From sexual disease to Hitler. Good lord Call spanish inquisition and Kill it with fire.
Ok to distract the debate look picture of cute Cat.
i imagine this is what happens when mordred falls in love.
So speaking of Guenevere, what paths did yâall put your Guens on in book 2? I chose to go to Camelot, sent Tilda off with a pro tip, and asked Lance to round up Arthur.
Anxious to see how it all pans out.
At book 2, my MC went to Camelot to get power, I told Tilda the kitchen location, and Lancelot came with me.
Also, I still have Merlinâs carrot.
@SwanMaiden Opposite to you I think, my Guen is off to save her heroic hubby and got Lance to go and help out in Camelot, though I let Tilda know about the device too since I rust her more than the other guy. Plus Morgana escaped first and I told my brave Kitty Tristan to escape.
I only ever got the kitchen location once, How do you find out about it?
My Guen went to Camelot to help everyone there and pull them out of the fire (Because Arthur isnât around), and she sent Lancelot to go pull Arthur out of the Fire (And get the giant-dudeâs sword), and she told Tilda about the kitchen tip.
Kitchen thing? Also, is there the possibility for a successful polyamourous relationship?
In book 2, my Guen went after Morgana (because she luuuuuuuuuuuvs her
), sent Lancelot to go bail out Arthur, and told Tilda about the kitchen.
@Wolfsra I believe it comes up in the conversation with the Prince on the boat, youâll later overhear him telling a guard to put the secure item in the kitchens and not let Melligaunt know. You can eventually figure out heâs taking about the encoding device. After that before she heads off you should have the option to tell Tilda to check the Kitchens if you want her to be in a position of authority over the Prince. Though if you go to the castle as a choice n doubt you can find the device more easily and decide who to give it to, if anyone. Thatâs how I understand it anyway.
@jeantown has said she wants to include that option, though currently it doesnât exist. In future installments, poly relationships may very well come to be!
I donât think you always overhear him though, It probably relates to a stat check or depending on how nice you were to him. Either that or I do overhear and I just canât get the option to tell Tilda.
Thanks for you help though.
@Wolfsra @derekmetaltron
You overhear the Count if you choose any option that keeps you below deck.
Otherwise you get a nice peek at that Frankish army that Tilda and Lancelot both mention. :].
It does appear to be as @monk65 says.
In other news: Why does Frankmarch remind me of Orlais? âŚPolitical scheming always reminds me of Orlais for some reason⌠(Maybe its partially because I just played through Jaws of Hakkon and made a tier 4 Ice Dragon set because cheating for Ice Dragon resources getting duplicated is fun and thus im thinking of Dragon Age again)
In other not-related to Guen news: I am SO out of date with the Steam Visual Novel Library (Like 4 pages out of date). âŚI need to start buying more VNs⌠Though I have so many that I havenât even PLAYED yet!
I believe Frankmarch is meant to be a precursor to France, and Orlais in DA was meant to have a Parisian feel to it. So that would make sense!
Looooooong time lukerer here. I havenât posted in like ever not because I donât have anything to say but because Iâve been a coward. Recently - as in today - Iâve been struck by a sudden bout of courage and decided what the [input your preferred curse here], maysâwell give it a go.
So first things first; I have watched this from the very first day this was posted as an unknown WIP to now where itâs a masterpiece that should be burned across the cosmos. Guenevere has come far fast for something with the scale of writing within it.
Secondly; I am a âquestionablyâ straight male that enjoys playing characters of all genders and orientations - itâs both different and fun. I think I can safely say that I have never enjoyed playing as a female character as much as do assuming the role of Guenevere.
2B: In the same vein as the mirth felt playing as Guen, I have practically never enjoyed pursuing relations with a male character, or any character for that matter (though Iâm slightly Morgana biased for other reasons) as much I have in this fiction.
