Homura in no way reminds me of Morgana… but for some reason i’m picturing Morgana as Homura. I don’t know why, maybe its because their both magical XD Magical Girl and a Black Magic-user. Who knows what the connection could be?!
I…I…I don’t know how I’ve never seen that Toby Regbo (Francis’ Actor) kinda resembles a mental Arthur. I think it’s because Francis looks to old for my mental image of Arthur AND it states in game that he has brown hair (though I always ignore that.)
That is an extremely sweet picture @Elfwine. I can see why you envision Morgan that way but personally, I’d prefer to envision the picture posted by you as my PE Guen. Katie McGrath foreveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer.
I just discovered Guenevere a couple of days ago, and I’m absolutely hooked. Thank you for making a game that’s so accessible, but also engaging, complex, and fun! I know it’s a huge project, but I’m so excited that you’re doing it. In terms of feedback: I enjoy how many options (and repeated chances) you have for crafting your relationship with each character; although I would love to see some more chances to give your core skills mini boosts along the way.
All the best with your writing and future projects!
Okay, there are now over 150 posts since the last time I was able to write anything substantial… I’m (once again) going to do my best to go back through and reply to things where I can, but the liklihood of me missing questions is high – apologies! As always, if you were hoping I’d reply to something and I didn’t, please just say so!
I’d love to see it, too; I just want to make sure it doesn’t feel forced or off-track. But, as you say, she’d be a great resource or foil in the final conflict, and that, at least, wouldn’t be difficult to implement. She’s about the same age as Guen, so she should have considerable experience and power by then.
If I did that, every single choice in the game would be about what the fae pet chews/eats.
While I’m not saying that the above is untrue (though perhaps not the desperation), and Lancelot having feelings for Arthur is practically Arthurian canon at this point, the person in question is actually not Arthur. Though it might be interesting to write a scene of Lance declaring his love and Arthur just not understanding at all. Anyway, the person to whom Lancelot did formerly declare his love will appear in part 3.
I’m not plannning on dealing with STDs in this particular story. That said, I do wish that more fiction would address them, so maybe in a future story?
@BrunoHill92 Glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for playing!
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa my thread now supports Godwin’s Law and it’s ALL MARA’S FAULT!!!
@SwanMaiden Thank you for returning this train to its appointed track.
@alexxo97 I believe your questions were answered, but let me know if not.
Actually, fantasy-Frankmarch is supposed to be a bit more Germanic than French, but the name is confusing! Historically, the “real” Franks were Germanic… sort of. Guen’s Frankmarch is in roughly the loation of real-world Belgium. Guen’s Gaul is a closer equivalent to real-world France. Both are powerful, but Frankmarch is more unified. Both have Orlais-like elements for sure.
@Lazarus WOW. I don’t think I could ever come up with a reply that would do justice to the awesomeness of your post. Thank you so much for delurking and sharing all of this! You made my week. I loved reading about all of your Guens, and I’m thrilled that you’ve been able to get so much out of the game. Reading about different Guens’ personalities helps me so much, because I can think through all of the choices I’m writing and ask myself, what’s there for PE Guen or C Guen, etc.? Thank you, thank you, and I’m glad to see you’ve made a few more posts. It’s good to have you here.
@colliecollie Thanks to you as well! I’m very glad you’re enjoying it, and the feedback is encouraging. (Comments like yours keep me motivated to write as much as I can.)
I’d love that too, and a female Lancelot. I’m hoping that my future games will be much less genderlocked.
Yep; seeing the Frankish army up close can provide a different advantage later on, depending on how things go.
Theoretically, but I think that might be a somewhat jarring addition. It’s my understanding that gunpowder was around for a while before the invention of actual guns.
@bellamyb That’s a lovely picture.
Sounds like you read/write much faster than I do.
Tuesday was moving day. The day before moving day is, of course, always the worst – you’re up all night trying to cram every stupid little thing into boxes, and finding whole cupboards full of stuff you forgot you had… And moving day itself is stressful, especially under the circumstances we had (it was an urban move, so there was a high possibility of the moving truck not being able to find a place to park, and/or stuff getting stolen off the truck while loading). So on Wednesday, PWLI and I did nothing. We just sat on the couch, played with the puppy, and ate whatever we wanted. I ate an entire box of chocolates and played Seasons of the Wolf and refused to interact with the outside world in any way. Of course, that meant that we had an insane to-do list for Thursday and Friday, including returning to our old place to clear out more stuff, and trying to unpack enough for basic functionality in the new place, all while keeping the puppy under control. So yes, I did get to relax, but I need a week or more of that and not just one day!
I suppose I could give Guen a chance to say something during the night scene at the beginning of part 2? Like I don’t want to just randomly throw in a balcony scene out of nowhere, but if I can build it organically into what’s already there, maybe? Thanks for the encouragement; I’ll keep thinking about it.
@Echo Thank you! I’m So glad you like it! Out of respect for the forum rules and the other forum authors, I can’t answer questions about when the game will update, but you can follow my writing progress on my blog and check out the FAQ.
Souveniers? Would you like some chewed tennis balls, perhaps?
Thanks. That was so frustrating.
I don’t know if it was a bug? I just got that thing where the screen grays out and it says the site was updated, and I clicked “yes” because I didn’t realize it would make my saved reply disappear. Usually the replies stay around forever; like I’ll start writing a reply on one computer and then switch to my phone or another computer and it’s still there. But now I’ve learned: if the site updates, your saved reply can disappear into the ravening maw of the internet.
That’s definitely the inspiration.
::sidesteps ponies discussion::
@lianaa Thanks for playing and posting! I’m so glad you like it. As for the stats, the whole stat system is going to get a massive overhaul once more of the game is written. I spent too much time early on trying to get the stat-bulding just perfect, but then I decided I’d focus on getting the story down first, and then refine the stat system later.
