Guenevere (WIP)

@Scrivener I feel exactly the same I could spend ten hours creating a table rpg background attributes and mannerisms…
@jeantown Stop teasing me, now I couldn’t stop thinking what Mordred could do to Barbie if he think Lancelot could suppose a slight menace to gain Guens heart. Ah =P~ I could imagine, including poison, daggers and lute strings in Barbie neck… he is so romantic Mordred.

Could my Guen teasing Mordred using Barbie or better her mother… It would be so cool 8->

My game characters are like the extension of myself, they behave like me and if their backstory is open to creation by player, then it’s usually something i can relate to myself so i can feel myself in the story completely, so i’m not sure if i can call that “alter ego”. I’ve never been so creative as @poison_mara to make so complex character that isn’t similar to me.
@Scrivener I also spend a long time at character creator and everything must fit, the name, backstory and appearance. Last time i played Dragon Age i started the game like 15 times, every time after few minutes decideing that something was wrong, like the name doesn’t fit or eyes should be slightly different color etc.

@Ponku finally someone who sees my problem! If I have to I will spend half hour or more on the name alone even though they don’t say the name in game. Then on the actual character creation itself I’ll spend at least an hour or more if I haven’t played the game before to get it just right. I’m not going to play a game when I can’t stand the character I made or any part of it.

Gosh I’m so in love with this game. Does anyone know of any similar games I could play while I wait for chapter 2. I love rpgs but I crave a good story to go with.

@shirette WIP’s or games already out?

@Ponku I do the exact same thing every time I play Mass Effect! My Shepard has to look exactly right. And sometimes, since the first game’s lighting isn’t that great, I choose one eye color during character creation but then find out it is actually different color and have to remake my character. Usually, my first character’s backstory is like my own, but my later characters either have complicated and interesting backgrounds completely unlike my own or are just really silly and entertaining (like my ditzy Guen). And @Scrivener, I do the same thing with names :stuck_out_tongue: Sometimes I delete and remake a character simply because I realized the name wasn’t right, even though I never see or hear it in-game. And @poison_mara, if I did play table-top games, I would do the same thing with my characters’ backgrounds.

I really like this game. (would you call it a game?) I love the plot and the choices you can make, I feel like I get really in to it when there are lots of choices to make. I hope you continue with the series. (:

Anything. I’ve played cute knight. I just can’t find a really good otome game

@shirette I could recommend Winter wolves game Loren the amazon princess its an rpg with romance, you could be a boy or girl and for a jap rpg tactical you could make few important choices also your love interests could try to kill each other if you romance some same time Bioware style.
Also you could choose mood responses as in DA2.

Anyway the rest of their games are good too, like from mystery, romance girl to lsci if. and they didnt try to rape you or being sexual harassed by your brothers like Japanese otomes lol or becoming a sex slave or forced marriages lol Japan are obsessed with rape and slave women

@poison_mara & @jeantown You do not like cute nicknames, but you do not hesitate to call the boys “Barbie” or “Hippie”. Double standard everywhere! :stuck_out_tongue:

@Tehani I haven’t any problems with nicknames, its the sugarcoated part what I hate. Sarcastic nicknames are tons better than cute ones

@poison_mara: Well, it’s what the moe fanboys want. Cute submissive girls they can put on their body pillows.

I mean, Rei Ayanami was created so Hideaki Anno could bash the whole concept, but the fanboys just kept wanting more sexy naked Rei.

@Ramidel Otome games are by definition only for girls so its for girls in Japan. So they try to keep women under you are a shit feeble and childish that have to keep your virginity and submit to any men to being loved, not be intelligent due men only want cute, silly girls to rape them or slave them and of course girls love being raped and being forced to marry its so romantic!! POISON TO ALL THAT CRAP X(

Also another woman friendly occidental Otome is Everlove rose game you are a healer in a medieval dream and there are mythical beasts plots clues, rebellions and many possible outcomings

@poison_mara i’m totally with you about the opinion of some japan otome games; i just couldn’t agree more with you.
Hmm, so you say Everlove is good… i may try it sometimes soon.

