Hunter: The Reckoning — Day for Night is out now! In Hollywood, everyone is dying to be famous!

Aw, man, I lost my progress. I hadn’t cleared anything with my browser, just clicked the bookmark like usual to get to the game, and it pushed me back to the start of chapter 1. I had been at the group meeting talking to Lex.

Nothing has changed with this section and having just tested on a fresh profile, it seems to be possible with your build. Watch out what choices you make on some non-stat testing choices like your positioning in the room with her (with a Sig, you should be getting some distance) or how you throw her off when she’s first sighted you (since she’s blind and gets around by scent, scattering garbage helps) as these choices also add or subtract from killing her.

Yeah, I tried both those things  Thank you, I’ll keep at it!

After several days of on-off playing, I’m still on my first life with this game, and currently on Chapter 5.

Wow. I’m surprised just how much there is to this game! I’m not getting the meaning of the sub-title, though. Unless for the hunter MC, his/her days and nights are effectively the other way round?

I do like the structure, where most of the time you have places to visit in different districts of Hollywood, that become layered up as you work through missions and side tasks. Haven’t seen that before. Why is South Hollywood not present, though? I’m not American, and I’ve only been to Hollywood once. So please excuse me if I’m missing something.

I’ve been injured a few times, but my MC is still getting most of her missions and side tasks completed.

This game is one of the best I’ve played from Choice Of Games. Here’s hoping that the rest of it keeps up the quality.

That’s definitely part of it! After the La Abeja hunt the text even says something like “Arbo mentioned how a Hunter’s sleeping schedule starts to resemble that of bloodsuckers”.

But there’s a more direct meaning you’ll uncover at the end of one of your companion’s sidequests! If you want a bit more detail on how to get there (no spoilers on the actual story): visit Arbo to share stories about previous hunts, in his last tale you’ll get the meaning . Note that, as with all other character quests, you can only reach the end at the last chapters.

Day for Night is a film term: Day for night - Wikipedia

There is no South Hollywood. West Hollywood, Hollywood, and North Hollywood are distinct real-world neighborhoods.

I guess East Hollywood technically exists, but…it’s unremarkable.

I love this game. Its dense and packed in exactly the way Hunter genuinely is and theres so much going on that it really feels like a character’s life. Nothing feels cheesy and the writing is great and i genuinely laughed out loud at some of the dialogue. It feels so real and cliche in the same way that actual people can feel cliche. Love it. We encounter basically everything in the book except for mages (unless Mr Jeweled Scepter WAS our mage) But it just feels great. Choices have consequences that arent just cosmetic; the game doesn’t hold your hand with the difficulty and depending on your build you can struggle in ways that feel believable or even deserved. I also personally love that this game has a CHAPTER SAVE system because jesus christ some of these games need it. I ALSO love that there is a default gender for the ROs rather than “all male, all female all random, choose as you go” while including those as well. It keeps immersion high and I was literally feeling like I got sent into a different world reading this. Its long in a way that feels like it needs to be this long and it expands in a few different directions (basically all of the directions lol) without getting sidetracked from the main plot. During missions, there can be almost as much violence as you want their to be. There was an extensive amount of work and love put into this. I love it. And our MC can have a necromancer gf! something BoHN robbed me of

This game in general is an honest 10/10, and I recommend it to all my friends.

There seems to be a bug with the Lumina questline, even if Willes says that Lumina is on board and wants to hire you, he doesn’t actually give you the invitation and you can’t choose to join them for the ending. The final lumina mission is also bugged, even if you manage to save everyone, Willes will still say that everyone other than the operative blew up.

Also, anyone figured out which clan Gabe Cross is supposed to be? Both his chidre have access to Protean, which should mean he’s a Gangrel, but Audrey also has access to dominate, which shouldn’t be possible. I can buy Gabe having picked up some tricks during the 30 years he’s spent as a vampire, but Audrey has been one for a scant couple of months at most, and there’s no way she picked up an out of clan discipline in that short a period of time.

I think Gabe and his progeny are Gangrels with Scene Queen (giving them Dominate) as their predator type. Gabe therefore could reasonably have Protean 2 and Dominate 2 to get Visctitude and move his heart around.

Edit: they could also be a clan that natively has Dominate (probably Malk) and then Gabe has a predator type Trapdoor giving him protean

Alternatively, he could be Tzimisce

Counterpoint: Hunter Vampires aren’t really meant to be strictly bound by VtM rules. They are the same creatures, mostly, but I think as a Hunter ST playing around with powers that make for a better story (even if they’re “illegal” by VtM RAW standards) is totally fine. Gabe and his childer are Vampires, of the Vampire Clan, who do Vampire things. The specifics can be fudged.

I dont think the question of Gabe’s clan was in an "uhm…Actually  " way but more of a “Hmmm ” way. I had similar questions myself like “Wow, this vampire is obviously using protean, but how do they also have dominate? I wonder what their clan is” or “Hmm, the werewolves exist in this part of Hollywood; I wonder what clan our friend would be… Elliot is a writer. Child of Gaia maybe?” Or “Hmm, I wonder what type of Changling Nico is. What Court or House could she belong to?”

While I dont claim to speak for the other guy at all, I think its Just a little bit of harmless speculation, not an attempt to comb through the story to see how closely it follows RAW

I don’t know if anyone else is getting it but I’m getting a error 403 when stacking out the influencer target and then i run into the error message? i just want to know if its just me or if other people are getting it too

Hey, sorry that’s happening for you! I haven’t seen or had this issue reported so far, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t something that could be causing it in rare cases.

I’ll investigate it either way, but if you report the bug, I’ll get a lot more info about your game state to help determine what might have caused it.

I love the characters and the ROs having fun with it to the end, although I wish that we have more options for the guns tho expectedly in the handguns, would’ve loved to role play as Clint Eastwood hunter or something.