Oh, did I get through all the posts finally? Yay! Again, let me know if I missed anything, and I hope I’ll be able to get back to replying to things more regularly now that the moving process is slowing down. Thanks, as always, to everyone for keeping the thread going in spite of how long it’s been since any update! This discussion really is vital to maintaning my motivation to work on the game.
I agree, Loren was much more engaging; Seasons is fun but kind of grindy. Fortunately, I was in a grindy mood, so it was all good… but I think I might be due for a Loren replay soon. Anyway, thanks! I hope so, too.
Anyway, I thought of something interesting. It was mentioned that Cornelia and Hrothulf hate the MC because of Arthur refusing to marry Julia. What was Julia’s reaction to this? It was never mentioned.
Speaking of which, do fae dogs eat normal dog food? Fae dogs are different, after all.
Just a thought, since Lancelot saw the Frankish Army, and if he and the MC goes to Camelot, it’s totally unnecessary for the MC to see the army, is it not?
How about gunpowder-based explosives? We can (literally) blow the Romans away! We can turn Mordred into an unrecognizable corpse which we can donate to cannibals so he’ll disappear forever!
Reading? Some of my friends did say that, but I don’t feel I read too fast so I always insist that it’s the normal reading speed.
Writing? Yes, although that, in my opinion, is a bad thing. I usually have many spelling errors (I type letters too fast). The auto speller really helps.
Dear Jeantown-senpai, can you give opinion’s on what you think of everyone’s personal headcanon looks for Arthur, Guen and the rest of the motley crew of various headaches (Merlin… explain your carrots and cheesewheels please)
Also, chewed up tennis balls work for souvenirs. I have never owned a puppy, only full-grown dogs, after all.
I don’t think Julia really cares, but in many ways she’s a blank slate right now, so that might change if/when her character develops
Uh… maybe they eat unicorn meat? Just kidding;I imagine they eat pretty much the same things as normal dogs; perhaps more volume. That transformation process takes calories!
Let me think about that.
They are all beautiful and equally valid, and it makes me happy to know that people care enough to want to imagine what the characters look like in such detail. As far as I’m concerned, there is no better or worse way to visualize them, and everyone is free to ignore the small bits of description I’ve included. That’s the beauty of text-based fiction!
Probably not something to worry about until Book 3 but I was wondering… after Mordred’s conception and given the nature of it for both Morgana and Arthur, will Guen be able to stay friendly or sympathetic with both of them? Cause I know my Guen will be heartbroken to have to pick between her best friend and her beloved husband.
@jeantown I’ve been really curious for a while…why will Mordred hate Lancelot so much/so passionately?
Especially curious since whatever it is will offend Mordred more than his father refusing to acknowledge him as his son (since he will hate Lance more than Arthur).
Absolutely. She’ll have to give one of them priority immediately afterward, but she can still have good relationships with both of them, and help reconcile them with each other.
Much of that will be set up in part 4. It has a lot to do with Lancelot’s relationship to the rest of Mordred’s family, which will start to develop at the end of part 3. Sorry that’s not a real answer, but I don’t want to give away those particular plot details just yet.
Eventually the conversation turns to Victor. I tell Morgana some stories about his adventures, including the time he destroyed the castle kitchens, causing us to discover that the food had been poisoned, and the time he scared a fully-armed knight into climbing a tree and staying there until I called him off.
Aside from detecting the poison, what are other abilities that fae dogs have? Night vision?
I… didn’t expect that. I actually intended that as a joke.
And some questions:
Since Lancelot saw that army, it’s totally unnecessary for the MC to see that army if the MC and Lancelot are going to Camelot, right?
Do messenger pigeons exist in the Guenverse?
In the ship, if the MC ordered the fae animal to run away, resulting in Morgana throwing a potion in Megilanut’s face which makes him unconscious and the MC gets his sword, why why why can’t we kill him? (And loot his corpse)
In addition, when the MC swims away, why can’t we throw his sword in the sea?
Can a fae human exist?
In Frankmarch, treason cough Grimald poisoning the sheep cough is punishable by death by hanging, right?
It depends how you ask elf, My Guen for instance have a ultra clear path on her sneaky mind about what’s going to do and what does she choose. The challenge stills there even if you create a path that fits totally with your character. Of course that’s not metagaming, I hate that it spoils role playing.
The game gives you good advises about whether Then must go, in fact Poison queen activated all flags from going Camelot, so I read a long paragraph about how well I am planning stuff… And I felt so proud of my girl.
I…Ugh…eh…Foams at the mouth excessively. Eeeek! Jeantown replied to me. I honestly wasn’t positive that would happen.
I apologize for the above outburst. Just needed to fan boy a little.
@NJG, though I’m not Jeantown and my answers aren’t fact, I’d still like to try and assist.
1: I assume the details of the Army that you/Guen and Lance are of varying extents. I.E You plus Lance make a fuller picture together than you would apart.
2: I’m pretty sure it’s because the half-giant is important to the story later on and thus cannot be killed at that point.
3: If I recall the sword is magically enchanted/spelled to be unnaturally heavy and resist any user that isn’t the half-giant, therefore it’s hard for any Guen type to pick up/use the sword let alone hold it long enough to throw it overboard.
3b: In the case that a Guen can manage to pick up the sword/hold it long enough, if I recall correctly, Guen drops the weapon before she jumps off the ship no matter what.
4: I think the closet we get to “Fae Human” is Lance, if there is anyone closer than Lance I’m pretty sure it’s the Lady of the Lake/Merlin(I could be wrong); I’m pretty sure once you get past Lance, you are essentially Fae, I may be wrong.
