@jeantown If eventually Guen gets the baby, are there any chances that it will not be Arthur’s?
Someone, somewhere, needs to play a Guen who thinks the sheep were an awesome idea. Just so the other Guens can laugh at her.
After beating the franks in their invasion, can you use this as am excuse to conquer medieval Europe?

Question when is the earliest oppurtunity to tell Arthur that we love other people.
@ Tehani I think that means taking all the sarcastic options. And possibly being enthusiastic about the sheep? Not sure.
@Elfwine I think that it was not bad idea, maybe not too medieval-ish, but it’s fantasy so i’m okay with that
. From marketing point of view it looked understandable to remember your client in every opportunity the benefits of your trade. It was just poorly executed, with Arthur’s lack of knowledge about the sheeps, and this is really when Arthur failed with being too silly. Like Guen pointed out in conversation with him, the shepherd didn’t say anything about Arthur’s idea because he didn’t want to doubt or anger the king. And any problems with the sheeps started only when they got sabotaged. So i think that it may not have been awesome idea to bring the sheeps to castle, but also not entirely bad.
Or maybe i just like Arthur too much and i’m favorably disposed to anything he do
@jeantown Since Mordred’s personality is already set, then i guess we won’t have too much opportunity to spend time with him and inflence him while he is a kid, so who will rise him? Will it be Morgana? But i thuoght that if guen is pursuing romantic path with her she will spend more time with her then. Or maybe Mordred’s upbringing will be too problematic so he will be send somewhere away to rise? I don’t remember from my veeery limited knowledge of Arthurian legends who rised Mordred there.
@jeantown i cant wait for Mordred! I hope i get to spoil him as a Child, oh and perhaps Guen can be Child Mordreds first and only chrush. That would be totally adoreble (fan girlning) ^^
More so If Mordred as a Child clings to guen and says to Arthur ( aka his father) “I Will get married to Guenevere when i grow up” Haha i can so imagen Arthurs face If he loves Guen.
I can understand that someone might think it was a good idea especially because of the marketing point, and (as in, me, the guy playing) love Arthur like a younger brother - but I think you’re being too easy on him.
Still, him being the kind of person to do this ties to the traits that make him attractive, so hopefully he won’t think “wise up” means “Nice Arthur is dead. MEAN ARTHUR is here.”
I trust Jean will avoid that, but we can only wait and see for how he takes any advice to heart.
@WulfyK Sadly, no. There will almost certainly be other children in the later parts of game, but Guen can have only one of her own. That’s partly because infertility issues are traditionally part of her story, but mostly because I can only account for so many characters who may or may not exist. (Even in part 2, accounting for Bretta’s possible death is complicated, and I don’t even want to think about what it will be like to have to account for certain other characters being dead or not later on.)
@anon11888245 I think some of the possible permutations of the child’s personality and skills may allow for your battlefield vision. (: Arthur will be significantly older by the time the child can be born, and even if he still retains his somewhat naive personality by then, he’ll be very, very excited about having a child, and will want to do everything he can do to ensure the child’s happiness and safety.
@thesunfloweramazon I’m excited to write Galahad, though I still have a lot of things to iron out. Originally I was not going to do anything with the grail, but I’ve since changed my mind (though it won’t appear in the traditional object-of-a-quest role). So I think Galahad (and his mother) will probably have some connections with the grail, but in kind of a different way from how it’s usually done.
It will indeed take some fancy light magic for Guen and Arthur to have a child. Using said light magic may mean sacrificing some other options (which may or may not be things Guen cares about).

@thesunfloweramazon @Nikmou Guen may possibly have an easier time conceiving a child with a certain other person (Mara will not like that option at all). If that happens, the fact that said child doesn’t have the Pendragon blood won’t be immediately apparent, but could be a big issue eventually, because yes, there are some ways in which people would be able to tell. And before anyone asks: yes, the child will look and act different depending on who their father is.

