Yes, sorry about that. Basically, I really liked Thor Ragnarok, and I wanted to do something similar for the second part (emphasis on similar, as the story will actually be very different!)
Otherwise, I have just pushed another version of the game in, which fixes many things and polishes the grammar a lot (thanks to all those that gave feedback, and I note that I haven’t replied to all yet, as I slowly work through comments)
This story is brilliant. I haven’t seen decent a superhero game since the original heroes rise trilogy. I especially like the variety of powers which allows for a lot more power sets that you can tailor to fit a specific playstyle. There are a couple issues I would like to put forward, one of them being an issue with some abilities not being able to be used when it seems like the best option at that time such as with the time powers. Specifically I don’t understand why a stop time ability isn’t able to be used to a limited degree. And another issue it think is the Romance as I’ve played through the demo multiple times and I’ve only managed to achieve a kiss with the captain and all subsequent encounters with her are still limited to a professional manner an example of this is after the masquerade ball she says something along the lines of she ‘likes’ my character as a person but he’s still just another vigilante.
I would really appreciate being able to test the next section of the book as I would love to see if the Romance starts to develop a bit more
Regarding the time powers… stopping time would just be too game-breaking. The problem is that there are too many powers, so I had to limit the number of game-breaking ones… sorry.
Regarding the RO, most of it takes place in the next part of the game. Having said so, I still think they aren’t the best ever written (not my forte really… I think I’m improving but I still have a long way to go…)
Just about to push another version of the game up, for those beta testing. I am slowly feeling that this is starting to look “finished”, so I won’t accept any more beta testers for a while. Basically, I will submit to CoG at the end of the weekend (after a couple more playthroughs).
Anybody testing the game, could you please provide any bug reports or feedback by then?
My intention is to then possibly have another round of testing (for the final game), a couple of weeks before release (as I might add a few more side missions in the meantime).
Working hard on this now, while doing last play throughs myself.
I’m starting to get the feel that things are almost finished. Still a few comments and bugs to incorporate, but should finish this by tomorrow and submit!
Finally the end is in clear sight! Final game seems to be 324,000 words, average play throughs of 43,000!
Sorry, unfortunately it is intentional. Basically the game otherwise doesn’t work, as during the fights the turn into shadows essentially works as a stun… clearly, some parts of the powers work less well than others.
Otherwise, I have just re-numbered all the endings, and are proceeding with debugging the game (I’m hoping to hopefully upload the final version of the game today, but I keep finding more bugs myself).
In total, there seems to be 23 endings. 10 are good, one is so-so, and 13 are failure states.
It’s taken a bit longer than anticipated to sort some of the last bugs, but finally finished my last major playthrough. Some more work to do, running long bug checkers etc and sorting out some stuff I’ve found today. But, will be submitting on Monday for sure!!
And… just officially submitted the files to CoG!!!
First of all, thanks soooo much to everybody who read it so far, and to all the help with debugging, suggestions and encouragement!!! You cannot imagine how much it has all helped!!!
As for the submission… the game is now 329,600 words long, with playthroughs of ~41,000. It’s by far the most complex one I have ever attempted, though I am glad it is finished.
I might add some more side missions in the next month or two, if I gather enough energy (I will first have to take a break, replenish my batteries, and try to catch up with my own work).
But, so far this is it! (for those in the private threads, I have uploaded the final version as it stands now, in case you want to enjoy it).
