You always can do a flavour difference in the usage and let player choose them as part of same magic school. Like the dominate powerin Vampire have several powers inside with several potences
Hey @poison_mara would it be against the rules to create an NPC based off our lovely host of the Halloween Jam for our game? One of the possible summonable demons in my entry is just currently called hellknight and i thought it’d be neat to turn it into the Queen of Poison as a subtle nod and thank you for always hosting the jam and even when you have doubts of your own you still help others.

Just because you don’t think you do anything special doesn’t mean you don’t do anything special. You’ve put a lot of effort into the jams over the years not to mention the countless feedback on games. You most certainly deserve it. : -)

the current version of my entry is just over 30,000 words with just the end bit of the game to write and a few bugs in the system to squash. I should have it ready by the end of this week which leaves me two weeks to finish my entry to the other writing competition.

@poison_mara is there a limit to the amount of testers we can have?
Have all testers you want, but if you made a public link you have to warn me first in pm to put the link in a testing link for the jam

As far as I understand it, as long as you submit it by October 31st, you should be good to go, and can start writing now!

Sure You have until 31/October. Since 1th October I will star a campaign to try to cheer people into trying to do a speed jam a small game between 2k 8k for fun and maybe end their own first game without feeling pressure as it is something small many are doing.
But Yeah a month is a really good time for a game of small medium size.
If you start today you would with 1k day made a game that would be higher in size than the required for a Hosted.
Awesome, I have an idea for a short IF horror with the Twisted Mirrors theme. I’ll start outlining today and hopefully the game will be finished by the end of October.

This sounds fun and interesting! I have never done or heard of a jam before! I presume you write a short story and then code it? What if you have never coded in CS? Would that disqualify you? Is there a link to the rules and guidelines of a jam? Tysm for reading all my questions XD

Here are the first posts with the rules. You can use Twine, choicescript or another code engine that let people play the game with choices online, I personally recommend choicescript as it is easy and there are great tutorials and you can ask here for help

Earlier I had what I suppose you could call a dark moment, where I very nearly scrapped approx 30,000 words of my entry which I considered about 95% complete. However, I’ve come up with a way to track damage to the four potential targets which should deal with the niggling issues that nearly made me start again. So I’m letting out a sigh of relief.