As for your question @shirette you may look some earlier in the thread there was some talk about other otome games, but here are some:
Loren Amazon Princess - adventurous and romance,
Royal Trap - intrigue and romance
Cinders - intrigues and less romance, more about other relationships between people

@jeantown So if we can use skills in combination with each other, can I use dark and light magic at the same time to make shadows and sparkles that combine into sparkly shadows???

@poison_mara Mordred will take great delight in engineering Lancelot’s downfall.

@Ponku, @Scrivener, @Mirabella I get so frustrated when the in-game character doesn’t look like they did in the generator! I’ve had that happen way too much. I usually just force myself to play with whatever came out of the generator, but I’m never happy about it. I liked DA2’s appearance-change option in the weird shop. I kept my Hawke’s face the same but changed her hair all the time, because why would she have the same hair for ten years? (even if the NPCs and buildings look exactly the same for ten years, sigh)

@Fuschia Thank you, and thanks for playing! I do keep calling it a game, but I hope that by the time I’m finished, it will truly be worthy of the title “interactive novel.”

@Tehani As Mara says, cutesie sweetie-pie nicknames and sarcastic derogatory nicknames are two very different things!

@shirette: Mara and Ponku have good suggestions. I absolutely love Loren. I haven’t yet played Royal Trap beyond the demo, but it looks good, and Cinders is a quality game even though none of the ROs strongly appealed to me personally – but they’re very well written. Everlove looks interesting! I saw something about it a long time ago before it came out, but haven’t heard anything since. Maybe I’ll give it a try.

re: otome games in general, they do raise all kinds of problematic issues. That’s why I said in the thread title that this is an “otome-ish” game, because it does put lots of emphasis on different romance possibilities, and I think that people who like otome games will like it… but I’m trying to make it more grown-up than the typical otome game.

@Mirabella uh… well, never say never??

@poison_mara & @jeantown I maintain that Cuty is in the eye of the beholder! Don’t you find that hippies are cute with all the little hearts and flowers? :stuck_out_tongue: No, really, I was just teasing. (But I hope we agree on the fact that you can call someone “*random word overflowing with sweetness*” and be entirely sarcastic about this.)

@shirette with my definition of “otome game”, I guess you could like 1931: Scheherazade at the Library of Pergamum / A Troll’s Fairy Tale / Halloween Otome / The Second Reproduction.

Speaking of “grown-up”, I do not remember if this has been addressed: what will be the rating of the game?

@Tehani I think the game is probably PG-13. Sex scenes will never be any more explicit than the ones with Arthur in part 1 (though I hope they’ll be more fun/exciting for Guen). But I think because there IS sex, and drinking, and eventually incest (which won’t be described at all, but since it’s involuntary it does count as non-con), we’re probably in PG-13 territory. The game is not “adult” or “mature” in the sense of explicit content, but it is in some of the themes (and, I hope, the depth of the characters as they get older).

PS @Tehani I suppose it’s also possible to call someone an offensive-sounding nickname in an affectionate and cute way, too.

Hi! I’ve been a lurker around the forums for a while, and I must say Guenevere is my favorite wip game  I love character-centered games, and yours gives us so many choices on how we want to shape our Guen. Mine spent a lot of time learning dark magic, and spent a little time with her father learning about leadership and politics, and regarding being a queen, she feels dutiful and calculating :3 She’ll probably stay loyal to Arthur because she prefers playing safe, and is quite content with having Lance and Morgana as friends. Also, she’s best known for being intelligent (yay!). Btw, I know you’re already working on book 2, but maybe if you could fit it in somehow, you could add “so we could question him” as one of the reasons why Guen chooses to spare Hrothulf? It’s just a thought, but your game is already aweaome either way  Can’t wait for book 2! Keep up the good work
