Great! I probably don’t read it until all parts are done due I fear spoil myself any info my character couldn’t know and destroy my rp immersion. Glad I know you are advancing, probably you end this when I started to get tired of Inquisition like in my 5th play or something. :))
I don’t think that any of the encyklopedia entries contain spoilers. Those are short info of how the world of Guenevere works, claryfying some differences, so i think that your character knows that already and you should be able to read it without getting spoiled with anything
@jeantown
I love this game so much, i keep playing over and over again i keep coming back to this thread to see what your doing. its nice to see you keep us update on what your doing on the game. Thank you for making such an awesome game I can not wait for the next part.
So I finally got around to reading this, and I really like it. I’m only at the very beginning, so far, but the writing is great and I can already tell that the characters are well done. I would have liked to be able to be a male, but I don’t think that will be an option, so I’m okay with that. I do wonder, though, is Guenevere automatically attracted to males? I mean, obviously we’re married to the king, but I’m wondering if we can like women as well.
Sam you aren’t attracted by males by default you are forced to marry though. You even could choose don’t like sex, being a pansexual lesbian hate sex, but lay people to control them…
Oh, yeah; I just got to the point where you get to choose your sexual orientation.
I found a typo: “The solider who offered me the cup looks worried” (should be soldier)
Btw, I’m now a decent way through the WIP and I love it. Morgana is amazing.
Well, this is my first attempt to write anything in the new forum… so many buttons and boxes everywhere! It’s going to take some getting used to.
@poison_mara Just as @ponku says, I don’t think there’s much of anything in the “encyclopedia” entries that you haven’t already figured out from playing the game. As for Inquisition, I just hope I don’t get so wrapped up in it myself that I can’t finish part 2 somewhere within my desired time frame.
And… wow, okay, I just noticed that the smiley face on this forum looks especially enthusiastic. Okay. I guess that’s not a bad thing? Oh, wait, there’s a slightly different one…
hm, also rather enthusiastic-looking. Are there any just-moderately-happy smiley faces? And do we still have pink angry faces and green sick faces? I can’t seem to find an emoticon button…
@PurpleMonkey1211 Thanks for the ongoing encouragement! I need it.
@Samuel_H_Young Thanks for playing, and I’m very glad you’re enjoying it. I guess by now your question has been answered. (Thanks, @poison_mara) I’m toying with the idea of adding another f/f romance (lady knight maybe?) once the whole thing is finished. And thanks for reporting the typo – should be fixed now. I wrote the whole thing in plain old vanilla notepad and never thought to run it through something with a spell check! That’s on my to-do list before releasing part 2. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the rest of the game, and I hope I can come to you with questions someday about publishing in Hosted Games.
omg you guys there is an emoticon for “non-potable water”!!!
I don’t even know how I got that. This forum is bizarre. Don’t drink the water.
I’m loving it so far
and another female romance option would be awesome. Also, I totally agree with Arthur’s vision for the world but I laughed so hard at this: "“If you’re planning to put yourself out of a job, doesn’t that mean you don’t need an heir?”
And yes, I can’t wait for this to become a HG.
As a follow-up, I have now discovered the emoticon for “potable water.”
Because you never know when you might need that in a forum about interactive fiction… ?
@Samuel_H_Young Thanks! I’m so happy that you like it.
There are some more dialogue options along those lines in part 2 – I look forward to hearing what you think.
I just finished, and it was great! It seems to me, that with a little wrapping up, book 1 really could be a CoG by itself. This would likely give you more motivation to write the others, and it’d help create a fan-base for the sequels while they’re being written. Just a thought!
Yeah, it’s tempting to flesh out the ending some more and try to release it on its own… I thought about that when I first posted it here and people seemed to like it, but the problem is that I’m a perfectionist, and I want the whole series to feel really cohesive. Even as I write part 2, I’m finding that I want to retrieve information I didn’t know I’d want to track in part 1, and going back and adding variables for it. (Like the times Guen can tell Arthur not to leave her out of battle plans, etc.; those were just for flavor / character expression when I first wrote them, but then I realized that it should make a difference later on, so I added a variable for it.)
