Guenevere (WIP)

@poison_mara Happy Birthday to You!! :slight_smile:
Wow, that’s a lot of experience as dungeon master! You must be great in that role since you like it so much to play it for so long, besides we can see part of it here, thanks to @jeantown 's game.
I did played some tabletop rpgs as gm with my brother when we were kids, but never anything ā€œprofessionalā€, so my experience is far from yours.

@poison_mara Hehehe nice answer.

@JTAL Why did I laugh? Why? :stuck_out_tongue:

I wonder what would be Arthur’s reaction to an openly ambitious/virulent Guen. Is he an eloquent one, this king of Britain, or will he be comprehensive/submissive and just accept to be hardened?

I second @Ponku’s ideas about the crest/dagger. I’m doubting the praticity of bringing back the head and perform the steps required to obtain the teeth/skull in their final state for a cup or the grip of a dagger. And as I dare to assume that not too many Guens would like to show-off a visible link to the people they killed, here is my question: will we have a secret room with restricted access to store the trophies?

Trophies - would a lock of hair do? Quick, discreet, not overly grotesque… and you know, Victorians (and others) used to make jewelry and charms out of hair, as well.

Oh Hippie is too stupid to be submissive. I mean you could almost bang Lancelot in front of him and he really don’t realize. No only way hardened him is turn his ideals and make him guilty, that or just give a dog cookie if he do as you ask. My girl would accuse him for don’t protect her due his stupid I trust in everyone.

Maybe. It will depend on how @jeantown will develop this character. At this point of the game, after 1 week of marriage and as the story is displayed, I am not sure he HAS to be aware of what can be going on between Guen and Lance. I mean even if one plays as a queen who despises him and wants to bone Lance, there is no real public display of affection. For now. And I don’t think he is medium. Or he can be more focused on the battles he has to fight than on his wife. Or he just pretends and doesn’t give a single fack about what Guen wants to do on her free time. ^^
And on a more general topic: he has his ideals, but Morgana points out that he doesn’t shy away from using violence. So the guilt is not always strong enough. And the way he decides to ā€œtrustā€ everyone could be as much as a strategy as a Guen faking to have faith in him.

@jeantown All this raises another question: do you have a specific personality in mind for each and every of your characters and they will stay coherent with it or do you plan to make them malleable to fit the different choices taken by different Guens? (I am not only talking about hardening them, but I do not know if I am clear enough. ^^’)

Like @Fiogan’s idea too.

@JTAL Classic. ^^

@Tehani – The farce compels you! :stuck_out_tongue:

@JTAL I have a finite amount of both rocks and cheese. I try to distribute them as best I can. :slight_smile:

@poison_mara and @ponku Yay rp! :slight_smile: You both have awesome and well thought-out Guens. I think if Mara’s Guen had that conversation with Arthur in part 1 he would just completely freak out. It might make more sense to him when he’s older.

Which brings me to @Tehani’s question: My plan is for each of the main NPCS to change over time. Each of them has the potential to become gradually darker-spirited as a result of stuff that happens. Guen may be able to prevent that (or encourage it). I don’t know if I can claim that they’ll be malleable, since there’s only so much variety of personality I can write into the game before it becomes impossible to hold the story together. But there will be sort of a sliding scale of hardening. At the same time, they’ll still be themselves, no matter what. At least, I hope I can write them cohesively enough that they’ll still seem like themselves, even if they have more negative attitudes. Sorry if that was a vague answer, but I don’t know how things will go as I try to make the personality changes work.

@Fiogan If I’m able to add trophy options, a lock of hair will definitely be one of them. :slight_smile: I can definitely manage that without having to add a bunch of different reactions/repercussions to Guen carrying teeth or a skull around. Same for @ponku’s suggestions, though I’m not sure Hrothulf would have a crest, since he’s basically an outlaw. Weapons, absolutely, so those are definitely an option.

