@jeantown – Good things are worth waiting for! :-bd
Thanks, everybody! I really appreciate the words of support. I think there’s room for all kinds of games and all kinds of protagonists; we just need people to write them! And I’m still amazed at how encouraging people are on this forum in general. It’s a great community.
@CrayFoPottah Another one that spellcheck wouldn’t catch… Thank you so much!
Please let me know if you find any more.
and @Doctor… Considering the amount of money generated by stubbly white men as role models, I’m pretty sure they will be in abundant supply for a long time.
I know, I’m kidding. I don’t have any role models… I’m completely Role-less.
@poison_mara, I don’t know how successful I am with poison, could lead to lots of undesired consequences for someone inexperienced in the Mara arts as I
Hey there. I’ve been a devout choice of game fan for some time now (and in the process of writing my own title), and just feel like I absolutely have to say something about your game. Simply put, this kind of game is the reason why I love choice script games. Idk why, but this game seems to offer a lot more depth than others I’ve played, and the characters are very well done. Not much else to say but that and good luck, and that I absolutely cannot wait until part two!
@FoxalypticWorld Well, if that’s not inspiring, I don’t know what is!!! Is that Eva Green? I can’t quite tell from that angle. I love her expression in that pose. Anyway, thanks for making and sharing it!
@FunnyManVanya Thank you for playing and for the comment!
Knowing that people appreciate the game keeps me working hard on part 2. And best of luck with your own game. I look forward to playing it!
You know whenever anyone asked about playing a male Guin I think about the nasuverse, in which King Arthur is a girl.
So what I picture is some feudal warlord sticking his son in a dress and shipping him off to Camelot.
@stsword oh my; I think I’ve only ever seen one of the animes, so I was definitely not familiar with that! Would make for a very interesting dynamic!
@Jeantown The anime version of Fate/Stay Night sucks hard; I’d recommend getting the actual visual novel or at least watching a playthrough of it online. The anime of Fate/Zero (which is the prequel to Fate/Stay Night) is actually pretty good, however. The Nasuverse definitely did a fantastic job of portraying a female King Arthur (even if I have a lot of criticisms about it, which I won’t go into here) and is definitely worth checking out.
Oh no a female Hippie :(( that would be the worst thing ever! Mara jumps scared just with the idea of ribbons and a romantic emo queen. WAIT that is better than the original
@poison_mara Plus Nasuverse Excalibur fires energy blasts that can level a city. And in one route she gets infected by Angra Mainyu a.k.a the embodiment of all the world’s evil and wears black gothic lolita clothes while she tries to kill you. So there’s something for everyone, I guess.
In the nasuverse, to win a wish granting macguffin spellcasters summon figures from history or legend to fight for them, however the people who were summoned were magical copies of the actual historical or legendary figures, so what was true and what the legends say can differ.
King Arthur was a girl, who at fifteen pulled the sword out of the stone and ruled Britain, but she pretended to be a man for her ten year reign, and who never held any animosity towards Lance and Guin because her marriage to Guin was pure politics, so why begrudge her friends some happiness?
Some knew her secret, but officially she was male. Although considering King Arthur had a sword that could demolish a castle with a single swing and a sheath that would heal her even if you cut her in half, I can't help but wonder how many people knew but just humoured the lunatic with the immense magical powers.
Are we talking about Fate now? How did this happen? Not that I’m complaining.
Arturia is a strong heroine to be sure, almost like Guen took 99 into sword play and 50 for intellect and light magic. She has some drawbacks but the way she’s depicted in her legend is good.
That said, genderbending established character’s could be a fun idea. Most of LOTR would be called the “Femship,” Mulan would be abit strange because the woman pretty much run the military, Frozen would be about brothers?
Admiral Yi would probably advance what a woman could do 300 years in the Joseon dynasty and if you’ve played the Analogue games, you know how bad they were. Joan of Arc might have been John of arc but the church deliberately gave him that name in order to have a female saint, something major at that time.
I’m not sure where this idea was going. I was probably going to say how we know the legend today would be different if the person depicted in the legend was of a different gender. Yeah, that’s it.
@stsword and @Leingod Well, this is enlightening. I had no idea! Are any of the VNs available in English? Which one(s) has f!Arthur?
@Taiho Someday, when I’m retired and have nothing else to do, I’m going to take an electronic copy of The Lord of the Rings and switch all of the pronouns, with no other edits unless necessary to make reasonable sense. This has been a goal of mine for a long time. Especially looking forward to female Gandalf and female Gollum.
Lady of the Rings? So male Galadriel can have a line about, “instead of a dark lady, you would have a Lord!”
@jeantown To my eternal sadness (and confusion), Fate/Stay Night has never gotten an official American release. The good folks of www.mirrormoon.org have made a stellar translation patch available for download, but only if you have the game disc itself, which can cost you anywhere between $70-110 to get in America. You CAN download it for free online if you know where to look, but I do not officially endorse this option. If you DO get it, be aware that is an adult game and there are sex scenes. Otherwise, you’re best off watching playthroughs on youtube and the like. Fate/Zero is a novel, and while there is a fan translation of it you’re best off watching the anime, which can be found on netflix or www.crunchyroll.com. Both feature Arturia Pendragon a.k.a Saber as a main character/secondary protagonist.