Most importantly, I want to wait until I develop the exact political tensions that will drive part 5. I have some idea what I want to do there, but I won’t know for sure until I see how other things evolve in parts 3 and 4. Once I have a better sense of exactly what the political factions are, and who’s in them, and what their motivations are, I want to go back and layer some of that into the earlier books. So, for example, at the end of part 1, Guen might be approached by someone from a faction that aligns with whatever choices she’s made, and she could start to build allies from different groups in anticipation of part 5.
I do envision releasing the game as a series, with each “book” available individually… but my dire perfectionism is making me wait to make sure I get everything just right.
don’t worry i had make a whole new account for this forum since i could’t remember my pw or email address. I love that you give the player so many option to pick from i also really like its romance as well there only been one other game that i played and that was called choice of romance which i have paid for and i love it to death
Perhaps you could release the first 4, finish editing it and planning what happens in the final three, then finish the final three to release as a sequel?
Oh, you could release it like trilogies like star wars. For me game didn’t begin until Lil Mordred appears this is just a big prologue. Where are emoticons
@PurpleMokey1211 haha okay, I don’t feel as bad about being overwhelmed by the new forum.
I liked Choice of Romance, too. It gave me some ideas for developing Guenevere. I hope you like the way the romances develop in part 2!
@thesunfloweramazon That’s not a bad idea at all, particularly since (in my current plan), part 4 will see the end of Cornelia Saxonica as an antagonist and the beginnings of Mordred as… Mordred. So it might be a logical place to have a break. It all depends on how well I can work out the exact details for part 5 ahead of time.
@poison_mara If I could figure out how to make it into nine books in three trilogies, I’d… well, I’d probably never get it done. But that would be a cool structure. To get the emoticons, I typed a colon, and then tried typing random letters after it. You get a pop-up list (but it’s not all-inclusive). So if you type a colon and then an “e,” you’ll have an option to put in an icon of a “European Post Office.” !!!
What about making making 1 and 2 into the debut, making 3 and 4 into the sequel, and 5, 6, and 7 into the finale? Demons Among Men (my series) is going to be 6 volumes total, even though I originally wanted to make it a trilogy. Both because of economic factors and my impatience, I decided to split it up into 6 xD but it seems like people enjoy fewer but larger stories.
Hi there! Long term lurker here but I finally bit the bullet.
First, I just want to say that I absolutely ADORE this game. It’s my joint favourite with Team Zero. I love your writing style and the characters are so believable and different. I’ve honestly lost count of how many times I’ve played it. I even sometimes daydream about it
(wow that sounds sad).
So, I am a total Lancelot fangirl. I am a very kind and dutiful wife to Arthur. I love him, I’m just not in love with him. I am hoping to become better friends with Morgana (Whenever I’m playing my ‘main’ playthrough, I always get ‘You’ve been moderately kind to Morgana’ at the end, I guess it’s because there are times when I’ve accidentally focused on Lance or Arthur over her). With Lance, I am slowly falling in love but am planning to resist, due to my duty to Arthur… but I have a feeling I won’t be able (meaning, want) to resist for too long
In regards to your ‘marriage, sexuality, and children’ game note, I noticed how you said that an affair would seem treasonous. In a weird way I am really looking forward to seeing the eventual fallout, whether Guen actually has the affair or not. Then again, there’s not really anything about this that I’m not looking forward to.
Oh, also, I have a question. Sort of. It’s more of a ‘pondering’, really. I was doing a playthrough where my Guen openly dislikes Arthur. In regards to an affair, would it actually be a bigger betrayal if I was kind to him? For example, if I play it so he thinks I am in love with him (even if it’s only out of a sense of duty), surely an affair with Lancelot or Morgana would seem out of the blue. With an unkind Guen, at least she’s being honest in how she feels about him… although, obviously, an affair of any kind would be devastating, especially considering how generally naive he is.
Anyway, sorry, I’ll stop babbling now. I just really enjoy this game and thank you so much for writing it!