Thirdly; I believe Iâm supposed to add criticism of some kind, here I will do so. Itâs fairly rare that the personality of a character is so profound, so well crafted, so intricately thought out, that I find myself not only enamored with their pros and faults but also hesitant to bring harm emotional or physical to those I appreciate; namely Lance, Teddy Bear (Arthur) and Morgana.
Iâm not going to lie and say that Iâm not some kind of highly emotional blubberball, that starts to leak waterfalls at the drop of a blunt pin in a padded room, I more or less am. But I constantly hide my emotions or remove them completely and more importantly I am exceedingly hard to impress according to those I know. I.E the fact that Iâm feeling for these fictional people - even though I have cried at fiction before - means good things.
Four; I have seen this done waaaay waaay earlier in the thread and have felt the compulsion to follow in the foots steps of those before me. Thus I commence with the explanation of my played Gueneveres. I have played countless types of Guens but only main about four.
The first Guen of mine is what I would refer to as âmorally questionableâ Guen. Basically MQ Guen began as something or someone that intended to be powerful but lacked true ill intent. MQ Guen was always thought to be a charismatic girl due to her following in the trails of her father and her way with people, in truth though MQ Guen was a bit of a shy odd ball who found more solace in her secret studies I.E Dark Magic, then she did in war and such.
A quick summary of how MQ Guen approached certain events and her feelings on them: MQ went into her the intent of becoming a queen known throughout the ages, a queen both respected and loved by country and man, a queen that could change the world. Underling this large want was MQ Guenâs hope that Arthur and her would actually foster a loving. While MQ Guen found her hope of love for /from Arthur to be fact it was polluted by the fact that she held deep feelings for Morgana, a fact which in and of itself wouldnât be all that bad were they not feelings that were reciprocated.
MQ Guen has absolutely no hostility toward Lance and views him as a great friend and a better protector/knight. MQ Guen initially wanted to end the Barbarian Kingâs life (I believe his name is Hrothgar correct if Iâm wrong please) but found herself incapable of committing when face to face with the man due to her opinion of Arthur. MQ Guen finds it beautiful that Arthur strives toward such a world but doesnât actually desire such an existence for herself.
Lastly MQ Guen would to go/went to the Mountain (canât remember itâs name right now) for three reasons: the first would be to gain a sword capable of making her magical abilities ungodly stronger (In her eyes); the second reason which is of equal importance to the first, would be to aid and potentially Teddy Bear; the third and most selfish reason for MQ Guen would be one she wouldnât readily admit, a hope to gain Meligaunt as a servant through the use of his blade. Sheâd doo all of this alone though because even more important to her than saving Teddy/gaining a magic sword, ensuring the safety of her boo (Morgana) through Lance
The second Guen I main I like to call âCombat Guenâ. Combat Guen or War Guen was the only child born to a noble man, War Guenâs father rather than attempt to raise his daughter like a son attempted to teach her the trades of a male, noble or otherwise, while still allowing her to grow into a refined lady. Combat Guen saw no purpose to the side of life devoted to the âfairerâ sex and through herself into the things her father taught her with tenacity, mirth and desire to pursue such a lifestyle.
Combat Guen would approach her wedding to Arthur with a disdain and boiling outrage ripped from her life of choice and forced into a life which she equated to servitude; aside from her all encompassing rage Combat Guen would feel an obligation to her father and people due to the way she was raised.
Though Combat Guen would initially hate Arthur for her predicament she would eventually warm to him due to his personality and his allowing her to âparticipateâ in her countryâs wars. Combat Guen would execute Hrothulf (I think I remembered his name, not positive.) in the blink of an eye due to her belief that one shouldnât let their enemies survive to strike again another day.
The trip to Mountain Donâtrememberthename would be taken by up by Lance as C Guen would return to Camelot to lead the defense against itâs invaders, a task she would feel is perfect for her. C Guen would back Arthurâs vision of the future because she would believe that within she can live life she desires.
