I, the Forgotten One Release Thread (1.2)

I think that achievement is bugged, pretty sure I met all the requirements and still did not receive it

Amazing work, i hope we got gay female RO for the next series

Some very random consideration:
A) During Elya ceremony, the Mc repeat something like 3 or 4 times how much he is happy to do what he want, with his dress. That was a bit annoying.
B)While stomping Mozoroff army, making him cope, and only losing 200/300 men was based i donā€™t like the fact we lost our rangers. Not when Mozoroff want to call the enemy.
C) Regarding Vedranā€¦ I donā€™t knew Iā€™m really fail to care about that idiot. In fact I butchered him with my greatsword, I have absolutely 0 regret about it.
D)Hopefully Milon has learned one or two things from the Marshall, the fact his forces never rally had to fight in this book itā€™s a good thingā€¦ Then again I donā€™t think Mozoroff should be already ready to threat Milonā€™s land.

Played the WIP, what a great game. Does anyone know what is the most decisive victory you can get in the first battle at the Atiming river?

Forgot about that, though I donā€™t think the Erisians would like him more than mc. Heā€™d have to promise them serious plunder. But if they do get involved maybe my mc will find out more about the fancy necklace he looted.
On a more serious note Rade dragging in the Erisians might risk others becoming involved too, like the Ravarians or Loston, which would mean we could go from medieval Vietnam to medieval great war.

He is a well-educated young Duke, so assume he knows a lot more of stuff that isnā€™t combat, including smithing apparently, than an mc of either gender. Which is to say he may or may not know if it is (theoretically) possible.

Thatā€™s not what I meant. I mean it might be advanced scholarly knowledge only available to a few and useful to even fewer. Say that, for example, in the distant past the Ravarian emperor used to be the head of the church and that there were a handful occasions back then where the Emperor, in truly extraordinary circumstances ā€œrestoredā€ somebodyā€™s honour. But if no pope has ever done the same after the fall of Old Ravaria it is simply not relevant to most and most people in the day of the mc would assume that it is impossible and never done, despite there being some historical precedent for it.

Milon, presumably having received an education on par with that of kings might know that historical tidbit but the mc and even most priests would not because they have no reason to.

Encirclement and killing them all.

Yeah, some of them will escape even if you do the encirclement properly. Nothing can be done with that.

I assume thatā€™s the V formation (with Tactics specialty)? I think I always misrecruit my army in the earlier scene somehow because some of them always escape.

Fully encircling the army itā€™s very hard, you must make some specific choice.

A) You must be a tactic Mc.
B) During the Belloā€™s Sally, charge the archers then fall back.
C) Choose reggimentation for your retinue
D) Choose tactics option for dealing with the illness, that has hit your army.
E) Leave the missing soldiers behind, donā€™t save them.
F) When dealing with Cyrill use the ā€œfeudal contract optionā€
G) And then, when gathering troops, invest 4.5 points in light cavalry, four points in archers, and everything else in infantry.
H) At the Aiting Rivers, during the planning took the option ā€œWait before you commit for any flanking manouverā€.
I) Plan:Fortification+Tactics(the V formation).
J) Spread up evenly both the retinue and your dismounted heavy cavalry.
K) Shoot back the archers. I refer to when they try to kill Lada.
L) Kill the foraging party
M) During the battle send the light cavalry to cross the river.
N) Join your army during the middle of the fight.
If you follow this instruction only Nado cavalry, and few hundreds infantry survive.

The ending, how to win against Rade. I keep getting Marshall killed. How many points for the rangers or Kroridian veterans?

Yep, it is just that Milon might have a possibility to know scholarly and historical knowledge few others would or would even be interested in. Though my scenario was just an example only Bacon knows the historical truth of his own setting of course.

I finally got to play, just got this blank line and was wondering what might have caused it. Seems like I encountered this bug as well

All I have to say is bravo! The streets needed this release badly.

This what I have done:

A) Upgrade retinue with Reggimentation II
B) Gain the lord of Krorid respect. Be honest: say that you donā€™t like his manor, that you would have prefered to deal with his predecessorā€¦
C) I spend 6 points in rangers, upgrade my retinue twice, I recruited the light cavalry only once. The remaining point i donā€™t remember if I have recruited veteran, or militia.
D) When I reached Krorid i took the shortest route.
E) When you plan to fought Mozoroffā€™s army, take the tactics option.
F) During the battle I have done nothing, but constantly focus on targeting his supplly line (even when I have stormed his camp), and made sure to preserve the life of my men. I lost something of the like of 200/300 men while Radeā€™s army was almost entirely wiped out.

Basically the tactics option, use a LOT of skirmish and ambush, so rangers and light cavalry are a must. I think retinue too are important.
If there is a better way to crush Mozoroff I donā€™t knew, but mine work just fine.

My army before I faced Rade:
1600 levy
88 light cavalry
600 heavy cavalry
726 archers
800 rangers
3200 retinue
Reggimentation I and II

Thank you all for the feedback so far! Thereā€™s so much Iā€™m not going to be able to respond to it all, but I do read every comment.

Judging on whatā€™s been said so far, combined with the bug reports, Iā€™m going to rewrite the code behind the final battle to make the options more (hopefully) clear, as well as make each more decisive.

A retreat is better than a complete collapse by a wide margin.

Fixed!

Fixed!

He is!

Well thatā€™s not good. Iā€™ll take a look and see whatā€™s causing it.

Good eye! Iā€™ll have that fixed for the next update.

I think so.

Itā€™s been over a year since I touched the code for chapter nine, but Iā€™ll see what I can do and see if I can make it not look soā€¦ utterly terrible.

I recall three errors in my playthrough. One was where i] was shown, likely instead of italics tag. I think MC was listing the names some used to call them, with the last being ā€œbastardā€, and the mistyped tag was before that word (bastard).

The other one was repeating text. Two occurrences, once when dressing for the coronation I think, another before some battle choice, but canā€™t remember exactly when.

Hello!!! I finished my first playthrough and WHOOOOWEE it was great! I love the balance of harsh reality mixed in with the grim humor expected from soldiers thrown in. I was curious if you could explain romances to me. I know Milonā€™s an option for a fem Marshal but is he the only one? I saw screenshots of Obren that hinted at a romance between him and the Marshal that I thought was really sweet, is he an option for a fem marshal as well?

Lada is the RO for straight m! Marshals, Obren is for gay m! and Milon is for straight f!. The sequel may add other ROs, notably one for gay f! Marshals, but those 3 are the only ones in this game.

Ah shame. Excited about who we may meet in the sequel then!

Congratulations for the release! Just finished my first playthrough. Itā€™s an amazing game!!

The MC is such a great character. Human. Real. The balance between their internal struggles/hope/despair vs external actions is immersive and compeling. The choices are meaningful. The NPCs are interesting. Iā€™m so curious to see what will be the role of the ā€˜motherā€™ in the sequels. Love Lada develpment. The sister and her relation with Marshal is so heartwarming. The way the Marshal can influence her to be cold and cunning and yet, even when the MC is kinda harsh, we can see how it is deep and affectionate, even with the name calling. I love this so much. How she is becoming stronger, cunning and is still sympathetic. I want to point that share the interest in a female romance for a female Marshal, and I am curious/excited to try the other routes because I feel you incorporate the romance subplots in a meaningful and compeling way, actually elevating and enriching the story - which imo is sladly so rare.

TLDR: great game, writting, and characters. Couldnt recommend it enough