@jeantown So conversely, will there also be opportunities to help the darker characters be a bit more hopeful? Morgana comes to mind here.

@Fiogan I think, in Morgana’s case, it will mostly be a question of preventing her from becoming completely embittered, particularly after Mordred’s conception. But if I’m able to make the Guen-and-Morgana-rule-the-world-together ending that a lot of people want, maybe Morgana will cheer up at that point. And Guen should be able to do some smaller things to make her happy along the way.

@jeantown I see; thanks for your comprehensive answer! Morgana is not a particular favourite of mine (I actually prefer Arthur to pretty much everyone thus far), but every time my Gwen interacts with her, she just wants to bring her a little extra cheer. Morgana already seems to have really gone through the wringer at the start of the story, never mind afterwards…

I thought that Hrothulf may have a crest even if he isn’t nobility. That he may want to invent one for himself in spite of being noble or not, something along the lines ā€œi don’t need them to aknowledge me as noble, i am one in my own eyes on my own termsā€ or just to mock other nobles and their customs. But i’m not definetly sure if those are along with his personality.

@Ponku I like that idea! It might be too complicated to work in (I’m not sure where Guen would get all of that explanation), but it’s a really good idea that would help develop an otherwise very flat character.

@jeantown I’d hate to see Arthur become darker. I like his cute, naĆÆve little self. It’s actually why my Guen (not the ditzy one) ends up falling in love with him. She’s very cynical, and expects all humans to be cruel and self-serving (she’s a lot like me that way), but Arthur turns out to be genuinely kind and selfless. He actually inspires her to spare Hrothulf–she wouldn’t have done so without Arthur’s influence. It makes me wonder how she’ll take the whole Mordred incident. I can see her punching Arthur in the face (can we do that?) but then forgiving him later (after a very long walk through the woods where she can be alone and antisocial).

@Ponku I like the idea of Hrothulf giving himself a crest even though he’s not nobility. It gives him more personality. And Guen could take it from him whether or not she kills him. So if she chooses to spare him, she can show everyone that she’s not weak by taking that trophy. She sends out the message, ā€œI’m strong enough to kill him, but I chose not to. I will not be so benevolent next time.ā€ It’s a good way to balance Arthur’s ideals with practicality.

This is kind of irrelevant, and I think I’m the only one who feels this way, but I’m going to throw it out there anyway. I am honestly ok with Guen remaining passive through the assassination sequence at the beginning. I mean, there’s no reason to take it personally. It was a political move against the Queen of England (or at that point, we assume it is), and it probably would have happened to any girl marrying Arthur. Also, the assassin was most likely hired by someone else and had no personal problems with Guen. While I understand Guen wanting to interrogate the assassin and find out who was behind the incident, I don’t see any reason for her to get angry about it.

@jeantown i wonder how the whole mordred thing is going happen, is someone going to make morgana look like guenevere, or do they have masks on like in the mists of avalon? So many possibilities! I can’t wait for Mordred to become older lol ;:wink:

@jeantown & im sorry if that is the weirdest said thing ever :((

Does it involves tentacles >:)

@MarvelousMatty Its ok lol, not tentacles probably poison french cheese

@Mirabella That’s what i thought off, exactly what you said, a trophy that wouldn’t require to kill him but show Guen’s power in being kind.

Yes for good Guen has sense a good throphy but what? He hates you badly lol he don’t give a present.

I would love to show his head to the army like a general with a badass speech

That’s been the guy who menace our families, and attack our freedom. He try to kill me thinking the Camelot queen is weak. That we are all weak and cowards! We showed them our Strength! Now we make them feel the pain in their hearts!. We are Camelot , we are the proud of our fathers. No one its a match for all of you and we would wipe any enemy without doubts long live the Camelot kingdom! Long live the King my dear husband!.

@poison_mara ā€œLong live the King my dear husbandā€ says the queen plotting to assassinate him… :stuck_out_tongue:
