Back when knights were a thing, up until the late 16th century (if I remember correctly) Courtly honor only meant the first definition. They could not sleep with the lady, or that would be dishonorable.
Later down the road, (17th to 18th century) when knights fell out of practice as it became impractical, courtly love was when you could sleep with a lady.
However, courtly love has always been associated with sex in some way or form and always legal/honorable.
And Jean, because Iâm on a knight role and I thought you might be interested! Did you know âknight in shining armorâ used to be an insult (or backhanded compliment) meaning a knight was inexperienced and/or didnât deserve his title as knight?
And with that, Iâll drop the courtly love topic. It got a bit long winded, but what I was getting at was showing evidence that Lance is not in the wrong for giving Guen trophies. Itâs well within his right.
As for why he does it with Guen and not Arthur: Knights of the time were pushed to give such things to a lady, because the gesture is partially romantic, but still considered an honor. To offer trophies to your leigeâs lady â even if the gesture has some romantic connotations â does not mean youâre putting the moves on her, or that the two of them are locked in an affair.
Blasphemy! Merlin is at LEAST as cool as Lance. Who DOESNâT love that seemingly senile âturn you into a ferretâ mage?! Merlin needs a bigger role⌠Because.
So Arthur and lance are buff? lol . Whatâs the cause of mordreds health problems ? I feel like the cool list is more like thisâŚ
Lance
Lance Doppler ganger 1
Lance doppelganger 2.0
Lance doppelganger 3.0
Lancelot is my favorite character obviouslyâ:heart_eyes: I canât seem to find any reasons to like morgana her personality puts me off. But Iâm going to be friendly just to stay on her good side.
Lord Merlin is a drunkard, is he not? In Book 1, Lancelot âborrowedâ Merlinâs keys while he was drunk. In Book 2, he was seen refilling his wine glass. Also, the MC can tell Tilda that Merlin can vouch the wine quality.
Edit:
Why is Merlinâs brain different? Is that normal human with fae blood behavior?
But Arthurâs too⌠passive
As in, Lance will confront/ interact with you about his feelings, Morgana does whatever she does to become very likeable, but Arthur⌠is quite childish and passive. Great skills for a friend, not much so for a King, Husband or Lover.
Arthur SHOULD be closer to the top, but he keeps getting outshone by the usefulness of the Fae Pet (Giant dog chasing sheep. Is it now a german shepard?), the fact I like Merlinâs weirdness (I wish our character could act like Merlin sometimes XD), the fact Lance is too good of a fighter, and Morgana is too useful. Arthur and his love-ableness just canât compete!
Arthurâs not passive. Heâll gladly ride into battle to curbstomp people who threaten his country. He does so quite often, in fact.
He just tries to avoid conflict with Guen, because he actually cares about her and her feelings (even if sheâs a total jerk to him). That feeling of genuine affection appeals to me. Not like Lanceâs selfish âomg, I lust after you and Iâm gonna do what I want no matter what you thinkâ.
(To clarify, I donât hate Lance. But I like Arthur better.)
Aha! The lust spell. Well I hope (need to believe for my peace of mind) that Lance would still love Guen even after the spell wears off/ is ended or something.
Possibly. We donât know (yet; it will be explained at the end of Part II). But Guen feels the âtouchy burnyâ thing, too, and she doesnât (necessarily) lust after Lance. Itâs possible the spell affects him differently, but weâll have to wait and see on that.
@jeantown And so 2 more Guens were born! Not one, but TWOâŚand a possible idea for my own future COG. Itâs seriously amazing the kind of creativity Iâm capable of when Iâm supposed to be studying for my driverâs test.
I donât have time to do a full Guencap on either at the moment, but I did want to say that I created my first asexual Guen, and it was a very interesting experience.
Up until now, Iâve never actually gotten annoyed with Arthur before (me the player; he drives plenty of my Guens insane ). But him pressuring asexual Guen to have sex (especially after only 6 days)âŚkind of got on my nerves.
Anyway, I just wanted to say it was really interesting to see a different (and far less likeable) side to Arthur than I normally do.
In fairness to Arthur, you can guess why. But Iâm not going to say itâs pleasant to hear, especially since Arthur is better at âpainfully earnestâ than âcharmingly coaxingâ.
Looking forward to when you do have time for a Guencap. For all my complaints about irrational prejudiced Guens, one of the most interesting things here is that different Guens do play differently - megakudos to Jean for making it possible to do so many different people with so few obvious stats.
Can I just say as an asexual what Arthur says when âpressuringâ you is totally hilariously normal.
It may be one of my favorite things about this game because of the realism of that moment.
I have had that conversation. Multiple times. With multiple people. I laugh every time.
Donât feel weird about it. Itâs not weird. Itâs truth.
I spent my entire Freshman year at college bemusedly pissed at my friends because they kept plotting ways to âfixâ me/making bets that they could be the one to âfixâ me.
I canât even tell you how many times I screamed, âDAMNIT. IâM NOT BROKE!â
So yeah⌠Just be happy he respects it at all. XD.
A FAQ with sections by character/topic was what I had in mind! I would be happy to volunteer to go through the thread so far and make one for you if youâd be interested in having one! (:
Youâd probably still get the same questions over and over again though, Hahahah, but Iâm sure thereâs cool questioned answered Iâve missed but reading the whole thread!
