Yes, I actually did, as well as playing Arthur. While my first playthrough is normally my canon MC, I do like to explore other builds, etc. to appreciate the author’s work.
That was why at times I’ve tried to assure someone that I think it is cool if they like a certain NPC, and I’m certainly not invalidating their playthrough. Of course, certain builds/romances/etc. will grab different people.
Lance is also getting creepy dreams sent his way, similar to the dreams Guen gets if she doesn’t behave the way Mordred wants. Dude’s having a rough time. He shouldn’t have kissed Guen without consent but he’s an impulsive person and he stops immediately if she’s not into it.
He’s not my fave but I think people are harder on him than he deserves.
You can briefly meet a version of him in a dream. It’s been a long time since I played it, so I don’t recall if there was a specific sequence to get it.
It says on @jeantown’s FAQ on her writing blog that if Guen has been avoiding people as much as possible on her wedding day, she’ll have a dream about Mordred. I don’t know if there are any other Mordred dreams she can have, though.
You can have two dreams of Mordred. First, if you don’t sleep with Arthur, and stay behind when he and Lance go on the fireworks adventure, and ALSO send Morgana away when she comes to check on you, you will get the first Mordred dream. You get a second one in the tent prior to the battle of badon hill. I’m not sure if it’s automatic or if you have to continue to be standoffish. Also, if you and Morgana summon a doppel-Guen, she will ask if it’s one of Mordred’s dreams.
Re: Lance, if you talk to him about the spell and whether it’s mental or physical, if he trusts you he will bring up the dreams he’s having. I went code diving to double check, and he mentions that he had a dream the night before meeting Guen in Frankmarch, and that they can be disorienting. It seems like Mordred is a Guen/Lance shipper.
You know what would be funny?
If guen took a lock of hair from Hrothulf as a trophy instead of an army of guen dopplegangers running around it’s an army of hrothulfs
I’m currently in the middle of creating a Guen loosely based off of @buggygirl11’s Ditzy Guen, who is nicknamed Spoiled Guen. One of the main differences between the two is that, unlike Ditzy Guen, Spoiled Guen isn’t necessarily dumb (even if her Intelligent stat is currently 0), but she is impulsive and not very politically astute (Leadership: 0–yep, that’s intentional ). With that said, I admit to having a difficult time deciding on how Spoiled Guen should react to Grimald’s offer on the ship, since there are two possible reactions that I can see her having:
a) Spoiled Guen is so hacked off at Grimald for helping Meligaunt kidnap her that she turns him down immediately.
b) Spoiled Guen, taken in by Grimald’s politeness towards her, agrees to his terms, oblivious to the very real possibility that he has ulterior motives. On one hand, Spoiled Guen has absolutely no interest in stuff like politics and diplomacy, so she wouldn’t really care about the peace treaty between Britain and Frankmarch. On the other hand, she could make the deal with Grimald just because it looks like an easy way off the ship.
Guen: Lancelot, Morgana, And Arthur. I’m glad you three are here. We’re going to play a game of "I Never. " The rules are simple. I’ll say I’ve never done something and anyone who has done what I’ve never done takes a drink. Ready? I’ve never found myself sexually attracted to Guenevere. Eyes all three people
I want to get everything out in the open. Lancelot and Arthur working out Lance’s guilty conscience and both understanding My Guen wants Morgana And vice versa.
Hey… @jeantown
On the Michelmount branch, you’ve mentioned before how Arthur (Obviously) has to survive.
People also want some sort of possible wounding to him.
How about if the Michelmount goes horribly wrong, or you successfully side with Malegaunt, Arthur can become a Fisher King variant like in Excalibur’s Grail Quest?
Oh, I really hope for something like that too…but I also want to impress Morgana in most of my playthroughs anyway…okay all of them, no matter if my Guen has a romance with her or not, because Morgana approved is basically the biggest compliment to get in this game (in my humble opinion at least)
That is pretty great and I wish I remembered it! I guess I’ll have to rewatch at some point…
TNG was a huge childhood influence on me. These days I could do with a lot less grittygrittygrimdark and a lot more optimistic storytelling along the lines of TNG.
