I honestly don’t care about the level of darkness in games as long as it all pulls off in the end and I get rich!

Bulletstorm is pretty edgy, but it’s also pretty campy. Doom is also quite edgy, but it revels in it

What is Eurothrash? Neither my dictionaries nor a Google search turned up the info for me. (Google gave me Eurotrash as a replacement.)
It’s what we called the european wave of horror/sleaze movies from the sixties to eighties, especially the italian/spanish ones. I managed to mispell it, it is indeed Eurotrash. It’s this kind of movie: (It is an IMDB link so it should be safeish).

I do not believe that this possibility should be paid any attention to, and a disclaimer in the beginning is more than enough. You can write about bad people gleefully doing bad things, and it doesn’t mean that you are endorsing it (you simply write from said bad character’s focal point).
UPD: “dark” and “engaging” are only vaguely connected. It’s boring if everything’s all dark all the time, and boring if everything’s sunshine and rainbows. “Dark” is not the problem, “monotonous” is.
