Hey guys what’s

… Christ. That’s more than overkill. Seriously, wanting to kill someone because they rejected you is an unhealthy way to interact with any relationship, including fictional ones.

As for all of this: I’m honestly not going to advertize any game I theoretically make from now on as having ā€œromance options,ā€ and just say that there are characters you can have a relationship with, because I feel like the default tone taken whenever a character is listed as a ā€œromance optionā€ seems to be, according to this thread at least, that the romance should go perfectly, or that you are entitled to that character because you’re in a romantic relationship with them.

And I don’t want to write a story where that’s the case.

I have a WIP that I may never finish, but I’ll freely reveal that each of the characters you can romance in it have hard lines that you shouldn’t cross if you want to romance them. All of those lines are reasonable to not cross, but they’re there because I fundamentally believe that if you’re interacting with a character, they shouod be more than just furniture.

And all of you people subliminally posting: just say AToH, y’all.

And in that case, it really isn’t subtle that Ignis is into Seeker. It comes up in essentially every single conversation, and there are multiple warnings by other characters and multiple chances to quit the romance. It’s not something that’s suddenly snuck up on you, you just didn’t read the cues.

I have and will keep killing characters just because they slightly annoyed me, sometime in an entirely different playthrough, you might as well be asking people to drive responsibly in GTA.

I mean, they ARE entitled to it, that’s the basics of advertisement, anything you advertise? The buyer is entitled to have it once they pay so if you say they can have that character in the game and they can’t, it’s false advertising and a bad move. Like you can’t expect people to be happy after you lied to them about what you’re selling.

Don’t think anyone has a problem with this, it’s moreso when the character is advertised as a RO and then suddenly ends things no matter what. No lines crossed or anything they just stop the romance to be with another person. If the writer wants two characters to end up together then no problem, but if you’re advertising that character as a RO then there should be some variation where the player can keep the relationship going.