--------------END SPOILERS--------------
And now I’m tempted just to refer to the baby as ‘’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’. At the moment I already have two definite “That boy ain’t right” moments planned for Mordred. Your Guen can react accordingly. (:
@poison_mara That octopus
almost looks like
+
, so the closest thing I have to :smiling_baby_chicken_demon: is apparently an octopus. Who makes these things?
@njl It is in no way illogical to assume that Morgana can take care of herself but Arthur might need some help. (: I’m glad you’re enjoying the variations in the relationships; I try really hard to have something appropriate for each Guen’s personality. You know, I’ve put some thought into how a romanced Morgana will react to finding out that Guen is actively romancing Lancelot, but you’re reminding me that I need to think about how Morgana as a close friend would react to that news. Hmmmm…
I do love the idea of Guen rescuing Arthur, since the traditional Giant of Mont-St-Michel story is a classic damsel quest. That branch will have a few elements inspired by the traditional story, but will also enable Guen to definitively take the role of rescuer. I can’t wait to write it. (:
@Elfwine One of my playtest Guens is a bit airheaded and thinks that every single thing Arthur does is genius. It’s actually kind of fun to play that way (for me, anyway).
@Pepper hahaha Not just yet. (: Britain’s military forces are thin on the ground at the moment, so if they can manage to drive the invaders out of their territory, they’ll already have accomplished something very impressive.
@Tehani Thanks for the stats! (also @Zanite) Yeah, the Convivial stat is a bit problematic. I intended it to reflect the extent to which Guen is just out to have a good time, so dancing at the wedding banquet and drinking with the soldiers will raise it. (Wanting to party isn’t the same thing as being kind, so conviviality seemed worth distinguishing.) The problem is, there are only so many “fun” social moments you can work into a plot, so I started giving Guen conviviality points when she says something that might lighten the mood or make someone laugh… And now Convivial has kind of become the Purple Hawke stat, I guess.
@Player Good question; I’m still thinking about that. When the Lancelot non-love spell is revealed at the end of part 2, Guen will have a chance to tell Arthur about it, which could be an indirect way of telling him there’s something going on. As for telling him about Morgana… honestly not sure yet, since I need to think more about how he’d react and what the consequences might be.
@Ponku Guen will be a part of Mordred’s childhood, but he’s Mordred, and therefore almost impossible to influence. (: At the moment I’m planning for him to spend some of his childhood at Orkney, some at Avalon, and a bit at Camelot. @GloriaRose I might be able to work in a little bit of that kind of thing, but I do want to be super-careful not to sexualize Mordred as a child – not that what you’re suggesting really gets into that territory, but I’m going to err on the side of caution. I think/hope you’ll still enjoy the way he’s portrayed as a child.
@Elfwine Even after being “hardened,” I don’t think Arthur could ever be really mean. He could become more practical/realistic, less enthusiastic, and somewhat melancholy, but he won’t be kicking any puppies; he just doesn’t have it in him.
@jeantown yay looking forward to how you will portray child Mordred
Also i am so looking forward to how arthur will act towards Mordred.
"You know, I’ve put some thought into how a romanced Morgana will react to finding out that Guen is actively romancing Lancelot, but you’re reminding me that I need to think about how Morgana as a close friend would react to that news. Hmmmm…"
Wait, doesn’t Morgana already sort of know? She says to Guen she doesn’t think she’s required to stay faithful. I sort of assumed she figured it might happen.
Also, as for Arthur finding out about Morgana- while I figure he’d be pretty shocked about, would he be less so if Guen tells him she’s gay and doesn’t sleep with him (or sleeps with him only to have a kid?)?
And ack, sorry for constantly asking questions! D:
@thesunfloweramazon Oh, yes, that’s all true… I guess I meant more specifically, like when would they talk openly about it and what exactly would Morgana say if it’s confirmed… but she won’t be surprised or condemning.
As for Arthur, yes, I have to imagine it would be a lot less of a shock if Guen’s already told him she’s interested in women. I think he’ll have a harder time with it if he and Guen agreed to a celibate relationship, since that’s an almost-unthinkable sacrifice on his part, and he’ll feel like she’s not making the same sacrifice. Ugh, that conversation’s going to be a pain to write.
The questions are good; I need to think ahead for this stuff! (:
@jeantown Ah okay! Sorry for being confused. Hmm, yeah, it’ll be interesting. She knows about it or figured it would happen, but that doesn’t say what her reaction to being faced with it would be.
Yeah, I imagine it would. Basically any of the harsher ways you could inform him about the cheating will be…painful (unless again it’s lesbian Guen or such, then I’m just like son that came from a mile away bless u but c’mon). Ack, I think I’ll just try for the nicest way to inform him of it everytime. I can’t…hurt characters easily…
Speaking of the cheating- I was wondering (ack, another question) will there be any point for Guen were we can tell Arthur ‘hey i really don’t mind if you have anyone else on the side?’. I mean, I realize that Arthur never would (unless it’s the situation you mentioned were he does) due to the treason thing or because he actually loves Guen, but would we have the choice to tell him anyway?
Kind of like asking Morgana if it’s possible to magically have kids. Impossible, but it’s something I can easily imagine a lot of Guens bringing up, especially if they’re cheating or are gay or just want to be friends and don’t want to deny him the chance to find someone? (Or at the very least, giving Guen the chance ‘hey I’m not a hypocrite at least’ later on, lol).
That’s a relief.
Mordred must get it from something outside his parents - I can see Morgana doing worse things than Arthur especially if even harder than she is now, but not kicking puppies for the sake of kicking puppies.
@thesunfloweramazon Actually, now I’m remembering that I did once makes some notes on what friend-Morgana would say; I’d forgotten that she’s going to know about the non-love spell, so Guen will get comments from her when that comes up for discussion. I think mostly Morgana will just roll her eyes and say “whatever.” As for Arthur, I’m sure I’ll figure it out somehow. (: I know some people are excited about just shocking the hell out of him, and I wouldn’t want to deprive them.
Yeah, it would make sense for Guen to tell Arthur she’s okay with an open marriage, even if he’d be reluctant to enact it. It’s certainly a discussion they should be able to have, and will take some careful thought. It took me forever to figure out how to incorporate Guen telling him she’s asexual or gay without that turning into a massive out-of-control dialogue, but I’m reasonably happy with the way it turned out in the end, so I’m hoping I could do something similar with an open-marriage discussion.
@Elfwine Mordred does indeed get something from outside the family, and it will be fairly clear what that is at the end of part 3. (:
Something wicked this way comes.
I’m not sure why that popped into my head, but it did.
I was wondering, in the first book if you’ve tried telling Arthur before about Lancelot sneaking into her tent, and furthermore you go on to tell him that Lancelot seems to be inappropriately interested in her and you keep insisting on the matter, will this affect his reaction at all when the time comes that he finally finds out/realizes what’s going on between Lancelot and Guen?
I regret playing this game.
Now I compulsively refresh this page everyday and hope for updates.
