Some of the HG or CoG M/F romance were already top notch to be honest… i am very satisy with those story , i don’t see why we need to pursue more romance from HC …
I really have no problem without the orientation of romances as I role-playing I could role-playing a gay a queer another woman. In fact I found it very useful to empathize like imagine being in shoes other people and their struggles.
Like I know the HC won’t triggering me with the stuff I am against to i probably enjoy everything except the games supposed aimed at me f/m I have not found a single virtual novel or similar dating sim that I feel as woman happy about. I prefer play as male. Due I hate being forced to be a submissive female obsessed with clothing and find my first bf and marry. In fact most virtual novels should be named submission marriage . In fact google play can’t stop recommended me this really bad choices games (from other company. Not my fault that games are called CHOICES so this is not against cog )so machismo also The Forged marriage In love with your kidnapper and several terrible anti women stuff…
@Eric_knight being totally sincere because the inclusion of Erotic content (big for lot of people) and a type of connection with a character a hosted a cog can’t achieve a realistic deep exploration of a relationship at its full.
Hi all! It’s awesome that there’s still so much enthusiasm for Heart’s Choice! We’re still excited about it too, and we’re looking forward to being able to show you more games.
However, this thread is for the Heart’s Choice FAQ and questions related to that. The more theoretical discussion about male-protagonist romance is starting to get off of that topic. If you’d like to continue that discussion, please make a separate thread for it. Thanks!
Thank you for the very clear response.
And i am sorry about kinda breaking the rules that must have slipped my mind.
But it is nice to have a nice clear update on how progress is going
Presumably like a F/M game but from the opposite perspective? I don’t think it’s that hard to imagine. But hopefully we can see a mix of games on HC when it’s developed enough.
I’m sorry, I’m new. How do I find one of these Heart’s Choice games?
The first one is still in the process of completion and being published–so there are none you can buy…yet!
So sad! Thanks for answering.
Hi everyone! So I’m pretty new here, but I’ve been working on a game for a while - actually one of the new Heart’s Choice line, which I’m super excited about. I’m not sure if it’s too soon to make an introduction post for it or however that works, but wanted to hang out a bit in here and say hello. (If it’s still relevant to thread discussion, mine isn’t gender locked for the PC, and has 4 romance options in a variety of genders. :D)
One thing that just occurred to me to ask - it’s amazing that CoG is a SFWA qualifying market! Would that carry over to the Heart’s Choice imprint? My game (Dawnfall) is a kind of eclectic mix of fantasy and cyberpunk-adjacent sci-fi, and that’s definitely where my nerd heart lies. Awesome to meet all of you here!
Heart’s Choice will actually be its own company, though a subsidiary of COG.
I would expect that SFWA will have to independently approve HC as a qualifying market.
However, sending in a copy of your contract without it being a qualifying market is how many people get qualified anyway, so I would encourage you to do that. That will probably get the ball rolling there.
Ah okay, thank you! Just so I’m clear, would me applying individually then make all of HC eligible, assuming it’s accepted? I’m looking around at their guidelines but don’t really know how this all works.
It wouldn’t necessarily make HC a qualifying market. But if the contract meets their standards—which is largely about $ per word—then getting it on their radar will start the process of becoming one.
Ah yeah, I’m seeing that it has to have been active for 1 year and sold at least 10 different works, so… probably no point in doing this for a while, then, and the first titles out won’t qualify, if I’m understanding this right. That’s kind of disappointing, but that’s publishing for you.
Because they know COG, I suspect that that particular requirement will be relaxed.
But I could be wrong.
That would be really awesome. I’d love to apply, and might make a thread to that effect (and hopefully get the answers to the questions they ask). Thanks so much!
The short answer is, apply as soon as your game is released. Worst case, they tell you to wait, right?
Yep! That sounds good. (I must admit, a small, gremlin-like part of my brain is thinking about Hugo/Nebula eligibility, but some things can’t be rushed, and publishing is about twelve of those things, ha.)
Is there a release date for the app yet?
Previously, I heard that it might be released on 11/7. Is this true or simply a rumor?
Thank you.
If you read the edit above in the original post, you’ll note that it says we hope to launch at the end of this year. I do not have a date for you today.
Ah thank you and I’m sorry. I must have been so sleepy because I thought it said late 2018