The most interesting thing about C Guen for me is that when I play as her is that she can fall in love with either Lance or Arthur, though sheâs more liable to fall in love with Lance due to her blaming Arthur for their marriage and Arthurâs need to protect her from danger when she wantâs to protect. C Guenâs relationship with either character would influence her personality differently.
In a relationship with Arthur, rather than him being hardened the person being changed would be C Guen. When C Guen and Teddy are together, she becomes softened; less willing to end a personâs life regardless of reason, slightly less head strong/stubborn and impulsive, more receptive of other peopleâs feelings, etc.
When in long term relationship with Lance, C Guenâs personality traits are strengthened beyond their norm. Her will gains the force of a great typoon; she becomes deeper embroiled into all things involving combat due to Lanceâs âloveâ for her and everything she is. Though not a natural trait of C Guenâs, when in a relationship with Lance, C Guen becomes more selfish in that she cares less about the feelings and opinions of any and everyone that isnât her lover.
The third Guen I main is one I call âKind/Perfect Guenâ or âArthur Guenâ. PG is Guen with a heart made not of gold but of rainbows, dreams, happiness and feathers and ponies. PGâs love of all things translates into a strong affinity for people, essentially making her quite the lovable person. A Guenâs innate charm is only reinforced by the amounts of time she spent at her fatherâs heels, not learning of war or such harsh subjects, but admiring a talented man and ruler.
More than anything though PG would take after her mother, devoting herself to Light Magic due to itâs propensity for healing and aiding others. A Guen would enter her wedding with the same unrepentant optimism she approached everything in life; feeling only pride and joy that she would be selected to bring honor and splendor to her family and people, and an unquenchable desire to fall in love with her betrothed.
A Guen would find not only love returned tenfold in Arthur but a constant companion, a best friend, an idol and more. At the side of the other half of her soul, A Guen would deal with all matters with a level idealism that would go so far as to even sicken Arthur (slight exaggeration).
A Guen would not only let Hrothulf live but she would chastise any that wished to kill him. Arthurâs dream would be back one hundred percent by A Guen due to itâs beauty, the concept itself and her unerring belief in Arthur. A Guen feel as though her heart were being torn in two when presented with the choice of saving her people, stopping a war or saving her beloved soulmate; in the end A Guen would chose to go Camelot to because it;s the right choice in her eyes and because itâs what Arthur would, she would reluctantly trust Lance to rescue Arthur due to his skills with the blade and his dedication to Arhtur. (I havenât played with A Guen so that choice might actually be in reverse, donât remember.)
For all of her optimism and enjoyment of most people, A Guen actually loathes Lance from the very bottom of her soul; not because of her personality, which she is reluctantly fond of, but because of his actions. The fact that Lance would declare his love for her, repeatedly, even after she would have stated her unshakable devotion to her soulmate, his best friend and king, would vex her to the point of finding his character despicable.
The fourth and last Guen I main, I call âDark Guenâ or âPure Evil Guenâ. From the moment she first breathed air, D Guen has been a âtroubledâ girl. The thing that has held sway with D Guen since she could comprehend her existence is power.
D Guenâs existence is a manipulative one, she sees power as the ultimate goal and commit any action to hold the concept within her grasp. D Guen believes that there is one route in life that will lead to power above all others, Dark Magic.
Growing up to hide her more intriguing âquirksâ D Guen took to seeing what existed in a manâs/womanâs heart, and learning to bring such wills in line with her own wants and desires.
D Guen would have viewed her wedding as a chance, a moment in time - more fortuitous than any other to begin her ascent to power. Wedding Teddy Bear would shine as more than just a momentous occasion in her life to D Guen, it would serve as reminder to the beacon that was - at that time her life, her dedication to her home and country.
PE Guen would have had Hrothulf executed without batting an eyelash, more due to a desire for vengeance than any ideas about aiding the country or itâs war. PE Guen would likely be met with a dilemma choosing between going traveling to Camelot to take control of the troops/kingdom (Temporarily) and, traveling to Mtâ Idonâtrememberthename to obtain both a mindless slave capable of Dark Magic as well as an object made to aid in the use of Dark Magic.
