Guenevere (WIP)

@jeantown Will Morgana or Arthur say they love Guen (if they do) on the second part of book two?

Dark magic is thought to be unnatural and dangerous. Not evil per se, just something most people would rather not have being done by the next-door neighbors, the same way you might not want to live next to a nuclear plant.

Exactly. She people to do that for her, except in special cases like taking a symbolic trophy.

That is an excellent question. I’m going to have to wait to write a real answer once the packing and painting and puppy-chasing calms down. But the game is, above all, about characters and relationships, and the many different forms that relationships can take depending on one person’s personality. It’s not a princess-builder / stat-builder, even though those elements are there in the background. It’s first and foremost a relationship-builder. But that’s a topic, not a theme. Maybe I could write a blog post about themes sometime…

Nope, he forgot. Or perhaps he never knew in the first place. :stuck_out_tongue:

Cornelia will be killable at the end of part 3.

@derekmetaltron Saint George (the legendary dragonslayer, not the puppy) has an amazingly international reputation, doesn’t he? I know he’s the patron saint of both England and Ethiopia. Agreed on both suggestions; they both make a lot of sense, so I’ll keep them in mind.

The hardening is going to be a raisable stat, so you’re going to want an Arthur who is slightly hardened, but not all the way. Slightly hardened Arthur should be similar to what you’re describing.

Well, not really long-term scheming, but getting into things he shouldn’t be getting into, things that will eventually tie into scheming.

Wait and see.

Probably. It’s possible to get an ā€œI love youā€ out of Arthur in the first half, under certain circumstances. There will be more in the future.

So, you mean that when Arthur becomes stronger not only will Guen get a share of his power, but she might be able to use that against him?

Really? I don’t think I got that scene. Oh well, here I go replay it again
Great game by the way. I’m really looking forward to see where it goes.

@jeantown On the topic of the NPC’s saying ā€œI love youā€ā€¦

While replaying the game for the nth time, I realized that while it takes Arthur 3+ YEARS to tell his wife he loves her (even if they have a great relationship), Lancelot just comes out and declares his undying love literally MINUTES after he and Guen get involved.

Interesting contrast.

I could also see how either way could be incredibly sweet or incredibly irritating, depending on your point of view. (Lancelot saying it so soon could be seen as super romantic or disingenuous. Some might see Arthur waiting for ā€œjust the right momentā€ to be incredibly sweet, while others might want to tear their hair out with impatience and frustration after being forced to wait for 3 entire years.)

Doesn’t Arthur make a point of feeling that way even without saying those three words? Or is it just me?

@jeantown

After playing Guenevere a few times, are the themes: war, love, friendship, loyalty, betrayal and survival? Are those correct/wrong?

Hold on, hold on. I’m getting really confused now.

NJG looks at jeantown in confusion

For the record, do t-shirts exist in the Guenverse?

Does Merlin really forgets or is it in day visions or something?

And the MC can take everything from her corpse?

@Lyanna I don’t remember exactly but I think you need a medium to high relationship with him and don’t blame or ask anything from him after the sheep scene.

@NJG Considering the time period, I would assume that they do not.

No, T-Shirts do not exist, as said in the response the last time this came up.

And just a word of advice, you shouldn’t take everything as Truth. Sometimes even jeantown makes jokes, hard to believe as it is

As an aside: Assuming Merlin receives day visions from the 21st century of our world, I’d think he’d pay more attention to cars, planes, mobile phones, computers and so on instead of trying to intrinsically copy the design of a piece of clothing.

Or, you know, try to go a couple years further to get a finished copy of ā€œGuenevereā€ so he knows what to expect in the future. Maybe a decade.
Possibly try to warn us that Jean will die a gruesome and horrible death by puppy, due to being so exhausted by it that even basic needs like food and drink are too much of a challenge after all the energy spent on trying to get the puppy to sleep.

No, I also got the impression that he’s felt in love with Guen for a while, but was waiting for the perfect time to actually say it.

And for the record, I (actual me, not speaking from any of my Guen’s POVs) think that Arthur is ridiculously sweet for caring enough to try to make the moment perfect, and find that a million times more romantic than Lance saying it literally 5 minutes after getting involved with Guen. I don’t know, it just seems a little too soon for my taste (especially after barely seeing Guen for the past 3 years due to avoiding her).

But that’s just me. Plenty of other people feel totally differently (including some of my Guens).

@buggygirl11 Yeah. Arthur definitely is a very good fit for some people, and a very bad fit for others. This delay is part of that - I agree that it’s endearing. Arthur really, really wants things done the right way - even if his grasp of how to get there might need some guidance.

I think what irks me about Lancelot there is that Lancelot says that to all the girls.

ā€œSaidā€ some would put it, but . . . yeah.

Spike’s behavior in the story linked below is not something I can see Lancelot being able or willing to do as naturally and as happily:

Seriously recommended even if you (anyone who can read this post, not just buggygirl11) don’t watch My Little Pony.

For anyone who does, I recommend it in the strongest possible terms.

That reminds me of certain scene from Spaceballs

@Wolfsra Thanks for the tip. I had always asked something from him at this part.

I went offline for a week and what i found? A lot of debate about If hippie is cute or naive stupid lol. My opinion is well known but I have to admit that myself not Mara or Guen, i am starting feeling something for Hippie maybe because he makes me remember Alistair. when he became hardened he would be great  at least for my no canon guen. I just miss more sense of humor from Hippie he is rather boring

Hey welcome back @poison_mara. I applaud you for having the endurance to read everything you missed. I do not XD

@jeantown

  1. Everyone, including me, wants Arthur to become hardened, but what if a Guen wants him to stay soft or even become softer? Will she be able to achieve it?

  2. Will Guen be able to make an alliance with Cordelia and her husband later? Perhaps against a common enemy.

I’m sure it’s possible not to harden him, but I dunno if it would be possible to make him any softer without turning him into a marshmallow…

Making Arthur softer… that honestly sounds like a bad idea. I mean… he makes a lot of dumb decisions already… my goal for Arthur is to make him not an idiot! If my Guen has to harden him in order to make him intelligent, then she’ll do so because idiot arthur makes idiot decisions that affect everyone. Thusly, softer Arthur seems like he’d be even dumber.

Is it even possible to make Arthur even softer than he is right now?

It depends on what aims Guen has. :grinning:
Letting him make more dumb decisions could be part of her plans.