I’m excited about my particular twist on it, and Galahad’s involvement. It’s a loooong way off, but I know where I’m headed.
I think I made it through the first season, maybe? I do picture my Morgana as kind of a more mature version of Kate McGrath. It’s the only really specific “casting” in my mental imaging of the Guenverse characters; I guess Kate McGrath was just that iconic in the role!
As @ElvenQueen says, Morgana won’t take it personally at all, or be upset. She can take care of herself, and she wants people to recognize that. But also this:
Morgana isn’t used to being anyone’s priority.
As long as Guen already told him she’s a lesbian, he’ll be relatively understanding. In the Guenverse, a same-sex affair is not considered as horrific a sin as a hetero affair, because there’s no threat to the bloodlines. And Arthur is a pretty forgiving person.
Let’s assume Lancelot explained it to him at some point, and then Arthur felt like a voyeur for even thinking about it because he understood that it wasn’t really any of his business, so they never spoke of it again, and Arthur tries to avoid thinking of such things as much as possible, because that’s the type of person he is.
I do want to be able to make space for those kinds of nuance. It would be impossible to name every possible permutation of Guen’s feelings within the game, but I do try to avoid making assumptions as much as possible; e.g., just because Guen has sex with Arthur and was nice to him, the game doesn’t assume she’s in love with him or not interested in anyone else.
You will get both options, though it may not play out exactly according to expectation?
@thelaithlyworm Thank you! I’m so happy that you enjoyed the game and the characters, and I hope you’ll like the next part when it’s finally ready!
Yeah, that would be a different story, but I do think that Guen will eventually have the option to control Cornwall’s army, for whatever that may turn out to be worth.
aaaaaaah, like if Meligaunt took Hrothulf’s hair assuming it was Guen’s… that would be chaos.
I haven’t seen it anywhere else, but I feel like it fits Lancelot’s character really well (he IS traditionally raised at Avalon) and I would love it if the idea ever shows up elsewhere!
That should be an option eventually.
There’s at least one spot in II part 2 where Morgana does comment if Guen does impressive magic… I’m sure that if Guen continues to develop both, Morgana will notice.
@ArthurianKnight Sounds like you are well-versed in Arthuriana, which is great! I’ve been working on this game for over seven years, and I’ve already planned out, pretty specifically, how I want to adapt the major elements of Arthurian legend, including the Fisher-King motif (and the grail, etc.). So I’m not really looking for new ideas on that front, but I hope you’ll enjoy my adaptations when the time comes!
I know, right? Like superheroes, they went from this optimistic, idealistic do-not-kill style to this dark, gritty, shitter-than-life ruin-it-all(-for-me) approach. That is what these ‘Star Trek’ films did to Star Trek; lost the message, the hope, the meaning. Then again, the fellow making them admitted he hated Star Trek and loved Star Wars. Now, it is more like Trek Wars. Ack.
That is why, for instance, I will always hold the original Star Wars trilogy higher than any darker sequels, be they prequels or not; ‘harmless’ childhood adventures not bogged down in all the grown up nonsense.
There is, after all, a reason stormtroopers wore that armour - they were the faceless enemies, and now, well, now we have one turn hero. How can we watch them get mowed down now?
Oops, there went the tangent off the tracks, even!
Well technically it went to shit in TNG when the federation had corruption since it was supposed to be a utopian society. Though it just made it more realistic to me.
That’s an understatement😂 @jeantown
I know more about Arthuriana then my multiple teachers who taught me about it.
I once got super triggered when someone thought Ector (Arthur’s foster-father) and Ector De Maris (Lance’s half brother) were the same guy.
Also, quick question: Yvan in the legends is the son of Morgan and King Urien. Is that connection dead and burried? Has someone like Morgause filled the role instead?
