Could I know what chapter this is? Like @Morphine, I wasn’t able to get Dev’s achievement. I’m pretty sure that I didn’t flirt with Loren or Bastian.

I got the achievement for Dev when I chose to talk to him during the banquet when you were prompted for your choices. To get to the bedroom scene, you need to choose the option that lets you talk with Bastian about the prisoners, and it should take you back to the baron’s office. You will be prompted for a choice again. Choose the first option (if I remember that correctly) and it will take you directly to the scene.

As a note, I have had some playthroughs and from what I gathered, flirting with any other character shouldn’t affect your ability to access this scene or your protagonist’s standing with Dev so long as you make sure to follow the steps outlined above. All the flirting does is change the narrative in the Stats menu.

Yes, the house has a mind of its own; those scenes are randomly determined.

So who was it possible to be in a poly relationship with? I heard there was this option so its cool to see a game where they’re not just calling you a cheating b*stard for trying this route but when I flirt with lady reave it tells me I cant because of my interactions with Dev and the investigation

When I first saw him in the mansion on the choices of who to talk to I picked to go to work with him. When I fainted after I attacked the butler I woke up I then told Loren and Dev that we all go to sleep in our separate beds and then when I woke up again and got the option to go to Dev’s room

Has anyone figured out how to do the achievements: “Fear and Loathing” and “Be Their Hero”

Can someone help me with the Room for two more achievement? I would really like to play for all the achievements.

I got “Be Their Hero” on my first run through so the details are a little vague but essentially: I just prioritized the life of everyone in the House whenever the option was presented. Such as during the banquet when Reaves asked me to try and contact their father once more and it went wrong I told them to get everyone out, and when the House started trying to take people at the ball I focused all my energy on saving them at the cost of Uncle Kenny’s life. (Admittedly I panicked here 'cause it was my first time around and I knew Dev was in the crowd so I was scared that if I didn’t dot his he’d die, haha. I realized on later playthroughs that picking the other option wouldn’t automatically lead to his death but, y’know, priorities. I wasn’t about to risk letting him die.)

EDIT: I should say I think this is what you have to do. Like I said I did it the first time around so I wasn’t trying to pay attention to what choices I was and wasn’t taking and if the results were “good”- more that they were the ones I just wanted to take.

I also got in on my first “complete” run. Thanks btw for the info about saving Dev.

Anyway What I did was choosing to go with Dev after he arrived and investigating, and distracting the butler. From there you get the option to free a lot of prisoners. During the masquerade I didn’t play along and prioritized every choice that would help me potentially save/warn guests. I also choose to focus on freeing the already half-trapped dancing people…and then let Bastian save Dev and the lady he was protecting.

I was a bit disappointed with Oriana’s romance myself. Especially that she wiped my MC’s memories after I sided with her in every opportunity. I get that she’s a demon, but I’d’ve been happy to help her look after the House. TT_TT

Are there any alternative endings for her, or is that it?

There are alternative endings. I’m not sure romance-wise as I haven’t romanced her yet. But I know that if you have high enough acranum then she’ll fail to wipe your memories. Or if you have a good relationship with Reaves they can interfere and tell her to cut it out. So those will probably change the ending you got??

I know there’s at least one non-romance alternate ending with her. If you choose to set her free. Or she may stick around after the end in which case you can technically “set her free” but it’s more releasing her of her contract to Reaves than to… well, this world. But like I said I’m not sure how that effects the romance.

Can anyone tell me specifically how to get the poly option? I’ve flirted with both Dev and Loren but beyond that I don’t have any idea to unlock it.

Do you also have to save Enoch/fox mask? I really don’t like this boy :))

Other than that for Bastian’s romance scene, there’s only one variation right? Or did I miss out on other ways the scene can play out?

Like compare Dev’s where you can stumble into bed or have a heated make out session first

Nope! I left Enoch in his cell b/c I just wanted him to prove that he was telling the truth since he seemed sketchy and turns out I was right cause he quickly broke into threatening my MC and we weren’t having that at all. So, no, Enoch can stay in his cell.

It seems like Enoch always breaks free. Even in the runs where I didn’t release him, he still shows up. Unless of course it’s a bug.

Hi all! I’m the author of Heart of the House - I just wanted to pop in and say thanks for all the kind words!

I don’t want to get too deep into the bones of this thing with achievement specifics and such, but I can respond to a couple things about the romances…

@Lizzy Canonically speaking, it’s not a permanent move to London! Depending on the particulars of your ending, a long-term trip might even be super complicated for Reaves. Sorry that didn’t come through - your MC’s marriage plans are still on!

@Asura I totally know where you’re coming from. If you’re particularly close with Oriana, she might talk about it a bit, but she’s definitely not a relationship person. She also wants to be free more than anything else, which kind of complicates her ability to get genuinely close to anyone. I have plans for dark romance in future games, but Oriana’s character and situation just weren’t right for it.

The poly romance, for those who need more info: The main event can take place shortly after the big dinner, when you’re off having adventures with the characters involved. I don’t want to give everything away, but it’s definitely not as straightforward to bring about as the others. I’d love to write a poly romance with characters who go into it with lots of open communication and planning, but that’s not quite how it goes down for these three. (A bigger spoiler): You’ll need to give the other two a chance to bond over their worry for the MC, which can be a bit tricky if you’re especially good in a fight.

Romance achievements: Flirting with folks shouldn’t lock out other romances, but everyone does have their own preferences for how they need to be treated to fall for you. The achievement itself should trigger in the bedroom scene on the final night before the ball, when you commit to them to some degree.

Thanks again for all the kind words about the game. It’s so wonderful to finally share this story with all of you.

Hello! Just want to say that I absolutely adore your story and thank you for creating it. I know you’ve just finished this story but I do look forward to your future CoGs or perhaps a sequel

Oh, I get that she doesn’t want to be tied down by a traditional romance… but her wiping the MC’s memories after they supported her wholeheartedly and helped her lobotomize Sophia is just painful.