While PE Guen would treat her relations with those around her like she did all things in life; like game pieces to be positioned at her leisure, her egocentric machinations would find resistance not in an adversary made but in her own feelings for one of her âpawnsâ.
Though PE Guen would treat both Bretta and Maris as mere tools to be used and discarded, Lance as an obsessed buffoon that would serve out of his own volition and Teddy Bear as a simpleton that was both easy to control and undermine; PE Guen would find that although initially she would set out to manipulate Morgana, in time she would it was herself being manipulated by her own feelings: feelings of love.
K, so on a side note: I saw a selection of posts about what actors people envisioned the characters as, and Iâm soooooooooooooooo glad Iâm not the only one who struggles to see Morgana as anyone but actor from the BBC version of Merlin.
Earlier, I alluded to my being biased when it comes to Morgana, honestly, my reasoning for being so biased is due to my struggling to see the character as separate from BBC showâs actor - it also helps that the character is quite well written.
On another side note in slightly the same vein as the one above. My mother and I watched Merlin together for a time (We watch many a show together to keep close), and about four or so months ago, she sent/showed me this picture.
I swear he didnât look this much look âArthurâ during the entire show.
Lastly, on a super side note: I watched Jurassic World four days ago for my for my brotherâs birthday, and without being to spoiler heavy, Iâd just like to say; Carnsarnit Katie McGrath!
With my side notes - aka gibbering concluded, Iâll resume my âappraisalâ of this WIP. To summarize: this WIP is a well crafted, well thought out, piece of artistry and glory.
In the end, what Iâm basically saying is: thank you and my hat off to you @Jeantown, for providing me, this forum and eventually the world, with this beautifully majestic construct of your imagination; which I find to be one of the greatest works of interactive fiction I have ever had the pleasure of playing/reading.
âŚforgive my horrible grammar/punctuation/whatever, Iâm laaaaaazy.
Michaelsmount. The place is called Michaelsmount (I believe).
You may have sparked a desire for people to start talking about their guens again If they have any new ones XD
Thereâs not more Guens That the Poison Queen .Everyone Hail Poison!!
No really This goes to the lurkers. Why in hell are you hidden? We are friendly people even Mara ⌠Well maybe sometimes
And we love heard about others Guens. I never being able to lurking lol, being Shy is not my thing.
This has got to be one of my favorite WIPs. Youâre doing really well.
Everything about this is involving and entertaining, and despite the locked setting and MC, thereâs just so many choices and ways to be! Taking a peek at each possible love interest, deciding to go it alone, truly interesting and I wish I had enough time to just sit and play this in as many ways as I could.
Everything was well written. Not always the most evocative details, but always just the right details. The scene in Merlinâs tower was impressively immersive. I love the references to the Goddess, and bringing Fae into this. I am not entirely sure of anything historical, but it gives me a bit of a charmed âCelticâ feel that has always been pretty mystifying to me. I wish I could have kept playing, but with time restraints I had to close the browser last night. Iâd like to see where everything goes.
I played an asexual Guen whose goal was to take hold of the reigns in this country because she felt she could do better. She was skilled in sword-fighting and black magic and had a cynical personality. Despite all this, and an attraction to Lance, she tried to be a good wife to Arthur out of a feeling of duty. I found it so cool that you managed to take each of these things and weave them into a complicated fabric. I truly felt my choices reflected in the text I played.
The only thing that would bring it from 10 stars to 10++ stars for me would be to make Arthur into Saber I mean a female. (But this is just a joke, itâs great the way it is.) I canât wait to complete a run.
@colliecollie The undefeated king speaks aloud the name of the miracle she hold in her hands. Its name is ⌠EXCALIBUUURRRRR!!!
