshal Saga? I’ve decided it is canon but only with the Normal Marshal. No one can tell the Cowboy Marshal and the Normal Marshal apart so when Obren flirts with the Cowboy Marshal, he thinks he’s flirting with the Normal Marshal. Obren gets very confused when Cowboy Marshal does not return his affections while Cowboy Marshal was very confused when Obren gave him the dagger.
I bet Mira would love a Catboy Marshal
ft Stoyan, the Marshal of my friend u/iiFeliscityii
He is a catboy gov’nor which is like cowboy gov’nors but they have cat maid headbands. Like all hat gov’nors, they reproduce via mpreg but the baby gestates inside the cat ears and two tiny babies are born each time. They are born like kangaroos: little red rockets that climb their way into the pouch located on their apron.
I dunno, i feel like the fingers wouldn’t end up the only things getting snipped…
