@lello Thanks for checking back in, and I’m glad you enjoyed the game!
Since December I’ve made some small across-the-board revisions to part 1 (though I’d like to do more at some point). Most people’s least favorite part of the game had to do with the consequences of accidentally touching Lancelot, so I made some changes to how that happens, along with some other changes throughout, but nothing major. I’m working steadily on part 2, now about a third of the way through the fourth scene (out of what will probably be about fifteen total scenes). The most recent discussions have been speculation about Mordred and suggestions for how to write asexual options. Also, everyone here is wonderful.
:x thank you Jeantown for the wonderful
Compliment <)
( I’m feeling nice, that’s why I said that to you)

Sorry mine computer frozen and repeated what I typed twice
I… wow… I gotta get my thoughts in order.
This is a seriously good piece of work with very, very high ambitions. I mean it might take a few more years before Guenevere is finished but damn it if I won’t be glued to the progress. Just by reading the first book I can get the sense of scale of what you’re trying to achieve, it’s astronomical sure, but believe me when I say this could be one of the best Choice of Games ever made. If completed that it.
Now, being thrown into the rule of Guenevere, I was a little cautious at first. Because most choice of games have either a male or female role you can start, that is except for Sabers of Infinity, which like this, locks you into the role of a male soldier and like that, Guenevere locks you into the role of a female queen.
Now the freedom of choice of allows for your generated character to act within the world, the player character’s choices reflect the world around it. But with a locked character, it’s vitally important that the narrative and indeed the character’s decisions form a cohesive understanding. While playing as Guenevere, I got curious and thought, “Why not have a pan-sexual who’s also good in battle?” And the decisions made towards that never broke character, and that’s what I find so good about Guenevere, all choices never break character, they just seemed natural and in a locked character, again, that’s important.
*Ahem.* Sorry for that, just wanted to state it. I’ll address the rest in bullet points.
- Loved it. The level of writing simply allows me to be immersed in the world.
- You made me care about the characters, whither I went behind their back or how Gwen ended up treating them. It’s very hard for me to care about characters, so that’s a point for you.
- Is Guenevere the intentional spelling of it? I guess it could be, her name can be spelled a few different ways.
- I don’t really have any complaints about it. All characters are solid and act within expectations.
- I found no grammar or spelling mistakes. That’s a rare thing these days, so another point.
- The different choices of romance and how they’re presented is really refreshing. Again, playing as a pan-sexual is something I’ve wanted to experiment with. Hell, I’m curious as to how the asexual plays out.
That’s it. I really look forward to more of your work.
I don’t think words are enough to explain how wonderful this game is. This is just so beautifully written. It’s fun, with a lot of different yet lovable characters, with a great replayability value! Personally, it’s really hard for me to choose between Lance and Arthur, although I have romantic feelings for Lance and none for Arthur(I just think he’s really cute and I pity him, really.) it’s still hard for me to cheat on Arthur because my responsibilities as a queen and as his wife weighs more than my feelings for Lance(for now maybe). And I really adore my friendship with Morgana! And of course after the battle and all, I did get attached to my soldiers and my knights. So that really proves that the characters were really written and they weren’t just there for the sake of the game having more characters. You really got me to immerse myself in the game and feel like I was really part of that world instead of just playing a character I made in a fictional world.
Keep up the good work! This game is craaaazy good. I am obsessed with it! :x
Nice to see how this game bring different ppl together
It’s shows how amazing @Jeantown is, to create a game that everyone who plays it likes it so much
Also for any newcomers i want to encourage you to read also Jean’s New Arcana books (at amazon kindle store). You really wont be dissapointed!
This has to be one of the nicest threads in the forums
Its good to see how everyone interprets Guen and the various options differently - I’m more inclined to have her still drawn to her husband, though she is still a little smitten with Lance and is uncertain what exactly she feels towards him, plus she views Morgana as a good friend. But it’s nice to see that Jean is allowing for a range of options along an extended storyline.
Thank you to @ricepatrick182 and @GoriaRose for the ongoing encouragement!
@Taiho Wow, thank you for all the feedback! I do feel like a hypocrite for making a genderlocked protagonist, since the gender flexibility is what got me into CoG in the first place. (My next game will definitely not be genderlocked.) My best hope is to try, as you say, to offer so many different personality options that readers feel they still have lots and lots of range to develop the character in spite of the fixed gender. I’m glad it seems to be working! Anyway, I did deliberately choose a less-common spelling of Guenevere, just to make the game and the character a bit more distinctive. I think your pansexual Guen should have quite a few different options for expressing that identity as things move forward.
@choiceofkylen I’m so glad you like the game! I love hearing about different people’s experiences and feelings toward the characters, so thanks for sharing yours!
Your Guen should be able to carry on as a faithful-but-tempted wife for the entire series if that’s how you want to play it. Maris (and Bretta, if she survived) will still be around in part 2.
@Ponku and @attolia This thread really is unbelievably nice. I’ve been impressed with the quality of the CoG forums overall, and the people who post in this thread have been supportive and kind, whether offering praise or suggestions. It makes a huge difference in my motivation to keep writing.
@derekmetaltron Thanks to you as well! It really does help for me to hear as many different interpretations of Guen’s personality and feelings as possible.
Yes, this comunity is amazing! I mean you could play or opine diferently to others and noone insults you because of it. Or insults me because my english is bad , I had badly experiences in other forums ,with racists insults included. How i suppose learn english if everyone are laughing at my attempts? Thankfully i discovered this forum , and im proud of my progress, I have lot better results in my grammar english auto test .
But returning to topic, that clearly is praise @jeantown awesome writing skills . You have created a character people couldn’teven change her name and all her background is preset but each person who trying your gamebook discover that their Guen is theirs. The freedom fulled of your game , I never would play a goody playthrough but is nice know that is a possibility . Well i would do it for achievements. And you did the more Credible hippie and Barbie i ever read! and the niceness Morgana . Now i want achieve badass nicknames and poison . But you got The Mara´s poisonous quality seal . Great work! Now write next faster! Go @jeantown =D>
hahaha @MaraJade I’m glad you appreciate the game so much even though it is currently lacking in poison or evil main characters. Mara’s poisonous quality seal is a great honor.
And I’m very, very glad you found a civilized forum to hang out in.
